Aerona C-3 Restoration. June 8, 2024 Engine Testing and First Taxi Test. Video of the running by Hoodoo Texas, video of the Taxi by Roger Haney. Breaking in the Merkel Old Kingsbury Aerodrome

After some trials and tribulations, finally finished the tribute 1914ish Merkel Motorized Bike. Right now using 16/1 fuel ratio to break it in but will eventually use a 32/1 ratio that will give it more pep. It is running great and is easy to pedal and start. Using a 50 plus tooth rear sprocket which contributes to higher torque at slower speeds. It's built for demonstration not actual racing. ...

Although our tribute Merkel debuted as a display piece at our Air and Vehicle Fair on May 6 2023, we did not get to test it until July 9. No, the pitot tube was not blocked, so safety Karens, calm down.
From the video it looked like you came up to the stop sign pretty quick at 3:29 (not judging). You must have Rocky Mountain Brakes or something else? I know I wouldn't do that in my '26 Roadster!
I wasn't driving but this T is in immaculate condition and Kurt is a very experienced driver with this vehicle so I assume he knows what he is doing and the condition of his car. I personally will not take T's out on the road, I only drive them. on the rural museum site. My first rule for folks just learning to drive the T is not to point at anything you don't want to run over. I give basic onsite driving lessons only.
What wings are those on the L-3? Never seen one with squared tips.
No clue. I don't know much about L Birds.

That's a good-looking collection of Model T's (and I think I spotted some A's further down). Do they all run as well as that little Runabout?
No. The Runabout and four or five are excellent runners, five or six are just for running on the museum grounds for short durations The Museum is built on a 100 acre rural site, and a few are awaiting restoration to running condition. In essence an active garage.
Not to be pedantic, but that's a 30x3 1/2 clincher tire, tube, and flap going on a 'de-mountable' rim for a 1923 Runabout. A 1926 T would likely have balloon tires. Nice video, that was more fun than a bucket of tadpoles.

The day started horribly with drizzle and darkness and overall wet but suddenly the sky opened and by 11 it was one of the most beautiful days I have ever experienced. A real Goldilocks weather day. Of course, this was taken at the end of the day when the clouds were returning.

@@matthewmahalic3562 When I was a kid in Pa, we had snow...I loved snow...but as an adult I don't think I would like it much. Here in most parts of Texas when it gets down to freezing we freak out.

It was a great day for an Easter Sunday drive, we went about 25 miles on that drive, later that afternoon we drove another 30 or so. We are getting the "T"s ready for the "Texas T Party" in Rockport October 17 - 21.

This truck (Ford Model TT) is a true piece of San Antonio history. It delivered tombstones for a Monument company in San Antonio Texas until it became too slow to keep up with business and was parked in a warehouse. (late 20's or early 30's) It was replaced by a Ford Model AA. It's current owner rescued it about ten years ago. It is still pretty much as he found it. Come see it at the Pioneer Flight Museum.
No Careys were harmed in the making if this film.

Want to build a true racer soon. I am not getting any younger and need to get with it. Have to find another rolling Model T chassis (my friend Karl bought this rolling chassis). I am just a non-mechanical volunteer at Kingsbury so I can't build one from the ground up.
Don't have parts for a "Doodlebug" but the Museum at Kingsbury (Pioneer Flight Museum) is working on a 1918 Fordson Tractor that we hope to get running.
