2024 Fall Colors Flight
Переглядів 97Місяць тому
As we headed into fall this year, it looked as if the weather conditions from the summer were going to prevent a very colorful fall in southeastern Ohio. We felt that we would probably see trees turn brown and drop their leaves. But it seemed like overnight conditions changed and the color across the hills of southeastern Ohio exploded into one of the best color displays that we have seen for s...

A very touching and humbling story.
Lots of great floats. Love the Christmas Story best. Happy Holidays.
Thank you!
I live in Union Furnace, My family has lived here for over 100 years.
I was the engineer on the lead unit heading west. I'll be engineer again Saturday December 7.
Very cool! I had the chance to ride that engine several years ago, also the steam engine one evening. Both of those videos are here on our UA-cam channel.
@talesofsoutheasternohio6207 I was on steam crew Sunday November 3, 2024. Looking forward to helping out many more trains into the coming year.
What a blessing to have Mr.Dan share this with us thank you very much Mr.E
My dad Robert D Barto just passed away oct 31, He retired from local 18. My mom gave me his 30 year pin, union card and medal. He always told me I should join local 18. I'm seriously considering it now. Been a welder for roughly 10 years and for the past 6 years I've been a union boilermaker building nuclear reactors for submarines and aircraft carriers. But now, I think I may make a change. This all certainly looks like a trade I would enjoy way more!
Thank you....
7:30 I grew up in Bern Switzerland and I remember that the toilets in the SBB (Schweizerische Bundes Bahn) were still flushing directly on the track until the late 1980's It was very loud using and flushing it at full speed on the train from Bern to Zurich and you could see the train tracks flying by trough the toilet. ;-)
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Congratulations on your efforts and results. Thank you for the results and more.
Thank you for watching!!

Again thank you…
Your welcome! I don't think that we really appreciate the beautiful area that we live in. Thanks for watching!
Thank You
GREAT VIDEO! WELL MADE AND DUBBED. SUPER HISTORICAL RESEARCH AND ARCHIVED. I AM GONNA PURCHASE THE VIDEO.
Thanks for watching, we really appreciate your comments!
That’s good to see. I was raised. There in that town. Boy I would like to turn back time.
Is there an age cutoff for the apprenticeship? I'm almost 40, but have no prior experience with heavy machinery.
No
That’s good to see the village doing good and not ran in the ground. My Grandparents lived there and my Grate Grandparents lived there. Tracy.I always liked that little town when I was a kid. God Bless
Thanks for watching!
Awesome presentation! I am a Hoosier but love any canal history. Thanks for all the history!!
Thanks for watching!
You need good tires. Really good brakes and 4x4 to get to this tunnel and you cannot go fast getting to it. It's dangerous but when you leave it's fine but very dusty
And no service. So no cell phones will be used when you get there even before you get there. There is no service whatsoever
There's B&LE 643 getting restored and how about GTW 6325 and the other steam locomotives.
How does the earth take back all of that in 120 yrs or so
So many memories in new streitville...I am so glad I grew up in this beautiful town.
Thanks for watching!
Hey buddy we saw you right around the 6:30 mark on this video. Just pumped to see someone covering this event. Keep up the great work.
JESUS CHRIST IS COMING VERY VERY SOON !!! HE TOLD ME TO TELL THIS TO EVRYONE. HAVE A BLESSED DAY !
What day was Turtle man there! I missed him! I was there on Saturday.

