    Ok I know this is an old video but I have some gripes. Tin/lead solder can be eutectic or non eutectic. 63/37 vs 60/40 for instance. The lead free stuff is harder to work with, slower to wet that is, but is usually SnCu or SnCuAg. So nothing "as bad as lead" in it. Using lead free solder won't ruin your tips as long as you separate your tips between lead and non lead because it's the mixing of the two that messes things up. Personally I like to work with 63/37 rosin core but these days I have to order it because finding lead alloy solders in consumer stores has gotten harder and harder.

    Hello. I have a 32" polaroid tv that suddenly stopped working. No power. In order to establish whether it is a problem with the power supply i have a multimeter but need to identify exactly which is the power board. I can see two boards. The main board TP.MS6486X PB712 and a smaller infra red board IR-56(20191022).

    You should never listen to a boomer on this topic. They like to say "I grew up huffing and eating lead and it didn't give me brain damage" but their opinions on lead should tell you that is completely false. Modern lead-free solder works perfectly fine, it just doesn't come out as shiny. You shouldn't risk lead poisoning just so your soldering can be shiny, you aren't a seagull. If you really need your soldering to be decorative there are polishes that can do that. It wont "destroy the tip of your soldering iron" either, it's just tin.

      Too bad noone answered. Not sure myself. Probably not going to be using lead in a water system and temperatures of copper pipe differ from copper wire so heat could be an issue.

  • @maybeakshh

    The best is 60/40 lead and tin solder, 2 core seems good. Who need 5 core rosin.

    • @joeteejoetee
      @joeteejoetee 2 роки тому

      1 core has served for 100 years - 2 cores for really fat solder diameters I guess. 5 core was a marketing gimmick, and is not needed.
