Black Hill Wild Camp | Peak District | Wrigley's Cabin | Lanshan 2
Hello guys 👋🏕️
Having not filmed our last couple of recent 2 night adventures, we couldn't not film this one.. for our own keepsake memento if nothing else. 😊 There is a location that we've talked about since the day we did our first Wildcamp.. at the time, not knowing if we'd manage to lug all our stuff up there! But, now being a year in and having lighter, better gear, we decided to tick this one off our bucket list.
We headed for Crowden, off the Woodhead Pass hoping to park up at Crowden car park.. but when we got there, unbeknown to us there was a trail running event on and the place was rammed with cars. Well, with always having a plan B in mind, which is always a must for Wildcamping, we chose to head up to the Holme Moss summit car park and try there.
Plan A being to head up to Black Hill along Crowden Little Brook, where we would get water.. plan B left us a tad high and dry.. literally!! 🥴 But, where there's a will there's a way.. a bloody knackering way, but all part of the adventure.
We ended up pitching where we had always wished to and for the entire time we were there we didn't see a single soul, apart from all the distant hikers heading up along the Pennine Way, which was nice.
It turned out to be another memorable, magical Wildcamp and the Lanshan 2 is just the perfect tent for us and we absolutely cannot get enough of it! 🏕️😊
I would just like to thank @ChrisJB for the inspiration for this one. Since we watched Chris' wonderful camp at this location it has been on our camping bucket list and it did not disappoint.. It was moody and magical! ✨🏕️
Take care and all the very best to you on your own wonderful adventures..
Much love... Mats & Donna. 💚

Feeling that need to escape into the wilderness for a couple of days, and waiting for the delivery of a new tent, we planned this little adventure for the end of the week.. We looked for the two days with the least worse weather.. not an easy task at the moment is it?! 😵‍💫 The wettest July I can ever remember! Very much in need of a couple of days in the rugged wilderness, with an overnight camp, we had planned to head off at the end of the week. Leading up to this, we had realised that Thursday through to Friday would be the Summer Solstice.. well, that would be just perfect! Kinder Downfall has been on our Wild Camp 'to do' list for a while, so, with the weather forecast looking fantastic and the D...

We finally got out on another big hike and Wildcamp! We've been very busy recently helping look after a new, beautiful, force of nature, energetic, mischievous, handful little puppy.. exhausting and joyous! 🥴 So, we really needed to spend a couple of days up in the wilderness, away from literally everything. Hello! 🙋 Noticing a break in the weather forecast.. it had rained for the previous three days!, we decided to head up to Kinder Scout for a Wild Camp. We hadn't camped on Kinder yet so we were excited about this one! The only quandary we had, was where to camp.. spoilt for choice on such an iconic and majestic mountain. Finally out again on another Wild Camp! After upgrading some gear, mainly sleeping system for colder weather, we looked at the forecast for a night that wouldn't drop below zero, just to test our gear, and us, to see if we could be cozy and toasty enough to be safe and fully enjoy a magical experience without worrying about having to bail! It was a beautiful day for October, so we packed our rucksacks and headed off for a Wildcamp on Bleaklow. The weather forecast looked good with maybe rain coming in sometime mid morning.. Well, the rain most certainly came in! From 3.30am it absolutely chucked it down and didn't stop for the rest of the day.. Never had to pack up the kit in pouring rain before, especially somewhere so remote.. ...

This was only our second ever wild camp. This summer has been possibly the worse, weather wise, in my lifetime.. It's rained for the whole of July! So, we decided that as soon as there is a break in the weather, at least one day and night of no rain, we were going wildcamping no matter what.. Great video guys , that little stone hut was interesting I wonder what it was? looked like there was a fireplace. Lots of scruffy people about dropping litter , make you wonder why if someone can organise themselves to go on a remote hike but cant bring along a rubbish bag and a hand trowel for toilet use in their rucksacks , the mind boggles, I see lots of sports drinks bottles dumped I think maybe its like a selfish thing like the outdoors is just about their personal fitness perhaps. Best wishes guys I enjoy your videos :)

      Thanks John.. yes, really interesting little cabin, in a wonderful, remote location. It was probably a gamekeepers or a shepherds shelter.. it really is wonderful to just imagine what it was like in them golden old days back then. And the litter and soiled tissue thing has really frustrated me lately, it's bloody everywhere! It just baffles me.. if you can carry it all up there, then why on earth not carry it back down again. They are a minority though because there are a heck of a lot of us enjoying these places and you wouldn't know they'd been there. We have always enjoyed watching your videos too mate.. all the very best on your next little adventures. 🎒🤟💫💚

Now how can you not enjoy it with them views and surroundings hey! 👌 We didn't know where we were going to pitch up on this one, or whether there would be a spot or not.. but, you find one when you need one don't you. ☺️ Just had to clean up a patch of broken heather twigs and it was perfect! If you get round to venturing over that way, you really won't be disappointed mate, the views are incredible.. and you get the place to yourself really. When we sat by the Pennine Way for brekky, there were a few walkers pass by who chatted with us but other than that.. solitude. Thanks mate and all the best on your next one. ✨⛺✨👍

    You'd be glad that just now I’ve liked your UA-cam Channel. Cos, your content was really awesome. But unfortunately, there are not much views and subscribers. I noticed that your video SEO score is too weak according to your needs. Because of that, your video is not reaching your target audience. You will be glad to hear that I can help you increase your SEO score so that it is top on the first page of UA-cam which will increase your subscribers and views organically.

