So I'm 62 and in 82 @ the age of 20 I lived in needles cal. We would get 8 -12 people make our way to the other side of the river across from the riverside casino ...dropped off of course by a couple trucks and @ the break of dawn we would Float all the way to muscle beach in needles. The river runs @ about 3 miles and hour and it would take us about 12 hours. Its like 30 miles. Did it 3 times back in my day. Now that's a float!! BTW we used tubes lol.

I was just there 7/2023 on Wednesday there was no river. At all. Scary lol of course they filled it later in the day but I’ve never seen it like that and it was so depressing

Wow. Wish we would have seen this before we went out today. But it's a year later and still like that. Our JetSki got stuck on a rock sandbar and ate rocks damaging our jetski. No signs warning launch at your own risk or Danger extremely shallow. Possible damage to your boat. They just let you launch with no warning. It should be tied off and blocked. Never knew it would be like that. Soooo low.

Just relax, as the snow fall in many parts of Colorado is at near record levels. I'm sure that by mid June/July this mighty river will be roaring back to life.

That whole river is dangerous especially when all the jet skis are flying up and down like maniacs

Before the Avi casino was built we used to ride our3-wheelers there and one year the water was so low we were able to ride to about 40 feet from the arizona side because the dredge for some reason would dredge the arizona side only making a very deep gorge from where the Avi is now to topock

You said they lowered the river level to get rid of the flies. You better educate yourself. The reason the water level is so low is because of the serious drought conditions we have been experiencing. Look how low the water levels are in lake mead and lake Powell. That’s why the river is so low, lack of water.

In just a few years you'll be able to cross and be lucky to get your feet wet. Go look at Lake mead and Powell. Mead is just 40 feet from dead pool. In other words a POND.. The dam can only run 4 turbines because the water is so low they cavitate and burn up like one did last month. Like it or not folks , global warming by Mother nature and man has go us where we are today. The entire west including Vegas is in a 22 year drought. The reason the washes are dry and homeless people are living in them is because lake las Vegas robs the water that would be going to lake mead and be paid for like everyone else including the rich, that are stealing the water legally (questionable). Its not about the flys regardless of what they tell you. Lol hilarious 🤣

Ran across your video; we've stayed in Laughlin almost every year since 2010 while on our way to Quartzsite in January, when they used to let RV's park above used to be River Palms. Now even Harrah's closed their convenience store and RV lot, but there is still places to park for a few nights. Enjoyed your video, didn't think you would make it, but sucess! The water must've felt refreshing with the hot weather, except for the flies. Thanks!

They close the Davis every night When.the dam is open the current is probably to strong for a person to walk across.

As many times as I've been in Laughlin, I never thought a person could walk across it. Very interesting!

I was in the middle of it as well.....bullhead parkway and silvercreek....2 people died on the lake during that storm....swept off the floating device and got caught by the current. 1 made it the other did not right in front of the riverside Casino on the bullhead city side.. .1 person was blown off the jet ski caught by the super fast current and never came up...body found a mile or 2 down stream ....be careful out there fam...

Thanks for showing the water levels there.....hard to find! The real problem is that Colorado is diverting Western Slope waters (by a trench and tunnel system) to the Eastern Slope.....to serve the growing population of Denver and the Front Range. If they need and continue to do this......the desert southwest will continue to dry up!
