    Such a bitter sweet video. I can remember freezing my butt off watching my kids skating and my son playing hockey. In the winter of course 😂 Also I'm a 30 plus years as a heavy truck mechanic and filmiulair with hydraulic system and it's just a a given hydraulic you automatically think hydraulic fluid. So in this is hydraulic fluid used in this application or is it strictly the water? Just cerious. Always have been and thought what better place to ask. You don't need bottom paint in fresh water. The worst you'll get is some algae growth, which can be power-washed off. Bottom paint will lose you some speed because its not as slippery as the factory gelcoat, and it's basically impossible to remove once some dufus puts it on. Bottom paint for saltwater only.

    • @WaterWaysTV
      @WaterWaysTV 29 днів тому

      "Need" is relative. If you have your boating sitting in the water all season, not on a trailer, there can be significant growth of marine life which can inhibit performance even in freshwater. I have to regularly clean off the hull (simple rubbing of a brush at the beach) on our 13-ft RIB which is in freshwater for 6 months of the year to get us to the island where the bigger boat is which has bottom paint and no growth/Zebra mussels thanks to the bottom paint. With larger, non-performance, boats (cruisers) the trade off in top speed is negligible and you rarely go WOT anyways. Thanks for watching! - Steve

    Funnily I went from Cobourg to Quebec City by sailboat this summer. My first experience as a sailor and the first boat for the captain. The 25 year old,35 foot boat was a little neglected but we managed to bring it to his destination. With a speed of 7 knots it was a long odyssey.

    Ex-Montreal sailor now living in Bristol Ri. I have travelled most of the Eastern Seabord including the Lake Champlain / Hudson River cruise in the 1970’s and now am docked aboard my Albin 35 Te dual diesel power cruiser on Narragansett Bay. I love your channel however Your intro video of the boat wake show multiple images of brown water as if this is the standard and usual color of Upper Canada waters. Has the waterways pollution reached the point of becoming a sewer ? That is a real turn-off for anyone from the coast contemplating cruising pristine Canadian waters. 13:17

    • @WaterWaysTV
      @WaterWaysTV Місяць тому

      If you're referring to the opening shots with the show intro/montage (and theme song) that brownish/red water is the Shubenacadie River with the red clay shoreline churned up by the tidal bore from the Bay of Fundy. The water in the Champlain Canal in NY was rather brownish but the St Lawrence and the Great Lakes are clean and clear!
