Y'all making essays arguing about ppl that don't know y'all in the comments 😂
its like 2 to 3 months since the track dropped and people still dont understand it smh
I clearly understood it, just gave my opinion on the matter
@itsverlo you clearly didnt understand the "i wouldve have lost a battle, i would have lost a bro" and other lines
Just think he’s nuts for thinking he’s be losing anything by losing a relationship with Drake one fake dude
Bro y’all just keep misunderstanding the lyrics fr like punch said nigga Cole literally meant that he would’ve lost more than just battle that’s what he meant by I wouldn’t have lost the battle I would have lost the bro
I feel like ur severely misunderstanding the "I wouldn't have lost a battle, I would've lost a bro" line, if Cole really meant he would've won then he would've just said "I would've won but lost a bro". He is purposely putting emphasis on what the battle would've cost him whether he won or lost. As for the braggadocious bars literally every rapper does this. Cole has also made it perfectly clear in his songs he would never want to battle someone unless he had beef wit them and the competition he would want is to get on a song and go back and forth with each other.
You just hattin.
My main problem with the track was that he was basically saying "If I wasnt a nice guy, I would've won." I dont know why he made a track, shouldve kept that sample for TFO, he alr explained himself at his show. There was no need to make that track other than what he was talking about in it "the doe". And basically forced respect on the situation. And I'm a huge J. Cole fan but this was not it. Yes he could prolly go bar for bar with Kenny with none of that serious stuff, cuz lets be honest, the two really dont have anything on eachother personally. But it just sounds silly for him to rap on hypotheticals. "Oh if this wasnt so serious, I wouldve joined in." Yes, mfs alr done knew this, most people are just trolling him like the internet does. The hypocrisy is also crazy. He says "I learned long ago you cant please em all and it hurts trying." Why you making a track then??? 😭😭
Well said, with that iconic dead presidents sample, he could've had a great song on The Fall Off. Overall I agree
He didn't say that shit. Stop interpreting crap just for the sake of starting something The point in the track isn't to please everyone either so what tf are you talking about? He knows ppl are gonna hate it so he still drops it. So you want him to just not explain his take on the situation? That would be pleasing you. He proves you wrong by telling Drake to stop worrying about the beef and make good music. Which is what he's doing... how is that hypocritical? He never said he would've joined in. The entire point in the apology was that he doesn't want to discredit/get toxic. He prefers going bar for bar on features or dropping an album on the same day. That's what competition means to him. Why are y'all misinterpreting everything? Him saying "the doe" isn't even about this situation. He hates mumble rap and always did. He had a convo with lil Pump and said he seems dumb but is actually smart on the inside. The music he's making and trends he's doing is for money so he's not knocking it
@@delanireid you saying i started shit but this track was unneccesary and also started shit 😂 "the doe" part was used as referrence. it didnt need to be connected to the situation. J. Cole already explained himself at the festival, he did not need to make a track 🤷♂️ you seriously didnt counter anything in my comment 😭 i'm all for debates and trying to learn cuz i dont know everything but you couldve atleast came with some solid arguments smh :/
@@joshacd150 what did this song "start"? He's simply telling Drake the apology wasn't for the sake of switching sides The doe part was a reference for what? Cole makes music... he documents his life. That's like complaining that LeBron plays basketball in a game that he doesn't have to. Why tf is it such a bad to thing to simply make a track documenting what went down when he apologized? That wasn't even the entire focus of the track. Your augment came from your ass. There's no need for deeper arguments because what you said was bullshit. Talking about he didn't need to make a track. He didn't need to stay silent. People weren't just trolling him, mfs actually got mad at him, said they were heart broken and didn't want to be a fan, and some idiots genuinely think he was scared of KDot. I proved your hypocrisy crap wrong and your misinterpretation of him saying he would've won. Y'all get mad, make conspiracies, and call people all sorts of shit when they're just being genuine... how? Why do y'all do this? Then when someone defends them they're the bad person.
