MORE VIDS IF POSS, PLEASE,
@@gallopingg1 there will be plenty more mate thanks, I just have a child and a puppy so things are mad at home
GREAT VID, LOVE THE CATCH AND COOK.
Thanks bud, glad you enjoyed.
Spot on man. What’s the camo jacket you wear? Cheers
Ridgeline monsoon smock mate 👍
@ thanks for replying man. Can recommend an air rifle shop please? I haven’t owned a gun for years.Thinking of getting one again for me and my boy to use in our local foods. We’re in Abergavenny. Cheers
@@ploppershipo CS sports in Cwmbran is the closest I think. They have a good selection of used air rifles there. Check their website out.
I've always shot legal limit air rifles. Ive tried .177 .20 .22 & I took more game with a .22 Theoben Fenman than any other calibre. Always clean kills. The only reason I got rid of the gun was that it absolutely wrecked scopes even with Theobens anti shock mounts. But it's one of a handful of guns that I owned over the last 40 years that I wished I kept. Nice vid gents ,keep it up.
Thanks for the comment mate, never shot a fenman but had a theoben rapid 7 which was one of the best guns I have ever shot even now. Absolute tack driver
First watch subbed i love catch and cook admire your foraging knowledge. Well done Max.
Thanks for the sub! Appreciate it!
Gents, if I heard correctly then the .22 slug lost the least energy closely followed by the .177 slug, with the .25 losing the most energy by quite a margin, although this was a pellet. The energy retained cannot be obtained by purely comparing just the FPS drop.
I will have to re look at the charts you have just blew my mind. Cheers for commenting, hope you enjoyed.
I just did a calculation based on the chronograph results, most lbs lost over 30yards first 177 pellet 5.85 lbs 177 slug 4.51lbs 22 pellets 2.81lbs .25 pellets 2.67lbs .22 slug for the win at only 0.89 lbs Hope that helps, just fried my brain.
Thank you for the response, and yes I did enjoy the content. I may have misheard, but I calculated the .22 slug at 0.89 ftlbs loss and the .177 slug at 1.24 ftlbs based on the FPS quoted or what I may have misheard 😜
@paulthomas5219 you weren't far off mate 👍
Over the years I've had a lot of air rifles in the normal calibers but then I got hold of a converted Titan Mohawk in .20 it was absolutely Awesome best rifle I ever owned it was spot on very consistent 11.5ftlb wish I still had it
Thanks a lot mate. I wish I had one to. My mate has a titan PCP from years ago, single shot 177. I've never shot one however
Can you chaps do some pellet test in windy conditions never seen any one do it IE different weight 177 and 22 dus wind move more at different weight in pellet sizes du to speed and weight and size ,
Great idea mate, thanks for the suggestion. Might be tough one but I'm sure we can try it out 👍 thanks
I've not seen sub12 .25 tested anywhere. That extra energy would be a big benefit and now with the more affordable LRF / BC scopes about, for those (like me) who struggle with calcutating bullet drop and compensation the .25 with ammo your paticular gun likes would make sense. I use a Sytong night vision LRF (Around £500) or there's the Hik Micro range.
.22 is always the best , i hate .177 by the way
I do prefer my .22 but that .25 up close is insane
Here in India we are allowed 20 Joules in .177. Most of our guns are capable of 800FPS with 12 grs pellets in springers and Gas rammers. Our modified PCP's can generate a whopping 39 FPE. .22 in air rifles have, in the very recent past been banned unless one gets a firearms licence.
@@707Gaming-m5z the u.k air rifle laws are very tight 😞
Absolutely spot on! .20 is the best. Particularly in lower and medium power ranges. The BC of .20 in 15.89 grain is 0.047...I rest my case.
@@mariocesare7669 thanks for watching and leaving a comment mate.
Loved my stealth 25 with 22in barrel.. deadly.
Is the barrel 22inch standard or ? I have no idea, no really thought about modifications at all. It very very accurate and such a simple design, the gun and scope cost me £90 so laughing really

80ft lbs. Mannnnn I wanna go of that!!
@@MAXIMOUTDOORS yeah it's good fun haven't been out hunting with it yet just to the range to set it up, hopefully once I get a bit of free time off work ill be able to get out with it on some rabbits
Amazed you left out the .20
Just haven't got one. Nor a spare £500 😂
Great video fellas, I have the hw100 kt in 177 and tend to always use Hades or Rws super H points when out on the rats. I have the cousin to the kral, I have the Reximex Myth in 22 and again use super H points on the rats as I find they have more stopping power. The myth for the money I think is a hell of a rifle but needs a silencer as it has one hell of a bark without.
I had a look at one the other day, cracking piece of kit for the price of a new decent springer 👌
Airgun gear fella did a similar thing yrs ago and foud the same sort of thing the heavier the pellet the more energy they maintained over distance..great stuff 👍👍
Sweet, good to see the results. That .25 at 30 yards is rediculous 👌 the super h point .22 hollow point was the most surprising for me, it really did do it's job.
@MAXIMOUTDOORS yeah they hit hard ..it's. 22 for me all the way you get the balance of accuracy + stopping power perfect for sub 12 👍
The answer is .20
The trajectory would definitely be the winner but for -45 yard pest control, the hw100 shooting a hollow point was unbeatable I think. It really did do its job. Thanks for watching
Rare caliber as I own a Beeman R-10 .20🇺🇸
Just after a bit of advice. I've been looking at the EK Archery Cobra and the Archery Jaguar crossbows. Which do you think, in your opinion, would be better for wildlife hunting. The first one doesn't have a scope, but there is a massive tradeoff with weight. I'm looking in the preppershop. If you have friends who are interested in this area or or have advice, I'd appreciate it. I'm not in a rush but want to be a bit more self-sufficient. Just in case. I want value for money. First is much cheaper but is cheaper better? Or if you have any advice if you know of a better one then I'd be interested. Really interested in your input. Thanks, Chris.
Didn't I reply to this already?
@MAXIMOUTDOORS I'm sure you did

Do you use the pelts for anything? Do you use the bones for a stock or isn't it worth it.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling I think that would be brilliant and I haven't tried it with squirrel but maybe something for a future video. Thanks
@MAXIMOUTDOORS The pelts and tails are good for fly tying. The pelts would make a good Hare's Ear type nymph. The Squirrel tails would make a good Muddler Minnow type fly.
@ianwoods1384 cheers for watching, I had thought about keeping some back for my mate to tie some flies. I'm not that big into fluffy chucking myself
One thing I'd be interested in is how you set up and zero your rifle. Not being an expert at all that would interest me. Plus, the skinning and gutting of the game if UA-cam permit it.
@@chrisbentleywalkingandrambling the zero rifle video I can do. The gutting and skinning might get me banned 😂😂

Just with regards to your down jacket. I'd go wool. As when down gets wet it looses its thermal retention, yet wool keeps 80 percent. Hypothermia is a risk.
@@rossdiggle I agree wool would be a better choice in that situation. Also wool is a lot more rugged
