I appreciate Jdub's effort in teaching the mechanics of this strategy in this video but a proper backtest needs to be done over a period of at least 36 months or 720 trading days (36 months x 20 trading days/month = 720 trading days) in order to verify the performance, and more importantly, the robustness of a strategy. Some traders might require a 48 month or a 60 month backtest in order to adequately analyze a system's performance and robustness across a more diverse set of market conditions before using a system to trade real money. Aside from performance and robustness metrics, a longer period of backtesting might reveal the need for additional risk controls during periods of drawdown.