@@delanireid dawg, the majority that got mad at him was mad for no reason, hence they'll be even more mad at him after this track. if he doesnt need to please everybody why make a track? and yes, this did start more shit because now alot of people who werent mad at him are mad at him. and no, you didnt prove anything wrong bru, i still stand by my statement. you cant prove a genuine opinion wrong in this situation this doesnt matter much anyway, these ppl dont know us, Cole gonna continue making great music. like he said, we cant stop him. I still think this track was unneccesary cuz it started more shit and just made him disliked by a big part of the community. I dont dislike J. Cole, I dislike this track. I dont like the argument "If I wasnt a good guy, I wouldve won". And I dont like it when mfs dont take sides and try to act neutral. It does not sit right with me. Thats just me tho 🤷♂️ Sure, great point, he does make music on his life, and he didnt need to stay quiet, I never said he didnt need to, just that I thought it was unneccesary. You do make good points though, like him wanting to tell Drake he didnt switch sides after the apology, I just think he coulve approached it in a much better way. Thank you for your opinion on it, so far.
Let’s not forget that J Cole has been throwing subliminal shots for years i.e Fire squad, GOMD, First person shooter etc. but when it was time to step up he folds. Then he takes the moral high ground over Kdot of all people ??
bro he just realized it was getting serious i doubt he want to be like how kdot and drake are right now were they don't like each other mind you he isn't in the right but you cant say that
@@tlkmoney5074 How? How did he realize it's getting srs when he dropped b4 drake and Kdot even started scrapping???
@@tylorfrancois8838 schoolboy Q went to cole show and told him that the beef is more than just about lyricism and bars. hence why kdot brought up pde allegations and drake brought up kendrick childhood trauma. If it was strictly bout bars sure but it wasnt.
@Therealwalkdown isnt that a rumor? either way i agree
I personally wouldn't say that songs like fire squad and GOMD are direct subs to kdot; Those are more so generalized shots at any rapper, something we've seen many rappers do, including Jcole. But I do agree.. this wasn't the time to back out, not in this moment, not with this momentum and not with this caliber of an opponent
1. Faces 2. WMWTSO 3. GO:OD AM for me
Finally someone throws GOOD AM up there
We all know that its Faces
Haha Good choice for sure, idk If I can say it's his best though. Love some songs and not to crazy about a select few
Every album has a different realm. I love watching movies, faces, and good am. They have all the bangers I need when I desperately need a pick me up. I can see (Circles), Objects in the mirror (wmwtso), soulmate (divine Feminine), Euphoria (wmwtso), Colours and Shapes (faces) and the Quest on WMWTSO 10 year anniversary all hit a little different today. He was a brilliant writer, but an amazing musician. He had real talent, and it's amazing seeing all of his growth. RIP MAC
Love this, well said. I agree with it all, especially how those particular songs hit different these days
To me it's kind of depends. There are times when I'm hooked on Swimming, but other times I find myself revisiting Faces and just blasting that for weeks. I love every era of Mac I think. I feel like all the albums got a unique vibe. Like we got different versions of Mac throughout the years and I think that's awesome. Loved seeing him evolve as an artist. So to me all of his albums are his best, but since I even have a tattoo inspired by Faces I would say Faces if I only get to pick one. That album is just so raw in terms of sounds and lyrics. I love how in one song it's fun and in the next it gets moody and depressing. It just feels like an adventure. Like I can imagine him in his studio recording these songs.
Another person that says Faces, it's looking like faces is the people's favorite so far. Thanks for commenting
Faces
Haven't listened to WMWTSO, want to so bad but can't find it in any record stores. It looks really intriguing and it's at that point where he's becoming more lyrically and musically conscious but he's still rapping a lot. I don't really care for GO:OD AM, it is redundant at times and the features don't always line up the best. Blue Slide Park is really fun, again sometimes redundant and arrogant in its themes, but its that frat rap era of Mac and you gotta respect it. In terms of what I've listened to, Swimming is prob my favorite, but again I haven't listened to his whole discography.