0:39 "Steam engines had one fatal flaw." "It was the high pressures and temperatures that made them work." So, the physical nature of steam that facilitates mechanical work and runs the engines, is the flaw? Yet, we extol the very virtues of steam, the power of steam power and how it basically brought about the industrial revolution? Perhaps the fatal flaw(s) was the materials from which we have to make and contain steam. If we really boiled it down (pun taken), metallurgy and water are the flaws. If you know anything about boilers, you know that the steel in the boiler tubes in a boiler changes over time with constant thermal temperature swings. Steel's metallurgical properties change too, as it is exposed to water, which changes the properties of the steel. The water that is used in boilers also carries hardness minerals that, when the water boils off, leaves depositions on the tubes, thus changing the dynamics of the boiler. In essence, the tubes in a boiler change over time. They lose their original pressure ratings and become embrittled and weak. If a boiler is not regularly inspected and the tubes cleaned out, you get hot-spots that further compromise the boiler's metal thus leading up to disaster. Boiler makers and mechanical engineers have learned from these accidents to make boilers substantially safer. If there is an accident, there is usually something linked to the mechanical failure, such as any combination of the following: a poor or insufficient inspection program, improper boiler build materials(the steel tubes), poor design, running a boiler beyond its internal mechanical life, a failure to properly maintain the boiler and/or other human error that caused the boiler to fail.
I recently began reimagining what our roundhouse msy have looked like. Cannot find many pictures. My grandfather worked there after WW2, having come home from 8 years in the US Navy with whatever skills he acquired working on sumarine diesel motors. Here is a short animation I made of my efforts in a by now outdated Google Sketchup 8. ua-cam.com/video/HKlhxSCAP54/v-deo.htmlsi=X0Bfs3PE7GKIvib7
I went last month. Fabulous!!
Great man showed me how to box
He is a treasure!
Same construction crew the Incas used. Nice stone work Not much above the tunnel on this end,, seems like they would have just bulldozed road, and save a bundle of effort.
The tunnel appears to be in decent shape. It's amazing that it was still in operation in the 1970s. Thanks for the informative video. It's important not to forget the crucial role that the railroads played in settling and developing North America.
Thanks for watching!
How much blood you lose to the mosquitos?
Actually, we didn't notice any mosquitos while we were there.
They are me alive at Moonville about 2 weeks ago in broad daylight.
These videos are always great. Thanks for putting these up. Sharing little bits of history like this is awesome
Thanks for watching!
Been there and loved seeing history. An awesome area to explore
It really is. Even better now that the Moonville Rail Trail Association is taking care of it.
I wonder why there were 2 different types of construction between the two nearby tunnels?
We wonder about that as well. Probably different contractors. Thanks for watching!
@@talesofsoutheasternohio6207 I love watching your videos!
@@chuckg6039 Thanks so much!
Thank you for the facts, dates, and other important historical information. Very cool.
Thanks for watching!
The music sounds like Terry Effaw? (McGuffey Lane)
Actually it's another one of our friends Audie Wykle, who is also a master guitarist! Terry is also a great friend and is on several of our videos. Thanks for watching!
He gets around! He's also in charge of remodeling the old Chakers (? I should remember I ran Projectors there ) movie theater building in downtown Logan.
I ran Projectors there and the Drive-in during the early 80's. The projectors were heavy duty 1950's models and illuminated by carbon rods causing an electric arc to produce light.
I ran Projectors there and the Drive-In during 1982. I remember showing the movie "Poltergeist" one evening and a bad storm and lightning hit very close and the thunder scared out the Bats that lived behind the projection screen. I still remember the sight of the Bats flying around over the patrons heads, illuminated only by the projector light. I suspect the screams that were released at that time were probably heard as far away as the Ohio River. 🧛♀ Minimum Wage and all the Coca-Cola and Pop-Corn you could eat...
GREAT VID THAT IS HALLOWED GROUND SHAME ON OHIO NEEDS MORE THAN A BRONZE PLAQUE
great vid but kuddos to OHIO FOR LETTING HISTORIC THINGS DECAY TO TIME GOOD JOB
Such a beautiful part of the world! Both mine and my partner’s families were coal miners (from Wales), it’s such a hard job and so incredibly dangerous. It may have been extreme, to set the mine on fire, but when you drive people to desperation (especially when it’s simply to make a profit), these things can happen. It’s wonderful to see that the town still survives! The music in this video was fantastic too ❤
We appreciate the comments and thanks for watching!
We stopped in yesterday and had such a good time we stopped in again today! Beautiful work in that place and friendly people. Would highly recommend visiting them.
Very cool place, thanks for watching!
Nice !!!
way too much squeaky music
