1973 Honda CB750 - Delkevic Exhaust Sound
Переглядів 1,7 тис.7 місяців тому
Enjoy the sound onboard a 1973 CB750 with the Full 4-into-1 Classic Straight Delkevic exhaust (not the megaphone one). Recorded in Aug 2023 GPS in first clips were to verify the speedo is indeed a bit lazy and often reads slow
First days on 2000 Honda ST1100 Pan European

Filmed August 2023, from the first couple of days riding it. By far the biggest and heaviest bike I've ridden, but very pleasant. Look forward to some longer ones this year.
1989 Yamaha XT225 - April ride on some of my favourite local roads

Recorded in 2022; Gairnshiel Bridge at 2:35 is now (I believe) inaccessible to motor vehicles. Route: A944 from Tor-na-Haish to Gairnshiel Lodge, B976 to Crathie, briefly A93 then onto the B976 alongside the River Dee. Nipped into Ballater, then out again back onto the B976. Cuts back later onto a backroad near Tarland.
Slightly longer drive in 1953 Ford Anglia
Переглядів 4 тис.8 місяців тому
First 10-15 mins of its maiden journey, after replacing the valves. Was noisy, but seemed happy enough (I have no experience driving anything like this, so its difficult to know what is normal and what is not). Steep hills proved troublesome, and something I'll try and avoid in future. Phone on dash showing speed in mph via GPS, as the car's speedo is quite sticky. Throughout the rest of the tr...
1953 Ford Anglia after valve job - very short clip, camera died
Переглядів 6828 місяців тому
Camera died almost immediately, so this short clip is all I got from the drive home. I have some longer clips from when I set off, will upload those soon. Since last time I replaced all the valves (one exhaust valve was burnt), and also replaced the old cracked exhaust manifold. Completed almost 30 miles, struggles on steep hills, but otherwise fine. Hot compression test was good. Engine is a b...
1953 Ford Anglia first proper start in ~25 years

I meant to add some text explaining things, but forgot camera is pointing a bit high, I'll direct it downwards a bit next time short backstory - I had this very very briefly running about 2 years ago, just for a handful of seconds, before the starter motor packed in (wouldn't disengage, was stuck on the flywheel), but didn't know it at the time. I put it aside for a while and only came back to ...

Took part in the 40th anniversary cavalcade. Lots of interesting vehicles - I include the ride back to the parking spot to show some of the cars on display.
Knockhill Trackday - 10/04/23
Переглядів 88Рік тому
Late upload - second trackday, first with wet tyres to play with. They were amazing fun, very confidence inspiring. Had a blast in the wet conditions, though the day cleared up nicely after a few hours. Had a problem with the gearbox at the end - I hit a false neutral going from 3rd to 2nd, meaning I didn't have the engine braking I was expecting and I went straight into the gravel. My fault fo...
1973 CB750 testing

dry clips - 130 main jet wet clips - 110 main jet Running strong at lower rpm, but not happy yet at higher loads/rpm. Hopefully I get to the bottom of it -edit- It was spark plugs and plug caps with incorrect resistance, fitting correct ones greatly improved performance in the end.

Highlights/Mistakes - GSXR 600 at Knockhill - First ever trackday
Переглядів 4992 роки тому
Some clips from throughout the day of my first trackday. Sadly I forgot to record my first two sessions, which were fully wet (like in the thumbnail), where i had some pretty lairy moments under braking. Also I apologise for the lack of audio at the end, I'm not sure why the camera didn't capture that properly, and also I ran out of battery before the end - something else to be on top of next t...
Single Lap - GSXR 600 at Knockhill - First ever trackday
Переглядів 1962 роки тому
A very slow and steady lap around Knockhill on my 2002 GSXR 600. Had no idea what to expect, but everyone at the track were super friendly and helpful, and respectful on track too. Can't wait to go back and keep improving, I have a long way to go! Will hopefully upload a longer video highlighting some of the mistakes and fun parts, as well as the poorer weather at the start of the day