As a whole, swimming is up there for me, for sure. But man you gotta go listen to WMWTSO, what are you waiting for. Only if you were by me, I see that record relatively often when I go the record store
Love section 80 but in nooooo way is it a classic album. It is so unbelievably hit and miss. You get tracks like Rigamortis mixed with songs like Tammys song
Thanks for commenting, I can see where you're coming from but I disagree. Both of the songs you named aren't bad songs, there are others I would name before those. Rigamortis is a great song, never heard anyone say other wise and Tammy song may not be for you but it's not a bad song I don't think and sticks to the narrative of the album of speaking from someone from the area's perspective.
@@itsverlo I was saying rigamortis aka great songs mixed with Tammy's song...which I disagree. That's songs awful haha and with several tracks like that it's not a classic at all. I've heard people listen to tons of songs from this project. never heard anyone listen to Tammy's song on their own haha. It's like no makeup. Do you actually listen to that song and think...wow I'm listening to a classic album 🤣 these tracks are rough listens
What an incredibly stupid take 😂wow go listen to Taylor Swift. Section 80 is generational and it has an incredible theme
@@KennethStBrice Are you a 7 year old or something 🤣 if you think that's a stupid take you have the rap IQ of a tomato hahahah delusional
@@KennethStBrice Be honest. We all know you go home dress in drag, listen to no makeup while you spin around in circles in your room 🤣
Good vid, and i agree with the most part, but the reason why this album doesn’t get mentioned alot is because although it has high high’s it also has really lows lows, some of the worst songs in kendricks discog. Gkmc/tpab/damn/ mr moral are all easy 9/10 albums, section 80 would bring down his gpa
Thanks and thanks for commenting, could you elaborate on some of the "worst songs" I'd love to know which ones you put in that category. Because although mr morale is good, there's def some lackluster songs on there, especially the second half.
@@itsverlo thats intersting, i would say the second half of mmatbs is much better, but thats also an album that kinda brings down his avg, although it would still be a 8 rather than a 6,5 like section.80, and i would say the songs that tank the score are songs like : no make up, hol up, fuck ure ethnicity, tammy's song (also just wanna say i like this songs lmao and would still be highlights for most artists but for an artists of kendricks caliber they stick out like a sore thumb cause they feel very 2010/2011 ) also songs like chapter 6 and 10 although good for the cohesiveness of the album are kinda unecessary arent of the highest quality and just make it more bloated
time out... hol up and fk ur ethnicity are not bad songs by any means, that take I truly disagree with. But understand where you're coming from when it comes to something you may find outdated. I can agree with the "chapter" songs, they are not my favorite but are short and sweet and carry the narrative of the album. But you could say the same thing about Mr. Morale. with Songs like "Crown" "united in grief and worldwide steppers". Mind you, I like these songs, I'm just naming them for the sake of this argument, especially since you said section 80 is a 6.5 and Mr. morale is easily a 9. So I can meet you in the middle, if you don't think it's a classic, that's fine but its damn sure not a 6.5/10
The answer is zero classic albums, and that's a certified fact.
🤣
I can't take the music in the background
🔥
No. fuck this fruit cake music
Haha 🤷♂ Thanks for the dumbass take
@itsverlo no problem bro
Great comments. Well thought out. This band took my breath away when I caught up with them a few years after their first few EP and MLIC release by hearing Moaning Lisa on the radio (not following up though or finding out name of band even) then I caught Beautifully Unconventional on radio a year or two later and wanted to know name of band. Then Realised it was same guys that made MLS. NOW I had to follow them up on UA-cam and started with She (Blew me away) the rest of their EP's and MLIC. Best band I have come across in years... Agree with their growth through next two albums. Not sure which is my favourite though Blue Weekend was non stop repeat listening unlike their second album which was a real slow burn for me.
