“Wet on wet” technique to allow colours to blend, and drying certain layers with a hairdryer to stop colours from bleeding into each other.
Equipment used:
Acrylic Inks by Daler Rowney and Liquitex.
300gsm Canson Heritage Hot Press watercolour paper.
24ct Gold leaf.

Best video on Gilding tips. Thanks
Very helpful hold leaf tips! Clear and concise!
excellent and very helpful tips, thank you so much 😊
When to remove gold leaf after sticking? Cos i tried on painted canvas it got stuck on paint though it was dried surface
This was helpful thank you! I used gold leaf on a painting years ago and now I see it looks awful, a brown colour. It seems to have oxidized. I wonder if I can add gold leaf all over again, otherwise I will have to use gold acrylic paint over those areas. If anyone knows, I would appreciate advice.
Really useful tips and very efficiently presented! Kudos!
Really love it I like to see more thank you
Very nice, thank you!
Great tips! Thank you! And love the de-tacking of the masking tape! So simple yet genius! ❤

Should we put glue before putting gold leaves
This is such an excellent video and a reasonable length too.
Fantastic Tips! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you : )
thanks for the great tips
Great tips - esp glitter bomb one - I’ve been using a hoover 👀😬
very helpful❤❤
I also have a jar of left over gold leaf
you know what works really good instead of a post it note... the wax paper squares the leaf comes in. I use the leftovers to pat down after applying it.
Great tips. Is there such a thing as a spray size for the gold leaf application? When using something like a stencil with specific cut out shapes the size when painted onto the stencil (no matter how carefully) just bleeds underneath so I can't get the precise shape (non-geometric)... Any ideas how to do this or is there a spray size available?
YOU ARE SO SMART THANK YOU‼️
what's the glue you used ?
Brilliant. Concisely explained and ably demonstrated. Re: tidying up specks of gold leaf afterwards, if medieval artists were illuminating manuscripts they always put the gold leaf on first, before adding any colour - at least, so I have read.
Amazing video please keep updating more videos
How do I varnish my gold leaf artwork
How do I keep my gold leaf from tarnishing?
Great tips! Thank You 💜
Gorgeous!
This is beautiful. Are you using water or alcohol for the inks?
Great video, is this real or imitation gold leaf in the video? Thanks
Very useful tips, thank you! Now I feel like I can finally use the gold leaf I’ve been too scared to use for about 4 years. 🫢😁
Your art is so beautiful 👏👏👏
These were all super helpful and I also really love that artwork ! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
So nice and helpful 😁 I use blender instead of brush when I want to remove unglued gold leaves and it's helpful too.
Fabulous tips!! Thank you!
Brilliant...most videos just have music without the actual explanation. Good job.
thanks
I just cut mine in strips with scissors of course before removing from their paper. I use parchment/baking paper to catch excess.
You did an amazing job in teaching so many useful techniques in just 5 minutes. Thank you 😊
Do you ever use a sealant or varnish?
Very helpful T.hank you kindly!!❤
thank you!! ❤
I am just about to try my first project (gold leafing a guitar). Any tips on not having harsh lines from the edges of the leaf?
Use two-sided tape instead of glue (sizing). It puts a razor-sharp edge on the gold leaf. It''s a little thicker than sizing but since you will put 2-3 coats of clear over it, it will level out nicely.
If you’re covering a large area with artificial gold leaf, the nature of the leaf is such that edges are pretty much inevitable. Despite its flimsy nature, it doesn’t really tear easily when you’re trying to remove the excess leaf. If you’re covering a large area, I’d use flakes rather than sheets and work on small areas at a time. You won’t get a mirror finish, but you will get a uniform appearance, any edges become an integral part of the decor, and you’ll get a great shine. Just be sure not to touch the imitation leaf as it will tarnish over time due to the oils in your skin. The only way to minimise edges is to use genuine gold leaf with an oil-based gold size, but that’s a bit more expensive 😉
