For over 75 years Hull Cartridge has manufactured the Finest Ammunition for game and competition shooting. As game shooting in the UK evolves and we champion new eco friendly technologies, our non toxic cartridges retain the reliable characteristics that distinguish our brand. Footage: 2018
I have to smile. I personally know first hand, game shots who consistently kill challenging partridge using 21gram sevens out of 28 bores. In fact I would go as far as to say that on many shoots, (not talking about the stupidly high ones), a twelve bore plus a fairly heavy load is over gunning it somewhat these days. No wonder game dealers have become picky about the birds they take in.
Nice to see an actual real game gun in use toward the end.
Please send some of your shells to the USA. we have ok but need better.
Hull cartridges are the best👌
I am from Iran and I love your hunting styles and I hope to be able to attend in one of those great hunting Events
Weather looked nice @josh!
I Hope for this company Come to Tunisia for us to buy those cartridge
There is no magic cartridge for game or vermin control they all go bang and kill if pointed it the right direction and in range just another sale pitch.
100% correct.
And how do you know that ? You have tried them , and against what ? How did they pattern ?
@@oldbuzzard76 it's called Taylored advertising..
It looked like Josh ! was shooting an mk 38 sporter with 32 inch barrels . So there wouldn’t be any recoil in such a heavy gun ???
Nicely made film and David was obviously a great host. Cartridges looked impressive and I am sure to try a few boxes this season.
I just love these driven bird shoots and top it off with relaxing music. Epic
Josh Brown is super- I went to school with him. We used to throw cabbages for John bidwell in PE who was in the year above us. Memories…
I can't wait for next year. Awesome shoot
Great show guys. Thank you 👍
The only people who promote steel shot are the ones that get them given for free to promote
The wads don’t break down even after two years
I run a game shoot. These wads mimic plastic wads in appearance and do not look good on the ground or present a good impression of shooting irrespective of them being biodegradable. I will ask people not to use them on my shoot.
Bismuth is a non starter except for the well heeled!
Great Stuff 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
With the price of bismuth, unless you're shooting old guns that aren't, or you don't want proofed for steel, £1500/thou is prohibitive, I'm looking forward to patterning some more steel, I asked someone on the stand at a previous Game Fair, what about the 20b 3"? Was told there might be something coming, and here it is! 24g of shot, especially English 4s isn't enough, but the 28g 3s I think will be good 👌🏻
I feel more sophisticated from just watching this ad!
Decision has been put back for another five years , at last someone sensible letting science and facts dictate the outcome.
6:50 dude shoots with his middle finger?
A crackin video production!
Well done Bunny💪🏻
Going to book myself on this next year
A superb event year on year 👌
right on Johnny
I am yet to grasp why the new trend of wildfowl loads (32 34Grm) loads are being used on normal partridge. What is that all about. Do we now have to use large load steel cartridges in this application ? Normally I would use Hull three Crown or Imperial Game. It all seems a bit Macho and mucho??🤔 🤔
It very much depends where you are shooting. Partridge over flat ground I happily shoot with 21g 7.5 through a 20g with no problem (lead) but wouldn’t dream of this on a higher bird shoot. The objective is a clean kill, so higher birds require bigger loads. Steel is less dense than lead so you need proportionally bigger shot to hold the required energy, and with bigger shot sizes you will need a higher grammage to keep pattern density. Pick the load for the correct application and no problem.
Seems to be fun ! Why are shotcams not allowed?
For the same reason coaching is not allowed in a registered tournament. It gives a shooter an unfair advantage. If I am missing a target and Ed Solomons tells me I am missing in front, it gives me a definite advantage over the shooters who don't have Ed standing behind them. The same is true with a shotcam. You can check to see where you missed a particular presentation, and make an adjustment on a similar target later on in the course.
KE = 1/2 mv2 here lies the problem, loose the mass and you’ve got to up the velocity which is not ideal for even patterns. If you can afford bismuth go and see how it looks on paper, made me wince, sorry.
Can’t wait to have a go 👍👍
S&B super trap are the best cartridge😉😉😂😂
The simple answer is to drop the price and people will buy it.... simples. Have the courage to be the cheapest and watch your sales figures for non-lead go through the roof! Is lead actually toxic?
Please don't waste your time telling us how good they are, when in reality all of them are a very poor second to lead. Some shooting organisations and cartridge manufacturers are taking the shooting fraternity for fools and insulting it's best customers. The whole lead debate is really flawed from the start. The old battle fields of the First World War in France are heavily contaminated with both lead and steel. These, once what were battle fields, are now huge arable fields on the whole. Bullets still to this day, can be found on the surface also shrapnel balls in both lead and steel. I would take it that animals grazing this land and crops grown on this land have therefore be a real health hazard for the past 100 odd years? You and the other shooting organisations that are supposed to represent our sport ought to be pointing this out, rather than kissing establishment rear view mirrors. I still actually know of some houses with lead waterpipes and an artesian well. I strongly suspect no one will reply, because it's far easier to hide behind, and promote the narrative. I will also make the prediction, here and now, that if this this nonsense gets forced upon us and promoted by yourselves that game shooting will be ended within ten years.