First off thanks for the lengthy response, I enjoy comments like this. Secondly, I have to agree with almost everything you said. The 2nd album wasn't as much of a slow burn for me, but to be honest I haven't revisited MLIC in sooo long. I think song for song, blue weekend is their best followed by VOAL, Then MLIC, for now at least. I'm actually listening to MLIC again as I type this and I think I forgot how good it is. I saw them perform moaning lisa smile live, it's one of the songs that really caught my attention to the band as a whole, but ultimately that goes to "Bros" and "Your Loves Whore" Definitely one of the best bands I've come across over the years. It's nice to come across another fan after all of this time. I should really get the vinyl of the 2nd album to complete the collection. It's been a few years I bet within the next year, we get another album by them. It's pretty weird to me even if I don't love their music at first, it almost always grows on me without a doubt. This re-listen of MLIC has been so great, I've slept on this album for far to long and I have to say, its better than the 2nd album, which I didn't think was the case for a long time. The 2nd album is definitely more aggressive or rock based, but is still good overall. Thanks for commenting and watching
I see your talent . Apple don’t fall too far from the tree
MOTM is a classic! So many memories come to mind when I think about this album. Cudi broke the mold with this one. Side note: you have a very soothing voice! 😅

@@itsverlo Would be fun to see a video where you rank their discography🙌 Have you seen them live?
@@gummiaudun Oooo I like that Idea, I think I may do that actually in the future. I have seen them live and it was probably the closest thing to a religious experience lol. Have you and also, what album is your favorite?
@@itsverloLook forward to that video! Oh yes ive seen them atleast 10 times now. First time was the Reykjavik concert in 2006 🙌 Fav album is tough but I’d say Takk, ( ), Ágætis Byrjun are top 3 in that order🫶
@@gummiaudun okay good picks, for me it has to be Valtari, takk, ( ) in that order, this is subject to change of course. 10 times is crazy though, I had a chance to see them last year but passed on it. I have to see them at least once more. I noticed that no one talks about valtari, I wonder why? I know its a softer, slower paced record, but maybe that's why I like it so much
Fantastic video and seeing so many albums I am not familiar with. Didn't expect to see Best of Bread in there. Enjoyed watching. Thanks.

Dude I want The Final Cut so bad, it’s honestly one of my favorite Pink Floyd albums right next to the wall
Why not just go for it, its $28 on amazon right now. At some point I stopped seeing this particular vinyl out in the wild like I used to.
Spike lee joint is my go to track off a laced odyssey. Totally agree that Vacation In Hell is the better project. The cotton candy wax they did for this release is top notch 🤙🏻
Ya know, I'm mad at myself for not showing of the vinyl, I've been forgetting to do that lately but yes you are right, it's fire. Btw it's good to see that you're still subscribed. Long time no see & I hope all is well. Spike lee joint isn't one that I go to very often but I'm never mad when it comes up in shuffle. What tracks stand out to you on the vacation in hell album?
@@itsverlo of course! Happy to still see you making content. Always excited when you drop a vid. Hope all has been well for you too! The odyssey wax is up there in my collection for sure. Never too late to show it off 😂. Vacation in hell has a lot of tracks I love. My favorites are leather symphony, big shrimp, and vacation. Also really dig headstone and chunky. That record desperately needs a repress.
@@dpingy Absolutely needs a repress, im aware ill have to wait until a 10 anniversary to see another release. And thanks, its good to know someone is out there watching the content. I feel the same way about vacation in hell. there are more favorites on that versus 3001. My current favorites are, M.bison, chunky, proxies, HELLO, U&I and Trapped. Do you have a favorite member? and if so, why?
@@itsverlo fingers crossed we don’t have to wait that long for a repress 🤞🏻 but given the track record you’re prob right. If I had to choose probably Erick the Architect. Really love his flow and what he does for the beats really sets him apart for me. Meechy prob my 2nd fav/close first just cause his delivery is so unique and his lines always stick with me. Hmm. I feel like Gambino has received tons of praise on the Internet and in general, especially after “Redbone”, “This is America” and “Atlanta”. But I do agree with you that his evolution has been fascinating to watch. If you compare his singing and rapping on “Culdesac” to “BTI” or his vocals on “BTI” to “Awaken, My Love!”, you can really see how significantly he was improving from record-to-record. And that’s before you really look at his musical progress from album to album.
you hit the nail on the head, I agree with everything you said, especially his growth. Thanks for commenting
