From using the animation editor (and from what I understand), Cadavra isn’t two separate bosses, it’s one head that moves on its own until it wears one of the two bodies. You can see the animations for this in the editor. (If this information is wrong please let me know.)

If you kill him before he jumps in the hole then he drops all the items. So basically he tries to steal pickups
