If we're only talking vinyl LPs that I have this is the list. TOP 5 ST "Romeo & Juliet" (1968) , ST "Oliver Twist" (1968) , ST "Saturday Night Fever" (1977) , "Mickey Mouse Disco" (1979) , and "Cats" (1983) . I have JOHNNY CASH "Live At Folsom" (1968) 📀and "Tommy" (1975) on CD 📀HONORABLE MENTION on vinyl. "Men of the Mall" (1959) , JUDY COLLINS "Recollections" (1972) , MONKEES "Best of" (1976) , RITA COOLIDGE "Love Me Again" (1978) , and ST "Arthur" (1981) .
Always subjective, this is one of the best “must-have” videos I’ve seen. Great list. I would only suggest Electric Ladyland over Are You Experienced.
My bruce record is born in the USA
You tell me. I did nothing wrong . I cant stand these fools. I know hundreds times more than all of them put together. They call me special needs. Complain about my looks. Make fun of where i am from. Guess what? I have as much right to be here as any of these clowns. There .i said it,!
You have a great sense of must have iconic albums (particularly for somone your age) and there's really no disputing your top ten. For the most part they are fairly obvious to someone with your degree of knowledge and rock/pop music history. Even though I have few albums now (gave away 500 when cd's came) I have most in your top ten.
Waited For Ok Computer or in Rainbows
Me save
You missed the boat on Steely Dan never made a bad album!
The 25 album you should own are 25 albums YOU like. Dont let someone else tell you what YOU should own. No album is "essential"
This is an excellent video. Thanks for sharing it. Hope more people will watch this.
Despite my having thousands of records/CDs in my collection, I only have 11 of these. I would have these on my Top 25: The Moody Blues' DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED, Beach Boys' PET SOUNDS, Moby Grape's MOBY GRAPE, Elvis Presley's FROM ELVIS IN MEMPHIS, and a few others.
This is a very nice list of 25 album records, thanks. Of course, I could change a minimum of 10 of them, but still a very nice list of 25 album records. It's also nice to see younger people interested in vinyl records.👍🙂
Look I have seen these done by many music or hifi magazines or sites, It just seems strange to me a very young man quoting what older men have grown up with. I just get a sense of you going through the motions without feeling it like they did. It's literally the same list from What HiFi magazine. But good luck.
That's definitely a Linkin Park hat you're wearing. I own the same one 😂. I would add A Thousand Suns to a list of must owned albums
why i should have this records in my colection? if i dont like the music they have incide.
He ain't forcing them on you. It's just a list from recommendations by hifi folk in general. He is too young to really know them in depth, this list us identical to what magazines & websites put out.
Haha..another millennie kid sit and talk about 40-60 years old records like he was there back in time..🤣.
Great selection of albums.
What do you do with the records you no longer want?
I agree 100% with you!! Great video!!
Your mom has good taste in music, I have the Beatles/1967-1970 blue cover never been opened and made in Germany. Great video's!!
Abraxas by Santana for me.
Pass
If you asked me to guess a list it would virtually be the same..all typical choices and quite dated with little or no respect for some modern classics..On the other hand this is personal choice...I have an all time list of standout albums but I also have a more widespread set of favourites.... All time...for me would include..Van Halen l.. Montrose l... Queen ll and Sheer Heart Attack ..Billion Dollar Babies by Alice...Led Zeppelin ll.. Rainbow Rising...3 Doors Down.. Highway to Hell..Alter Bridge,Fortress .Creed, Human Clay... Goodbye YB Road ,Elton...Kings of Leon , Only by the night....Lou Reid Transformer...The Killers, Sam's Town....Shinedown,Sound of Madness....Suede, Dog Man Star...Supertramp, Crime of the Century....T Rex,Electric Warrior....Thin Lizzy, Live and Dangerous.....U2 Joshua Tree...Strangers in the Night,UFO....Winery Dogs ,Hot Streak...etc...
So funny you said this! I am new to UA-cam and thought I was being too critical I have been collecting records since 1965 when I got my first Beatles 45. Thank you for expressing this setting the RECORD straight! Humor helps lol thanks again for being Inclusive not Exclusive Be Kynd so true love it!
I would suggest American Beauty Sweetheart of the Rodeo All Things Must Pass and The Band and what about Eat A Peach live albums Blood on the Tracks
My Top 15 ranking: 15 - The Final Cut 14 - More 13 - The Endless River 12 - A Momentary Lapse Of Reason 11 - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn 10 - A Saucerful Of Secrets 09 - Obscured By Clouds 08 - The Division Bell 07 - Ummagumma 06 - Meddle 05 - The Wall 04 - Animals 03 - Atom Heart Mother 02 - Wish You Were Here 01 -The Dark Side Of The Moon The most controversial placement in my ranking is probably Ummagumma at Number 7. Most Pink Floyd fans will call it the worst Pink Floyd album and I can totally understand that, however Ummagumma has grown on me over time and I actually really like it.