Yamaha XT225, enjoying some local backroads
They ride a lot better with a new rear shock! Best upgrade on mine so far. Plus new fork oil up front. Completely different dynamics.
Great video.
Btw I'm getting mine on friday 😃 Can't wait.
Enjoy! Had mine a year now, and still totally love it. Only downside is the weight when pushing it around my lumpy garage. But once I get smooth concrete it'll be perfect
Awesome vid mate. I see you switch gears whitout clutch. Is that particular ok on these bikes or can one do that with any bike if practiced?
Can do it on any bike, though this is the only one I bother with, as the clutch lever is a little heavier and further reach than my other bikes. This fatigues my hand on long rides. If i can reduce the amount of clutch squeezes, my hand will thank me later!
@@bike_runshi, if you're finding the clutch to be particularly heavy it might be worth giving the slave cylinder a rebuild (piston and seals, quite cheap) and make sure the handlebar lever pivot is clean and well greased. I've done this with mine and the clutch is surprisingly quite light for such a big bike. The lever pivot needs cleaning and greasing quite regularly to keep it nice.
You can on any bike. Give it throttle to down shift, and get off the throttle to go up in gears. Ideally you press the pedal the moment your hand is in the farthest position it will go ( meaning fully on or off the clutch depending of the shifting type). On my cbf125 I only use the clutch on first and neutral gear to pull over or get going again.
@@pedroclaro7822 good luck changing down in the lower gears without a clutch on an 1100cc shaft drive.
I have a similar exhaust on my Suzuki Gsx750 and it sounds identical, love your bike
Hi Gary. That CB350 is in very nice condition. How is the vibration on it at speed? I had a 1972 CB350 that would shake my feet off the foot pegs at highway speed. It was otherwise a good reliable machine. Regards Bob in Ottawa Canada
Hi Bob - I think the vibrations are normal for these, definitely the strongest vibes of all the bikes I've ridden
👍🏻
Rode the CB450 back in 1979. could hardly hold it up 45yrs later twice the size now riding a V2K. Times change.
Amazing content 😍😍also check the latest CB 350 Rs‼️🌟‼️🌟
Speedo NFG. I had the 1969 K1, which was the most beautiful and bulletproof version, back in 1969 when I was 23. Best bike I ever owned. Sold it after 1 year to buy a car. Still regret that I had to do that.
I love this bike but I can n buy it
It still runs like new, in India Honda sells the new CB350 Highness its a single cylinder with 20 HP, and it doesn't look half as good as this one, I think they released it just to compete against Royal Enfield 350.
Those are fun little bikes! Mine has 3mm oversized pistons, electronic ignition, bigger cam, upgraded charging system and VM32 slide carbs. You gotta hang on tight for the first few shifts!
I had a CL 450

