    I'll never understand how a group of intelligent, thinking adults can say they played the first and second game, and therefore should remember the customer reaction to the horrid combat, cut and paste scenery and changes to art style between Origins and DA:II... and then DOUBLE DOWN AND MAKE IT EVEN WORSE while saying "it's not we want it and you love it'. 🤬 OH well, they have LITERALLY told me directly that "this game is not for you then". Fine, they're right. DA:V is NOT for me, so I won't buy it. There are more ethical companies who produce better games and listen to their paying customers. I'll never forgive BioWare for this shitshow though.

      DA2 is probably my favourite of the 3 games now, it has aged like fine wine. The reused locations require a brief wince, but the plot and characters are glorious. It's good to see Veilguard borrowing from and improving on it.

      @ConscriptedKnightRose 6 днів тому

      @eartheater3956 Nah, you're right. As the video said, the combat in DA2 was hectic because of things like animation speed, long ability cooldowns, and encounter design, which made it easier to just play it like a hack and slash. But when you get down to it, the actual abilities and mechanics of DA2 were not that far from Origins, ask anyone who played on nightmare and they'll tell you how much they had to pause and play tactically. Inquisition was where they got rid of mechanics that Origins had, it just was slower. Veilguard is going full button masher, though, and looks way more like Inquisition than DA2.

    Judging by what iv seen the developers at BioWare took the easy way out and basically left the three games and the choices you makeout of this game.three choices when you start that’s it no dragon age keep even ten or fifteen choices could off put the important choices in.the character screen is a joke the male/female character creator are practically identical from 0%to100% nothing changes and surgery scars in a fantasy game and every character is gay not one or two all of them how does that represent the reality of having 90% of your customers are men that don’t seam to matter to these people have they learned nothing this game will not sell well what a shame I love Thedas

      A pretty foolish assessment. Did you not play Skyrim where every romance (as far as they went) was pansexual? The point is that characters can romance who they want. If you are seeing gay romances in the game, that's because your character is flirting with same sex characters.

    To me the discussion is like paddling in a kiddie pool disguised as some philosophical discourse. The conversation of "what art is" or "what defines art" is the most useless, arbitrary, pseudo intellectual topic anyone could talk about. Art is a made up thing, nothing defines it. Anything can be art. The discussion stops there. The instructions for a washing machine are art, the artistic quantity may be small but it is there. The conversation is just useless. People don't potter about all day having stupid discussions if books or films are art, because that's a waste of time. People are so eager to stagnate in this race to "prove" that games are art when there's no need. The only people denouncing them are people who see art as a superiority game, they don't actually care about art but rather the appearance of being a cultured individual. They aren't worth acknowledging, yet they and they alone fuel this silly conversation. The only piece of discourse I've seen regarding the definitions of art I like comes from Gombrich, "There is no such thing as art, only Artists." Art can be defined by each individual person. This only becomes a problem when someone tries to impose their own ideas of art onto others. I don't care if someone doesn't consider games to be art according to their own definitions, but I do care when they delude themselves into thinking this is a universal truth. So I could disagree with some of your ideas that art must be tied to some narrative or inherent meaning, because I believe that emotions and experiences detached from that still have artistic validity, so something like Super Mario World is still a piece of art with great depth because it incurs emotions and feelings and experiences from its gameplay and mechanics which are pretty much entirely detached from any story or theme. (and this isn't even going into the artistic validity of the craftmanship of games themselves. In an action game, the level design, enemy design, player capabilities, and so, so much more have to be finely tuned and carefully crafted. That's art right there, in my mind at least.) but that doesn't mean that my definition is more true than yours, because art is an arbitrary, made up idea that changes from person to person.

    I also forgot to add the “Darkest Dungeon”, in which some random crap constantly happens that nothing can be done about (just like in life): either the hero who has almost become your son gets sick and dies or you decide to take a risk and fail everything . An excellent simulator "I can definitely handle it." I really liked the game design of Kingdom Come. With limited saving options, you often find yourself in a situation where, after making a “wrong” choice, you simply regret replaying the last 2-3 hours and this forces you to come to terms with the imperfection of your own actions and decisions.

    One of my favorite atmospheric game, Alot of late 2000 games made in Eastern Europe (Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Czech, Hungary) focus alot on story and the atmosphere and feel to it, especially any games that was published by 1CCompany like Cryostasis and You are Empty and Stalin Subway. There are many memorable scene in Cryostasis, for me it was Danko Flamming heart that I first time heard about. The most unnerving part is the underwater part where you are walking slowly in a Diving Suit. The scene with the cow slaughter house and you basically released the cows, and the Prisoners who attempt to break out from the ship only to have the Ship Guard mocking the prisoners that they are free to go outside the freezing cold and then later tell the Prisoners that they are welcome to go back to their warm cell and hot soup, you can basically feel the Prisoners all feel defeated en masse and faced the reality. The ending I still wonder if Alexander died and went to heaven or did he change history that he survived and see the ship crew all survived? Also since the game supposed to be set in 1981, but the ship incident feel like it happened decades ago, but when Alexander met the captain again they all look the same.

    The most interesting thing in this regard is Dishonored, as for me. In fact, you can go through the whole game without touching a single person and get the happiest ending, but at the same time the developers give you a mountain of tools for "self-expression" and directly forbid you to use them. As a result, the choice is between morality and fun....and of course - the cruel way in the game is the most fun. According to Village producer Tsuyoshi Kanda, Resident Evil 7 seemed too scary to some players - impressionable people just couldn't go through it, even though they were very interested. Therefore, in the eighth part, the authors decided to slightly reduce the degree of horror: they say, fear should not paralyze you, but force you to act - move, fight, look for resources and use them wisely. Moreover, as Kanda noted, if the user is too often scared, over time he will develop immunity to horror.