You know the Axis Bold cover, is actually kind of a mistake. When the artist asked Hendrix for an idea for the cover, he replied "Do something Indian", meaning, Native American but the artist gave him the 'other Indian'.. India, the country. Hehe that explains the rather incongruous theme for the look of the second album.
Right on I’m 75 and have played RECORDS on every type of player and have records older than me that was played on every type of player most sound just like new those that don’t were probably bought in that shape. You’re right stop the snobby attitude and pass on useful information! Even at my age I have learned a lot of useful information
This old baby boomer enjoyed your video. Nice job with some excellent choices. As for a contemporary pick, give Greta Van Fleet’s “The Battle At Garden’s Gate” a listen sometime. It is the most cinematic and epoch an album as I’ve heard in decades. Keep up the good work.
Get a life. Not everyone has the same musical taste as you.
Why would i own 25 records that i would never listen to ?
Why are you replying you dozy Aussie ? 😂
@@HDIrwin Why are you.?
@@aussierob7177 Because you're a negative swine ?
@@HDIrwin Don;t you mean positive contemptible person ?
Eventhough I do not like & or listen to this particular band, my favourite album cover of all-time is *The Clash - London Calling.* I mean if it does not *SCREAM … ROCK N’ ROLL* then I do not know which album cover ever has.
But The 🤴 isn’t searching for an entry into hip-hop 😆
Great list. I would substitute the following, all perfect albums: - The Doors: The Doors - The Moody Blues: In Search of the Lost Cord - Fleetwood Mac: Then Play On - Peter Gabriel: So
I've been collecting vinyl records since i was 3yrs old when my dad bought the first record player in 1968 all thru my life i used cheap record players to listen to them cause i could not afford a good quality record player, until i was 17yrs.
Why should EVERYONE own these??
That's a weird question. Isn't it obvious, that it means something along the lines of: everybody in the vinyl community, with a love for rock? But that would be a crappy title for a video
@@just4therecord374 I buy records because I like them...not because someone else likes them. A better title would be "Records I Recommend". To each his own...
@David Oswell - Yes I know, right? I mean how dare those of us who like music not own every single one of these releases? After all, who in their right fuckin’ mind would not purposely want to spend their hard earned money on vinyl that would just sit around & gather dust? Rather than spend those same monies on LP’s from artists/bands they would/do truly enjoy listening to instead.
My Lord you are a sensitive snowflake, it is an opinion based video. Dont like his selections? Dont buy them. Simple.
keep up the great videos !
I really enjoyed your video Thank you for you and your comment
You could leave all Springsteen records off any must have list…totally overrated "artist". Although I have all the one's you listed, lol!
The same thing is with cassettes and cassettes players.
Great list! I'm just missing two of these.
Hi, I really enjoyed your entry into Rob’s tag. I was going to make several positive comments, Folsom great album, Pink Floyd wonderful band, Bowie superb, but Bruce… wow! Darkness is also my favourite Bruce album, I think it is one of the very best albums ever made. Second for me is Born to Run. Really good tag. Keep spinning and I have subscribed. Mike
Keep it up!!! Don't miss out = P R O M O S M!!
I wouldn't tell someone that their Crosley record player is "shit" but to alert them that records cost quite a bit of money so it would be worthwhile to upgrade to a phonograph that won't damage their pricey vinyl .
In the real world none of those toxic people matter. Live your life, buy what you like and play whatever you have in what ever manner you see fit. 🖖🚀
You nailed it. What I have found is that 9 times out of 10 it's not even about these people being "bad" people. When you look underneath it's about them being HORRIBLE communicators and projecting. It's like they learn something, are "proud" of their knowledge gained, but have ZERO CLUE how to be respectful or share it with people to create a positive interaction and consideration for people who are at an earlier stage.
Adjustable anti-skate would be a factor for me. There are different ways it’s achieved, some, better than others. Without the correct anti-skate the stylus won’t track the center of the groove correctly. Then you will get more sound out of one channel to one speaker as the stylus will most likely lean into one side or the other of the groove. Personally I’ve gone new on my turntables, but I tend to stick in the low to mid range on price. I currently run a Fluance RT-81. A simple table that lends itself to upgrading. Upgrading your table though different styli and platters is another way to get better sound on the cheap. Great video. Great info. If I were to add anything else to tell a beginner, “Don’t over think it.”
The VC isn't toxic at all generally apart from a tiny minority of sad people who leave bigoted comments (not stuff like this which is tame by comparison) on certain peoples videos. It shouldn't ruin the fun for most people and it doesn't. I don't think its necessary to have a go at anyone for owning a Crosley or similar type player but at the same time I certainly couldn't recommend it to anyone. People can find out this stuff for themselves however. I think this judgement of the VC as 'toxic' is unfair and unrepresentative of what most people in the community feel about it.
Hey, thanks for your reply. I'm with you. Of course this is just about a small minority. But a loud one. Cheers
Recently came across your channel and think you do a fabulous job. One of my favorites!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you are enjoying your time here.
Nice job !
