What is a tier list? A miserable little pile of subjective opinions… but enough talk, have at you!
Gabriel Belmont, because he was actually dracula and killed Satan himself. (I know it's a separate storyline, but still, if he counted, he would be the best)
Ritchter
Trevor 😅
Julius still holding back being kinda OLD still makes fight and vanquished dracula so hard he reincarnated into a twink Still in the bad ending Julius beats his ass for the third time
Strongest one is Richter for the only Reason of what Alucard said to Shaft in SotN. not sure what the line was but something about "non could succeed" or something like that cuz Richter was the strongest of them. Julius sure he did beat Dracula at his Peak Power but also like Trevor he wasn't alone stated somewhere in Aria of Sorrow and well they cut of Dracula from is Castle what would seal of his magic.
Simon Beat Dracula twice not to mention while his body was cursed
I do plan to make a video regarding this matter, however the TLDR for that is that I plan to make an argument for why Leon and Juste are the most powerful Belmonts. Objectively, I can agree that Julius is the strongest, as he does have weight backing him up. However, we tend to forget how powerful the opponents Leon's tended to be. Especially Walter, who although sounds weaker than Dracula, keep in mind the only thing separating Dracula and Walter is the fact that Walter can keep himself in a state of heightened power due to the Ebony Stone's ability to maintain eternal night. Additionally, it is said that who ever wielded the Crimson Stone had control over Death, which Walter before even without it had Death under his employ, at least that was what was implied during the end of the game. We also dont really get a basis to how much Walter's soul amplified Mathias' vampiric power, we also never hear or see the power of eternal night from the Ebony stone be used again, either because it was destroyed, never found a use, or was merged with some other Dracula ability. The only Belmonts in memory that have fought Dracula at true power were the only ones that didn't fight him alone, which conviently were Trevor and Julius. Also, say what we will about Leon, but fighting an Eldritch Horror in someone's basement has got to at least give him some credit. Lol. Anyway, nice short video, it was very thought-provoking.
Looking forward to it! I’ll be making a long form follow up to this Short too with some of the input from you guys & with a twist 😈 And yeah, Leon and Juste are no slouch’s! I wanted to point out how Trevor and Julius were the only ones who fought him at full power, Julius more so because of the prophecy but had to cut it to fit into 60 seconds LOL. You’re right, too. It’s easy to overlook characters like Walter & even Joachim that Leon defeated considering the whip of alchemy’s power and how much Leon has in versatility there can definitely be a case made for him. Juste too of course, every Belmont has an argument. Except Desmond. Nobody likes Desmond… I also have seen some of your stuff before so I’m happy to see you here! Feel free to reach out if you ever want to collaborate or chat 😎
It’s Richter. Julius couldn’t even beat Soma.
Julius was holding back when they fought in Aria 👀 Plus, Julius defeated Dark Lord Soma with Yoko & Alucard in Dawn of Sorrows Julius Mode. Maybe the bad ending of Aria of Sorrow too although we never see the result of that outcome 🤔
I always figured Hammer was a descendant of the danasty clan since it only seemed fitting.
That was the original intention! In Dawn of Sorrow, it’s been confirmed he was cut from Julius Mode with a playstyle that would’ve been similar to Grants. But since he was cut from that mode, that connection was never made canonically. So Michelle in Ricordanza of the Gods Abyss established that connection instead. A little unfortunate, as I like the idea of them both being his descendants.
Technically Gabriel Belmont is the strongest. He defeated some “alpha” creatures, the kings of their species, Death himself being one of them. He also defeated an ancient Demon, who was a threat to both the order of light and the lords of shadow. He went on to become Dracula, the prince of darkness, and humiliated Satan TWICE, the second time while he was possessing Gabriel’s son.
Well konami is running out of games to port and even made a new castlevania game (complete reimagining of haunted castle). So heres hoping we get actual new games soon.
I wouldn’t call Haunted Castle Revisited a new mainline entry but, it was certainly an excellent time 😌
Didn't Richter got maria help? In game she only helps if you "lose", but what the lore say?
Yup! He canonically fought alongside her. That’s why the first boss in Symphony of the Night has that reference if your health reaches zero
Nah it's Ritcher. Ritcher has the whip and magic and he solo Dracula. It's not even hard to say it. Ritcher is and always was the most powerful Belmont by far. If Sophia Belmont could join in that would be but Iga literally slap the no woman is Belmont rule. Still the fastest character in Castlevania series is Maria(adult).
I’d argue the fastest characters in Castlevania are either Maxim from Harmony of Despair, or Soma with the Black Panther soul during the Sorrow titles 👀
Have you ever thought about talking about unofficial games like Simon's Destiny, a Doom Mod with a Castlevania theme?
Maybe one day! I’d like to do a whole video on fan games eventually. After the big video I’m working on FINALLY releases, I’m open to ideas from the community
Correction: Trevor is Simon's ANCESTOR, not his descendant. He's Simon's great grandfather, in fact.
Oh yes I’m well aware lol, but I see how mentioning Draculas Curse when I did might’ve been a bit confusing 😂 Sorry if that came off misleading!
As much as Simon and Trevor raised me in gaming almost 5 fucking decades on Earth, Gabriel was my ultimate Belmont.
I beat Simon’s Quest without a guide in 1989 when I was 13. I still love this game and controversially appreciate the importance this game had in the evolution of the metroidvania genre.
