In 2010, a colourful spectacle took place in the Rhine Valley: the Balloon Days in honour of 100 years of aviation in Switzerland. The 3rd International Balloon Days Alpen-Rhine Valley in Widnau (Switzerland) and Lustenau (Austria) attracted around 25,000 visitors from Switzerland and abroad from 19 to 22 August 2010. The many colourful balloons took off in the floodplains of the Rhine and flew over Switzerland, Austria and also over the Lake Constance to land in Germany. With beautiful views, you could also see the Seebühne in Bregenz where the musical Aida was performed.
On Saturday morning there was a fox hunt. The 'Smiley' balloon was the only balloon that was close to the fox balloon and had also given it an 'air kiss'. A beautiful nightglow made the adventure complete.