I think the goal is to remove all shooting sports through increasing bureaucracy, there is little or no care for the environment by the government. unless it means taxing us more. The use of arbitrary snap legislation has been brought into force over the last couple of years, I'm thinking that will continue.
@@TylerDurdan241 Your absolutely right. This is how the world is governed today. No one has the courage of their, alleged convictions to state their beliefs, and organisations like BASC will always send a paid front man to do their bidding. Truth and facts, don't count for anything these days. Shooting, I am afraid is on the hit list, by all means possible, and I am forecasting that we will be the last generation to experience it, in its full glory. Some shooting organisations that have been paid by its members to fully defend the sport and its members have 100% betrayed, members, sport, and themselves alike.
Absolutely spot on the BASC just rolled over without any resistance or any consultation with its members that’s why I didn’t renew my membership.
Sorry but I can clearly see some of these birds are getting hit and still flying. I’m all game for protecting the environment and not using lead but not game for hitting a bird and it not been dead. End of the day we are here to kill birds and not to injure them.
At least Bismuth won’t chip my tooth like steel will.
The cost is mentioned but not specified - if a carton of half decent steel costs £100 approx, then how much would a carton of bismuth cost?
Bismuth cartridges tend to be about 3x the price of steel, Hull high pheasent steel is approx £525 per 1000 and Hull Bismuth cartridges are approx £1,450 per 1000
Wow. Thanks for the reply.
I am not against steel shot I have shot loads of steel, but the thing that I would say about steel is if u hit a bird 25-30 yards and u give him that full pattern u destroy the bird from a hunt to eat point of few its not great, lighter loads like the 7.5 28gram load a bird to 30yard you may or may not kill the bird. There hasn't been a load made so far me that I would stick with for day in day out shooting. Its OK for you guys to say kills well but u ain't taking them birds home with you for the oven. As far a bismuth I haven't shot as iam a low end shooter just can't afford it.
Lead has not been banned and if it goes the way of legality and scientific proof lead should not been banned.Steel corrodes bismuth shatters and can ricochet.BASC &cartridge manafacturers are only interested in game shooting it's disgraceful!!!!!!
My bigger concern is not effectiveness of non toxic loads, that's proven and I've used them Wildfowling for years but availability is a real challenge where I live. Would love to try more non toxic shells but dealers just not going to stock until on the edge of a legal precipice.
Stock up on lead whole you can buy it
What is the very pretty sidelock that Adam was shooting with? Is it a Fabbri?
Yes I believe so.
Hope you folks in Britain choose bismuth or TSS over steel and really push steel out of the market. TSS matrix is a good option, just use lead pellet sizes when you’re looking for certain game types. BTW get coated bismuth pellets, way better preforming and you can kill pheasants with an English 6 shot.
TSS is great but at £5-6 a shot not going to be a volume seller. The steel options now are really good they will be my first choice when we lose lead
@@K80Ed is that a domestic shell ??? We have blended shells. 60% tss and 40 steel usd is 2.60-3.00 a shot. Most ppl in the states buy a 100 shell case with a credit card.
@@K80Ed I buy 2000 a season , I won’t be using bismuth 😂
@@duckbrian7973 no one is loading tss here outside of homeloaders due to cost. And to give you an idea on numbers of shells used per shooter per season, I go through approx 5000 rounds and there are guys/girls who do an awful lot more, hence tss being (although superb) in unrealistic option.
@@K80Ed wow 5k is a tremendous amount of shooting. Is that clays and live birds ??? Not to mention the cost to use the clay field and pay the game keeper. Wow
I’m an avid Hull Cartridge user in 12,20 and 28 bore currently and its great to see these films and the developments you are making, my only concern will be the cost of 28 bore cartridges as it seems bismuth is the only viable option. Keep up the good work and the enjoyable films.
In the US for 28ga steel there are these: USD $.52-1.36 per shot. Federal Speed-Shok Fe6, 5/8 oz, 1350 fps Federal Upland Fe7.5, 5/8 oz, 1350 fps Hevi-Shot Fe4, 5/8 oz, 1350 fps Winchester Fe6, 7, 5/8 oz, 1300 fps If they can do it, Hull certainly can.
@@NWer-c5u nontoxic is a weird thing in the UK yet , for example Gamebore has a massive steel range they sell in Scandinavia but sold under a different name , just not available here. The manufacturers really need to get their game together, a lot of people are wanting to make the switch from lead but they're just not coming out with the goods . The first company to jump in feet first with nontoxic here could literally make a killing.. I use Eley steel no.4 in my 20bore and even use steel for clay shooting now. You guys in the US have a fantastic choice 👍.
@@hammyh1165, agree, first mover advantage whoever gets going in the UK first on those. Not nearly the volume of 12 and 20, but still. One area UK and Europe are far ahead is in bio-wads. We just have some Kent, Rio offerings, and federal has a cellulose fiber wad, but that last one is just for Fe7.5 for now for clays, etc.
First love hull carts