That’s amazing! Out of curiosity, did you have any hints? Playing it back when would’ve been a whole different experience… those memories must be special
Christopher Belmont giving Drac PTSD of him is still amazing
I vote for Jonathan Joestar
Simon in my opinion,he more flexible with his fight style.More forward thinking,& he's a monster in unarmed combat.🥇Simon Belmont 🥇
His Smash Bros moveset alone makes me believe his hand to hand combat might be stronger than we think, like with his grabs & shared moves with Richter from Rondo/SotN
Nah actually richter is the most powerful he can use primordial energy of the belmonts clan and blue flames
I would say Juste because he's so OP in his game. Like I can't think of another game where the protagonist feels like such a wrecking ball
If we factor gameplay in with the lore, certain characters would be drastically stronger and weaker. Like Christopher has nothing on Richter seeing both of their movement speeds 😂
It's Julius. He can beat monsters before their Regeneration activates, something Soma said should be impossible. He dragged Dracula outside of his castle so his death would be permanent, and with help sealed away the castle. Literally made a career out of doing the impossible.
Julius deserves his own game.
You realize in the first Castlevania Simon Belmont fought Dracula at full power and is the only Belmont canonically to not have any magic powers dude is just a fucking unit
about the whip getting used by Morris clan IIRC when Richter was mind controlled in SOTN it made the Belmont clan tainted, i suppose cleaning the tainted bloodline took a long-ass time which explains other people like Shanoa took up the mantle at one time
That would certainly be interesting 🤔 Others getting to use the whip I mean. I remember in the Dawn of Sorrow light novel that I also did a video about, Deaths hand burns when trying to wield a holy item like a blessed whip. So it think it would definitely depend on the character. We never did find out why the Belmonts relinquished the Vampire Killer after all. Although there’s some evidence I’ll go over in my next video about why they might’ve.
Alucard made it known that Richter is the strongest Belmont but Julius was the one that was wise enough to defeat Dracula.
He calls both of them the strongest, as confusing as that might be 😂
@@StockeTepes Julius and Richter are tied in his tier list I guess lol.
9:08 isn't that just Curse of Darkness on PS2? Transylvania's afflicted with a curse A young man (Hector) rose up to thwart it Simon was in the game It's moreorless a direct sequel to the 2nd game ...wait. unless that was Trevor Belmont... ..
Curse of Darkness takes place before all of Simons game, being a sequel to Castlevania 3: Draculas Curse! The similarities are definitely intentional for Curse of Darkness’s story for sure tho
Well, defeating Drácula at it's prime is impressive. But Gabriel defeated the "King of Angels", Satan himself, when Gabriel was still just a human. The guy was an absolute one-man army.
11:10 What game is this from? Looks interesting
The fan game being developed about the event, Seal of the Eclipse! I also made sure to shout it out at the end of this video since I used some B roll for it. It looks good, even though it’s a fan fiction I hope it’s a fun time!
Julius, Trevor and Richter tbh
Julius probably. Fucking nutty guy
The power of plot armor
Simon wins, every time.
Have some respect for Jonathan. The Joestar bloodline shouldn't be lump in with the Belmonts because his is a tier of its own.
Julius S tier but Jonathan Joestar is clearly SSS 😎😭
Julius hands down is the most powerful. During his fight with Soma, he used Grand Cross, and during the attack you can see parts of castlevania in the background falling apart. And the part affected seems to be some distance away (likely part of the entrance area). Keep on mind the sheer size of the castle and the fact that Julius was 55 and holding back.
That’s right. It’s such a seamless transition in his boss fight, too. One of the best in the series imo
Lecarde is E Drac El “He is The Devil” (Romanian) in reverse. Just a fun fact
Oh wow, I had no idea! If anything, that’s another similarity and tie between Alucard and the Lecarde Clan…
@ I wondered why I didn’t think of that! Then I realized the older writers probably would have looked that up
I find it interesting that the narrator thinks Simon Belmont having a child is a stretch. He's a national hero who killed Dracula so hard that his body was split in 5 parts. He comes from a long line of these heroes, and he's the strongest one yet. 💪 I highly doubt he could not find plenty of women to bear children with him. Especially in the one town where most of the women flirt with him.
Oh, Simon Belmont did have a child eventually! The question I meant to prepose was what time period it exactly could’ve happened in. After Castlevania 1, Simons Quest, or the time period after both. Sorry if I worded that strangely. And yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if he settled down in Wygol Village 😂 That would certainly make sense with Order of Ecclesia
I'd reckon Gabriel Belmont because he defeated a bunch of these guys if you think about it.
Trevor Belmont!
Going outside lore and applying game mechanics Nathan Graves (not a Belmont). Can go nuclear.
That’s right, that glitch is insane 😂
Julius beat Dracula's ass so hard he had to go into witness protection as a japanese boy. Then to top it off they became bros, Julius takes it.
whip
Julius beat Dracula so hard he had to REINCARNATE. Not resurrect, REINCARNATE. I don't think anything can beat that, Richter being the first "full-power" Belmont to use the whip 100% and just kick ass is great and all, but imo he's #2, and I'm a HUGE Richter fan, have not even played Julius' game but respect the lore
12:25 I'm gonna guess she isn't in vampire survivors...
I’ll stream it in a few days so I’m not sure 100% but, I doubt it 😂 That would be funny wouldn’t it 😅
Isn't that actual dracula on the last image (top right). well, not yet at least
He’s from a separate continuity, but technically yes! I could only speak about the mainline Belmonts for this YT Short but I knew people would want to see some Gabriel acknowledgment lol
I see we have a Joestar among the Belmonts at the end of this video🤣
Simon. I am just old school like that.
Julius, but if you include Lords of Shadow then the answer is clearly Gabriel
