Marlee Matlin signing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl 50 w/ Lady Gaga CC
Переглядів 20 тис.8 років тому
Hello, As many of you know and are very frustrated (I too) with CBS not showing Marlee for more than a few seconds at the Super Bowl. This was also simply a lack of accessibility to the deaf community. I did a lil scrambling on UA-cam and editing as well to try to showcase Marlee's entire performance. I apologize this is nowhere near perfect as I'd like it to be but some parts were zoomed in we...

Emmett can't claim Bay for too long because of what he did to her. He shouldn't be too jealous

I agree with Emmett. Can't my "brother" pick anyone other than my ex gf who I obviously still have feelings for? ANYONE? I realize it's a small world when you're in high school though.

I truly respect the set designers for this episode they clearly were educated and actually researched which is refreshing to see, the small things like the desk orientation for an open signing space and an actual light school bell, its even more refreshing to see Deaf talent on screen and openly discussing

I can understand where marlees character is coming from lost one eardrum to illness and was fully deaf after a tragic car accident as an adult now 15 years later I'm still trying to fit in I have aids but that is sometimes not enough

Yeah my ex cheated on me and then left to be with her. And some years later she said yeah the sex was good like with you and I it was the worst thing anybody had ever said to me I was so in love with her when we were together. Looking back now, sex was really all we had. We really weren’t even friends.

As a hearing person, I 100% agree with Melody. And it’s not just the deaf. People who are deaf, blind, autistic, adhd, gay, transgender, Down syndrome, really anyone that falls outside the scope of the average person, is at some point made to feel like a freak in society just for being who they are. But when you put a bunch of those kids in one place together, it becomes their space. The place they can speak and act freely. Where they can get actual resources and help for what they’re going through. A safe environment for a kid is so so vital. And if someone can’t see why that’s important, then trying to explain it to them is a lost cause.

You're kind of... missing the point. Gay people don't need a "gay school". They can integrate just fine in mainstream, i mean.. its nice to have lgbt club and safe spaces, but its not at all comparable to deaf vs hearing people. A gay or autistic person could feel like nobody understands them metaphorically, but a deaf person in a hearing asl-free environment literally cannot be understood. Its a language issue, not identity

I don't see how this will help the budget at all. They'll split them up between different schools and hire an interpreter for each student? Nope, doesn't make budgetary sense at all.

I truly believe the Immersion program at Carlton could have been great. The problem was that it was executed poorly. They sent students to a school to study and socialize in a language they didnt know. Teo couldn’t even ask where the front office was. And sure it draws a parallel to how deaf students are at hearing schools, but your telling me they didn’t bother to give the hearing students an ASL proficiency test to make sure they even somewhat understood the language?

so far melody gives john some space to heal things with travis . In what reality it makes me encourage to see things in mind but in this point it's cause john is very encouragement to see what's in the inside to feel up with melody and i can see that i know what's important all the people they always get their ability to show what's important and encourage to see things.

I always loved how Melody thought of Travis as her own, that she had two boys, even though Travis was a new addition relatively speaking.
