What a great scene between them! I can't believe he's the same guy who played adult Cole in "Mr. Holland's Opus." Great actor. Glad that he was one of the ASL consultants on the show.
Until this show I never understood much about the deaf/hard of hearing culture and how things are for them and I never understood how sign language can make up for emotions in people voices but watching this scene alone it's so much clearer. You can tell by the way they are holding themselves and moving their hands that they are clearly communicating their feeling into their signing and I'm very impressed.
I think a lot of people also forget the reasons why deaf people are more hesitant towards these kinds of things. I think more hearing parents should let their kids choose whether or not to get the cochlear implant and encourage their kids and spouses to all learn how to sign. When someones deaf its important to know they get to choose when it comes to something big like that and educate each other on deaf culture and take away the stigma.
I miss communicating by signing I haven't used American sign language since I left my school I feel like signing is more comfortable than it is to speak
I hate speaking I am a hearing person but I love ASL it’s way better than speaking every time I talk people are asking me to repeat and speak up. Hello my voice doesn’t go any higher I have had surgeries on my vocal chords and they still didn’t do very well. I’m not fluent in ASL, but I learning through watching music videos in Asl it’s better that way.
There was a deaf person up by us as a kid. Who was mercifully bullied kids shouting in his ear. And playing music right up by it. I hope they burn in hell
I hope you get to one day! I have met her and she's awesome! Amazing sense of humor and she's so nice and open with others. Even to people who have been rude to her for her being deaf, she's learned to find humor out of it. Look out for her speaking engagements! See if there's one near you :)
@@clairee4939 No, ”Switched at birth” didn’t voice these scenes for hearing people, they only use subtitles. We only hear voices if the actors themselves speak. For example, when Daphne signs to other deaf characters, she usually doesn’t use her voice, so subtitles are used on screen. When signing to hearing characters, she usually speaks at the same time, which is why subtitles are not used. (Of course I’m referring to the white subtitles shown on screen in this video; of course other subtitles transcribing the audio can be added later if the viewer wants them). While the deaf characters are signing without speaking, there is usually a type of soft, white noise in the background, kind of like the sound of waves in the ocean.

He's also super nice in person! I met him at a Sorenson VRS event where he works. His personality is so warm and friendly!
Really? That was him? I love that movie!
why are they both so attractive? So good-looking

Why did I turn up the volume on this?? Haha
Oh! Interesting because I’m deaf and always thought its voiced for hearing people. 🧐
