I'm testing my Swiss Army Knife radios, ones that have two functions in addition to being a radio. All of these Play and record MP3 and have a flashlight. I selected 2 stations : China Radio International on 17765 kHz and Ifrikya FM (Algeria) on 17600. Both were inaudible without the external Sangean ANT-60 reel antenna. The following video shows the comparison between the three radios: - HanRo...

Degen DE15 Recorded on Tecsun Q3 Radio Digital Recorder

This is a sample audio recording The sound source was a Degen DE15 radio scanning through the FM band in Central Virginia. It was recorded via an AUX cable on a Tecsun Q3 Radio Recorder / Digital Audio player. The nice thing about this setup is that I can listen to the radio being tuned through the Q3 speaker when the AUX cable in the phone jack mutes the source radio.

Can we replace battery?
There is no way documented way to replace the battery.
Hola 👋. Muchas gracias y muchas bendiciones desde España 🙏♥️..
Starting with the LIJIANI RD239, more and more radios have added backlit buttons. This is a good start, but I am not used to the green light. It is scary at night.
It comes in amber.
How do I make one of these?
Check my Blog article: www.blogordie.com/2023/12/antenna-ground/

Excellent video on a nicely varied collection of SW receivers. I have the Sangean ATS405, the Eton Elite Executive and the Mesqool CR1015WB. I was curious of your experiences with the Degen DE28. I am looking for a good vertical pocket SW radio for my collection. I have the Eton Elite Mini and it is just terrific.
You might want look at my blog articles: www.blogordie.com/2023/07/battle-of-the-under-50-shortwave-radios/ . One issue with these small radios with screens is that the display can create noise. I don't recall for sure, but I think the display goes blank or something after a while to reduce the noise. I see it's under $25 on Amazon. The Raddy RF75A is another interesting shirt pocket radio.
I fought this today on 3 radios also- Qodosen DX-286, XHData D-109WB and Tecsun PL-660.
I have the 660 but you would be hard pushed to find a better looking radio in the market than the 880
perfect radio
DX-286 just doesn't sound right to my ears. Lacks definition. I sent mine back. 👍
I didn't tinker with the tone or the bandwidth controls. Stereo FM is very good with good headphones. But everything sounds poor after the PL-990.
Agreed. I didn't find the tone controls on the 286 very effective. One thing that hurts these radios sound quality, is the plastic case. Stronger and more vibration free construction would help.

Na minha avaliação, os pontos consideráveis são... Pontos positivos: Tamanho compacto. Teclado iluminado.

Wow, so interesting!

Cool comparisson. Pl-660 is so good
One thing you know for sure, is you never know. I've seen similar results, but not all the time. Those who say the ground doesn't matter usually means it is a sample of one. Every QTH is different. Good vid. 👍
I will note that ground doesn't so anything for me on shortwave, only MW/LW. This video is for the Tecsun PL-990, but the Qodosen DX-286 REALLY jumps ahead with ground.
Assuming your antenna is just connected directly...no tuning coil or anything like that?
Correct.

In another 660/880 comparison, the reviewer has the silver 660, and it looks cheap. To my eyes the black one looks much nicer. Both are good radios. Excellent video.
I tend to avoid silver radios for this reason.
Thanks Blog or Die the HRD -757 sounds the best, but I would put my money on the Tecsun Pl-330 because it’s the only one with SSB capabilities. 73! Have a great day!
The HRD-757 isn't very selective.
I have the Tecsun PL-880 and it's an AWESOME radio. A radio designed primarily for shortwave that has AMAZING AUDIO quality on FM is a treat. Tecsun make some good shit that rivals or even beats current Japanese radios. I know there's a lot of junk made in China, But if you know what you are looking for there is some good stuff made there.
@@kwdavids1 I am going to buy the HRD -757 as a radio to use at work for it's feature set, The main thing being that you can playback MP3s in "shuffle" (a feature lacking in most sets with MP3 playback). Otherwise I'll mainly be using it for local FM, That it also covers SW, VHF/UHF and had Bluetooth are fun "bonuses". My Tecsun PL-880 is my "daily driver for SW.

Blog or die your Tecsun shortwave portable receiver with ssb is awesome my friend
Blog or die you lisn to interesting things on shortwave my friend
Mine is pretty sensitive, too, but you seem to get a lot of signals where you live.
believe me folks, if you are interested in sw radio and dxing then get the Tecsun pL-660/680 the reason being that it's really great tuning around rather than having a scan up or down button. The Pl-660/680 also have external antenna input for proper SW antennas like the Bonito ma-305 FT whip, a truly amazing antenna. The PL-668/680 are pure analogue radios with SSB which means you can listen to radio hams and air traffic stations and above all ssb can be used on sw stations to pull in weak signals if a stronger station is interfering, this is called ECSS and it's also very effective against fading signals. the DSP radios on SSB are junk. The raddy is an interesting radio though, can the sensitivity of the scan be adjusted like on the Tecsun PL-330/310 et ?
There's nothing in the manual suggesting that the scan sensitivity can be adjusted. I wasn't aware that the PL-330 had such a feature either. The only radio I know with an adjustable ATS scan threshold is the Qodosen DX-286/SR-286. The PL-660 is a great radio, but it's ATS threshold is far too low, storing lots of just plain noise until the memory fills up.