my first car 1950 Anglia, loved it, paid £10 for it in 1965
Great to see this - my first car was a 1953 Anglia in which I passed my test. My dad and I bought it on hire purchase for around £350 in May 1961. I part exchanged it for a 1956 MKII Zephyr convertible in December 1962. During the short time that I had the Anglia I had the big ends re-metalled (no shells) and renewed the piston rings. I also had to replace the clutch plate. We did some long trips in it, and since it was my first car I was thrilled to bits with it but the Zephyr was much more to my liking - hydraulic operated clutch and brakes, a heater and blinkers instead to semaphore signals - luxury!
Gary, Looks like you have a very good example of the Pan-European. You have found some roads that really suit the bike and it seems to run well. I noticed the temp didn't move far on the gauge, mine did this until I was recommended to change the thermostat. Now it reads halfway and the bike runs smother with more mpg.
Its well known these run cool, if the cooling system is working properly. I too was a little concerned when I first got it, but I did research and found it was normal for it to run cool when in motion, it only rises up to halfway when very slow/stopped or if the ambient temps are very hot (which they are never here). I did however go through the cooling system to be sure, being a used bike its good practice. I replaced a bunch of hoses, tested the thermostat (works fine, it opened at the indicated temp), flushed and replaced with new coolant. You could probably get it to run hotter by choosing a higher temp thermostat, but I'm happy having it work as designed, even if it is cooler than other bikes.
@@bike_runs Gary, Great response, my bike ran cool this for about the first 18 years until after a club ride and before putting it away it spat coolant out of the overflow/header tank. I checked the thermostat and it seemed to be very slow to operate so I spoke to David Silver who recommended swapping it out. The overflow pipe at the radiator end had also begun to split when I inspected the system. New coolant, hose, thermostat and radiator cap completed the parts and afternoon fitting them. The engine now warms up much faster and holds the temperature gauge constantly just below halfway for the last 5 years. This is something which may happen to your bike as they are around the same age and if it does you have some information. I have had mine from new in 2002 and apart from a sticking rear brake caliper, it has been fluid changes with general servicing that I do myself. Every time I look to change it for something new I can find anything more comfortable so I will just keep riding this one. I am sure you will get the most out of your bike and if looked after will see thousands of great roads to ride. Best Regards, Tony.
very nosy is gear!!
Nice roads but you are trying to ride the Pan like your other bikes ..... 😉 if you keep it long enough you will know what I mean
damnnn 😁 nice anglia53
Sound is not nice
It's a classic Pan V4 sound.
Drive it like you stole it even on 3 cylinders. 😉
Nice ✌🏻
Cool footage and great sound too, when that bike came out at 13.5 in the quarter it could beat any muscle car v8 at the time.
Sweet
That certainly drives better than my one
Beautiful road! I have a mint '99 st in my stable. Shifts smoother than my 2020 Goldwing tour.
My first car in black. The Anglia was the detuned version of the Popular - Pop 1172cc , Anglia 998 cc, both sidevalves. Got 62 1/2 out of mine downhill and 59 on the flat - hair raising!
Thank you for this video, it’s very nice. I just bought a near identical ST1100, the ride home was a bit scary as the seat had been raised, but now that I have the seat lowered it feels a lot better. I’m loving the ST1100, and I’m even growing to love its distinctive whirring noise. I did raise the handlebars by an inch which for me makes a significant difference.
Yeah its definitely on the intimidating side for me, always conscious of the weight when stopping/starting. Those first few miles on the ride home from where I bought it were daunting, but once on the open road it was easy to relax! Fitting an adjustable clutch lever from a VFR800 helped me a lot, the standard one was just too far away for my smaller hands. With the lever much closer, feathering the clutch became much easier, and reduced hand strain on longer rides.
@@bike_runs wow thanks for that tip, feathering the clutch is essential for low speed control on a heavy bike like this. I’m getting more used to it, learning not to use the front brake during slow speed maneuvers was a big one for me when the handlebars are not perfectly straight
Those views are simply breathtaking
You could give her a chance and rev it a bit more
Ah! That takes me back. Had a couple of these back in the seventies. Both black the green was a rare beast. By the look of it you have a very good one especially starting. They were a nightmare at times. As for the speed they were never that fast, but yours rides and runs well even the steering looks tight. Just keep checking the oil level, they all burn oil even with a recon engine. Listening to first gear.. they all did that. Enjoy.😀
Lovely car!
Bakelite dash! The height of luxury in a rapidly changing world. My first car was a 1953 Popular. Wooden floors, kingpins, cable brakes and transverse suspension. I don't recall mine going as fast as yours!😊
This one has the larger Prefect motor, though still uses the carb and inlet manifold of the smaller one. So perhaps a little more oomph yet to come if I can source parts!
@@bike_runs 1172? rather than the 933, the later 1172cc engine (100E) had a water pump rather than thermo siphon, yours being a 1953 it must be one of the last before the 'New' 100E Anglia was launched
@@nickb5391Yep, its a 1172cc engine from a prefect I expect. Not the later 100E one
Cool❤
Nice, and the road is , where abouts is that
Suie Hill, Aberdeenshire. It is nice, but a bit too steep for this thing!
Turn the tick over up bit...
my first car, mine was a 1950 model, a black one, loved it
They were shockingly bad cars.
No, they were good cars when new in their day, and very cheap.
@stone_me6849 Cheap and rubbish. Complacent pre war design and primative.
Just found your channel and Subscribed. Very nice car
Would have been nice to see what the car actually looks like 😢
Here is a pic. i.imgur.com/um9TISC.png Paint is quite poor, cracking and peeling, especially at the back. But thankfully its very solid, no rot
@@bike_runs I believe the paint is Channel Green, my dad had a 48 Prefect the same colour.
My Grandfather had one of these contraptions and managed to crash the thing. When he got it back after its rebuild, it had been fitted with the later plain tin dashboard, and the 10hp-type steering wheel. Its character was lost!
You must be able to smell the exhaust fumes with the noise it makes. Bit too fast for one of those. Good nostalgia though.
Hopefully it'll quiet down a bit once i replace the burnt exhaust valve
Missing a cylinder and synchromesh
Yeah, my ear isn't very good at detecting these things. but I did a compression test straight after this run and found cylinder 3 down. Burnt exhaust valve, hopefully I'll get it replaced and running a bit better soon
What a bloody aweful car.
Better than the shit today car's of today are total crap.
It's 70 years old, hasn't had the best of care in it's life and it's still on the road. I guarantee whatever it is you are driving will not be on the road in 70 years... in fact it won't even make half that.
My first car.
Oh good grief, I remember those ! about fifteen years after that was registered, those were everybody’s first motor. The first one we had, we had to to replace the wooden floorboards, we did that with real second hand floorboards and loads of Synthaprufe , (black jack made by the Coal board).
Needs a turbo or a K20 engine swap
+1 for the K20
It lives!
I reckon you could have taken him on the inside there
