Beginner friendly game engine? Try Source engine
2:24 Fog. With your accent I wouldn't say that word too much XD (Just a little reference to the movie Hellboy)
Cryengine is a mess and hopeless both in community and market. Do not use this engine. It is a waste of time. This engine is simply a tool that is praised and used by fanboys who are blinded by the glory of the past crysis, but they cannot get any materials they need. There are no tutorials on youtube and no market assets that can be used for game production. This makes the vicious cycle of users not using this engine even more and no learning materials or assets are produced.
Very impressive! I did not understand 10% of it, but was still impressed. Keep up the good work, you can make a fortune with this talent.
awesome thank you, all tutos ive found do this movie render queue BS and i just want a still image!!
Sandbox editor is very intuitive to use actually, game logic is easy to learn with flowgraphs, less complicated than Unreal Blueprint, but workflow is very cumbersome though, as in the video shown, to import textures or 3d models is a pain, you have to use proprietary tools like photoshop, Maya, 3ds max, too many proprietary plugins that are outdated..
Crytek doesn't care about their users anymore. People who use this engine are just fanboys who are blinded by the past glory of crysis. It's all outdated and only used by idiots who are crazy about some visual features. All you can do with it is shoot guns in the SDK and satisfy yourself.
jesus loves you
Hello thank you very much for the greatest photoscan tutor!
I create my first video tutorial about CryEngine this month. I like learning complex things and teaching others. I think I can make tech demo game with CryEngine, but not a full game. I use Unreal Engine to make my games. UE4 and UE5. Cheers!
I create my first video tutorial about CryEngine this month and uploaded on UA-cam. I like learning complex things and teaching others. I think I can make tech demo game with CryEngine, but not a full game. I use Unreal Engine to make my games. UE4 and UE5. Cheers!
Using this engine is a waste of time. There is no learning material and no assets.
When I first saw a game engine, it was Cryengine. I now use Unrealengine, but I still like Cryengine. After learning it, I think it's simpler than UnrealEngine in my opinion. The only drawback is that you can't create games for every platform. I'm not sure why this is challenging when newcomers like Godot, which can fit on a floppy disk, can create games for every platform. Unity is nonsense.
Unreal Engine is simpler. This engine is just old and has no learning materials or assets. It is a waste of time to make a game with this engine. If you want to make a custom shader, you have to hard code the program yourself. In Unreal, everything can be done with Blueprints. And you can search all the learning on UA-cam. This engine is not worth using.
I am recently trying to decide what camera I should choose. Do you think it will make a big difference between the Sony A7III and the A7RIII? Of course more megapixels, but I heard that not only that matters. Currently my setup is an iphone 11pro and I would like to go deeper in this topic and also a camera for shooting pictures on vacation.
HI, great work on your videos. As a disabled old guy just getting into photogrammetry, it is helping immensely .I do wonder something especially as I am just starting, is / are nerfs, spatting and the new stuff in AI (luma labs) going to be making photogrammetry not needed or ? D,,

I grew up on Armored Core. I want to make mechs but I feel like I'm too late to enter the industry.
Dude. If you drop dead tomorrow, you are too late. This is such a young industry. Everybody can join. Just get started. This industry is just growing.
I am new to game development myself and I wanna make a physics sandbox game (like Gmod) and CryEngine seems about perfect for it, After playing Crysis, I genuinely found myself to be in awe of the physics and how much better it simulated things to Source so it seems like a perfect option, I have messed around in the CryEngine 2 editor quite a bit (which is actually unforgivingly different compared to actual CryEngine) and after sacrificing a gaming laptop to running Windows (because I could not figure out the CryEngine launcher under Wine or Proton) and while I am a dumb beginner it is harder to make the HUD than it should be, harder then just copying and pasting gamedata.pak from Crysis Remastered into the sample project which is based of Crysis 2. I guess all i really have been doing in CE2SB was mess around with the physics engine, so theres that.
There is nothing you can do with this engine. There is no community to help you with any problems, no learning materials and no assets. Don't waste your time. Use unreal and unity.
I wanted to learn it and there is your video appearing out of nowhere😂🤣

obviously you have been supported by them, nobody wants houdini as a small team devs...
Unfortunately wrong. i pay for my license ;)

Korrekt
This speaks to me on such a personal level! In 2015, I wanted to do game dev for the first time, and I picked CryEngine because of how cool it looked. I played with it for 2 months every day, mostly creating maps with the built in assets, the terrain tools and the weather system. I remember it looking amazing! But when I wanted to use other assets from outside the engine, or do any scripting, there was just nothing out there to help. So I eventually gave up because of all the reasons you mentioned in this video. I picked up Unreal 2 years ago and have been able to do things I never thought I could. I'm in Unreal every day now, and its such an incredible tool. I legitimately kick myself for this decision to use CryEngine in 2015 because I wasted 7 years thinking game dev was too hard and just not for me. The amount of experience I could have had if I just looked at alternatives back then...but hindsight is always much clearer. Better late than never right?
Well thought out. CryEngine is just a dedicated tool for internal game development at Crytek. It doesn't have any services or sales strategies for users like Unreal or Unity. They don't care about users. I'm glad you stopped wasting your time.
I worked with the cry engine a few years ago. I was kinda like it. Right now i use the Ultra Engine which is realy good.
Oh nice! Thanks for sharing that. I need to give Ultra Engine a try. Why are you not using Unreal Engine or Unity?
@@thetriangleforge well i dont want to use what everyone is using. I also like the workflow from ultra engine. But the big point is that the engine is royalty free this means you dont need to share fee's after successfull release an game
@@676-Games I agree with what you about not using an engine because of everyone using it, aka Unity and Unreal Engine. But also I can not stand the UI in Ultra Engine which is why I do not use it either. My biggest pet peeve about that engine is the UI.
@@HolyItsTruncus well i dont decide which engine i use because of the ui. I think there are many factors wich comes into this. Back in the days i worked alot with unity for one project. Then i worked with the Cry Engine 3 and Torque Engine. Also i used an own C# Framework for some smaller projects without any editor at all. In the end it depeends where you want to go with your project.
@@676-Games I hear ya and you are correct, me personally I can't use a software all day looking at a bad/Ugly UI. If I am going to use a software to build something or whatever the use case of that software is, It has to have somewhat of a UI that is not outdated looking or Ugly, or whatever. I do Like Ultra Engine. I do think it is a very capable engine, I just can't get over it's UI. Just my opinion.
that's not a budget setup, just a regular setup.
Depends on the budget 🧐

Wow I just have to say your content material is fantastic. These are the kinds of subjects as a beginner I would have no idea what to even search for. Please keep up the good work.
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing video, can't wait to get it working. I'm trying to implement this inside the base layer of a layer material. I'm guessing that would cause issues with there being (mutable) conflicting layers? I want this for a shader to texture landscape *meshes*. How would you go about this? I would love to see this working in a full material, with RVT, etc
Der Deutsche Akzent ist nicht überhörbar 😅, aber gutes Video 👍
Danke Danke 😁
You could use the Texture Object with the Ord(AoRD) as the height texture & ORD Texture. Then under heightmap channel just use the Blue channel instead of the red channel you are using. I know a max steps performance increase trick as well, but you don't need or notice the difference these days..
I've seen people talking about world-aligned textures, but no one else has shown so quickly and precisely why it's important. Thank you.