    Good morning Mats and Donna, just got back from the wonderful Peak District, we had a lovely time! Really enjoyed this one, loved seeing you cook your food (I really enjoy that in a wild camp video). You see Tissue in all the popular spots, the worst for us was when we visited Oyster Clough cabin earlier in the year - sick and actual shit everywhere and the dirty *#@*×+&@ were still in there, so we turned round and headed straight back. Glad it didn't spoil your camp though! Love the new bags I said to Paul, "Donna's got my bag" 😂 I got mine recently to pack everything we would need for a day hike up Kinder with two children. It was so comfy. I wanted to test how much weight I could carry up, I definitely could of carried much more which is good to know for our camp later in the year. Watch this space we'll be the next Mats and Donna! 😂 thank you for the entertaining watch, look forward to the next one. 😀

      Hiya Paul and Sadie.. So glad you had a lovely time in the Peaks and hope you were blessed with some lovely weather. Thankyou sooo much for another really lovely comment. 😊 Yes, I did go on about the poo tissue thing, but bloody hell, everywhere we've been recently it's all over the flippin' place! 🥴 What a shame it tarnished your trip to the Oyster Clough cabin too.. it must have been such a treat to go there and then not have it to yourself.. a slight downside to UA-cam is some places get so popular and attract the less respectful eh, but then some places we only found due to watching people's videos, so ups and downs. The new bags were brilliant.. yes, heavy, but so much more comfortable and nicely fitting than the last ones and it made a nice difference. Well, we're excited for you to get out there now and we know you'll just absolutely love it.. a little note of caution though.. it's very addictive! It's bloody magical. ✨🏕️🎒🌄✨💚

      Thank you so much for your reply 😊 we love reading them as we really sence your excitement about what you do! We're really looking forward to giving it a go there's just so much we need to get and think about first. Can I ask what sleeping bag/quilt it was that Donna has? What would you recommend? This feels like the most difficult thing to purchase as you want to be warm enough, we probably won't do any summer camping. Any advice would be much appreciated 😊.

    • @FeralFrolics
      @FeralFrolics 19 днів тому

      You're so welcome guys, it's nice to connect with like minded people. 😊 Ah.. the sleeping bag situation.. well, that's where our only problem surfaced really. We had to get all our stuff in one we go when we started, last summer, so we got a couple of nice bags for £30 each.. they were great for summer but a bit bulky and heavy. We wanted down bags at a more budget end so we got 2 Naturehike, very light, packed very small bags with a square bottom end which is rare but roomier. They were great until it got cold in the night.. I was fine but Donna would get a little chill which was a bit frustrating. So, recently, Donna decided to get the OEX Leviathan down bag with a comfort rating of -9. This was because we'd asked about a bit and watched a lot of videos of people camping in the colder months and this seemed the most common and trusted bag for its price.. I mean, it is a bit expensive but budget for a winter down bag!! It's a bit of a costly little lesson learnt but comfort is the key to a great camp isn't it. I would ask around a bit on UA-cam, everyone's always been really nice and helpful when we've asked, and get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. If there's anything else you ever want to ask that you might have noticed us using or anything really, ask us anything, anytime.. it's a lovely little community thing isn't it.. that's why we tried making the odd video.. it was just really nice to have a go, join in and connect with some lovely people. 😊🏕️💚

      @FeralFrolics 22 дні тому

      Hey Chris.. thanks so much mate, hope you don't mind the mention.. It was because, we had got seriously into the hiking, from about 3 year ago.. so eventually, on our travels, we came across this Wildcamping thing. We'd bump into and get chatting with folk who were on their way up when we were on our way down. When they told us about what they were doing, we just thought, wow, that's sounds special! Then we came across it on UA-cam and it so appealed in a big way. When you're camp at Wrigley's Cabin appeared, that was it.. we just had to give this Wildcamping thing a go. So, to have had such a special, memorable camp at the Cabin, your vid was forefront in my mind and it was the reason we had found ourselves living in such a wonderful place.. if only for one night! ✨🏕️👍✨

    That was a great trip Matts and Donna, I love the editing. I’m not familiar with Glossop side. The new tent will be great for some longer trips so have you one planned yet? My son in law has the same tent and used it on the Cambrian way last year. I can’t remember what tent you used before. I shall look up those kissing stones I can’t remember where they are. Anyway ATB 🙏👍🏕️🍻

      @@DaveGoodman1959 A lovely comment, Thankyou so much Dave. 💚 Yes, from over our side, Glossop is the way in to the heart of the Peak District.. a good place to park rather than on the top of Snake Pass. Your videos really gave us the bug to go on some 2/3 day wanders in the peaks, just going with the flow and being free, so hopefully we'll get on to that very soon now. The Kissing Stones are just a couple of minutes or so from Bleaklow Head with stunning views. (I still can't get over how special your last vid was Dave!) ✨ All the very best on your next one mate. 👍💚

    What was it like under foot from chew res , how long did it take and is it an easy route ?

    • @FeralFrolics
      @FeralFrolics 2 місяці тому

      @@MrJud62 The path down the side of Chew Res was notoriously boggy and muddy so we was prepared for that, but there's been work done on it.. they've put rocks all along the path and it was great, miles better! When you get down the far end of the Res, the path becomes very sketchy mate, but you bear right and go up hill.. eventually you come to a fence line with a stile on it, so even if you've gone off track a bit, look for the stile. After the stile, the path is very clear and 10 mins down from there you hit the Pennine Way path that's along the top of Laddow Rocks. From the beginning of Chew Res, I'd say it took us about 3 quarters of an hour or so. We did go off track and checked the map, but honestly mate, it's a bit of a mission but so worth it. 👍

    What a cracking video of a cracking camp, was this Friday or Saturday Mats? I was pitched at Edale rocks on Friday night, the weather wasn't this nice so that's why I ask. You got a real treat with that gorgeous sunset and sunrise, one to remember I'm sure 🙂Thanks for the shout out mate, I was well chuffed to get a mention and hope you find the parking suggestion useful for future hikes.
