Wrenching with Woody
United States
Приєднався 14 січ 2019
Anything and everything cars. I started this channel as a hobby to share my passion.
I do tutorials on personal cars I'm working on, as well as follow several motorsports. I want to share experiences/lessons that may prove helpful to anyone embarking on their own journey. When making a choice on what direction to go with your car, whether it be mild maintenance or wild modifications, I'll talk about some important things to consider on the path when working on your own projects.
I love to admire and learn about all kinds of cars. While my passion typically revolves around Japanese cars, I won't turn my nose up at any brand or build, because every vehicle owned by an enthusiast is a passion. Even if you don't like what they drive or how they have modified it, that's what makes cars so great. We all get to fill in the blanks on a canvas that reflects who we are, as an extension of our own personality.
Looking forward to sharing this journey with anyone who cares to follow!

Thanks worked for me.
Thanks so much after the fact I,found your video I said to,my self lbukut all these machince and a fucking gormmit got me nuts tested the whole truck wire by wire I find the guy who designed it lol just guess. Woody thanks yes my brake light first last year then my what the Fuck now mine 04 2.4 frontier Thanks
10:24 I believe the primary reason it is recommended not to use a previously opened bottle of brake fluid is: the fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs humidity out of the air. That's a particularly bad thing to happen in a hydraulic braking system, since heat from the pads can boil that water, causing brake fading. The above is probably less of a concern with the hydraulics for a clutch pedal. But in that case, your comments about dirt certainly apply. (And water certainly is a "contaminant" in this context.)
Autozone had the wrong size ones, but O'reilly's had the correct size ones.😊
Thank you Woody. You helped save my day off.
When making your repair videos please indicate what year Miata's this covers. The location of the headlight retractor motor relay is under the dash directly above the clutch pedal on the 1994-1997's . See other UA-cam videos for pics like this one by Miata Man: ua-cam.com/video/NzKethftnls/v-deo.html. It is the one closest to the firewall and is labeled "Retra". My 1995 pop ups weren't working with the stalk but were working with the manual button. And the flash to pass didn't pop them up either. I simply disconnected the plug from the relay, sprayed the contacts with contact cleaner, and plugged it back in. After that everything worked again. Hope this helps.
Replace it with a nut and bolt and you’ll never have to do it again
Too much unnecessary talking
Thanks..kind of hard to hear with the music
😮😮😮😮 Man. I almost overlooked thinking that it was always the brake switch issue. I have my Nissan Juke that comes with push-start button. My SUV is still at garage with the P1078 (exhaust timing valve sensor -rear cam shaft sensor). It is the simple things that we intend to overlook rushing to guess oh it is a battery or starter or failed timing chain or belt or so so.
I absolutely love UA-cam videos that have music blaring louder than the fucking person talks, in between said person speaking. 🙄
Just replaced mine thought it was master and put slave in and couldn’t bleed out turned out the new master was bad right out of box! Put old one in works good!
Thank you for all this info.
music is too loud. useless pointless noise pollution
The part you removed is the clock spring. Had you left it on your horn wire runs through it as well as the airbag wires. Had you left it on you wouldn't have to have that yellow dangling wire.
Thanks a lot. You saved my day
Glad I could help!
A great samaritan!
I wish I had seen this video b4 2day,but I watched several others that I thought showed what I needed to know(& didn't see anything about size specifications for the replacement part on any of them).. AnywayI just went to change the black break grommet & the 2pk.I got that the car shop guy picked out 4 me,is too small for my infinity g35 break pedal. I figured this part/pkg.I got was like universal size, lol! Guess I'll need to order it online now & cross my fingers..
Great video, thank you.
Thank you for the tutorial . Made me troubleshoot my problems and fixe my 4runner!! Love these little trucks.
Hey man! I need one of those! My cruise is not engaging and I couldn't figure out why. Looked on the pedal and sure enough, one grommet on the break switch but not on the cruise switch. Thanks for the video!!!
Glad I could help!
Scoobs and South Carolina. I'm down fam. Only sorry I'm just finding this
Well, you may be in luck. The 2022 event is scheduled for this upcoming weekend(March 4th and 5th, 2022) in Cheraw, SC! Come check it out, if you have the time.
Where did you get the clockspring assembly from?
It's been awhile, but I believe I found this one on ebay. You can get them on rockauto.com, but if you can find a reputable seller with a warranty it can save you quite a bit of money. Just be sure you know if you need the model with or without cruise control before you start looking.
@@WrenchingwithWoody so i didn’t check if it needed for cruise control or not and i bought one with cruise control when it did not need it, would i still be able to use it without connecting the cruise control wires or is it useless and need to look for another one?
@@el_caprichozo4716it will work
God bless you brother. Thank you you saved my car.
Thank you, brother. That means more than you know. Humbled to be used to help someone in a tough spot!
How to change a clutch she’s on an HPI savage
Sorry, I don't have any experience working on rc cars, but this might help: m.ua-cam.com/video/SaC90adHySk/v-deo.html
I had this happen twice; 2018 dealer did the car under recall, this week happened again; instead of using another grommet I used a magnet same size as the grommet, ain't moving and won't disintegrate. Money wise cost me a few cents, timewise took 30 seconds. FYI my car is a 2011 Sonata.
Nice! A magnet is an awesome idea I hadn't considered. I may try that next time. Way better option than jbweld, imo.
Hi! I live in Spain and have an american Miata, I need to replace the A/C relay and bought the N001-61-690 but it doesn't work properly. The workshop mechanic told me that maybe the american version uses a different relay, do you know which part number is the A/C relay? Thanks very much!
I just replaced my clock spring, as well as checking both my LA10 relays and fuses. I have an issue where the headlights won’t pop up with the light switch but it is intermittent. If I blip the high beams, then the pop ups will come up and then stay in the up position.
Had the same issue on my Nissan Frontier for the clutch!
my pop ups won’t work or lights checked relay , fuses everything else works fine . stero gauges , even all my wires are tight
Does the pushing the pop-up button on the dash do anything? If not, I would check the motors next. There is a twist knob under a cap on the motor. If you manually turn it through a full cycle and it doesn't automatically take over then the motors may be dead or not getting power. That wouldn't necessarily address the bulbs not working, but it's a start.
You bought the part for the Honda. The Nissan is a different part. But you're lucky because the Nissan is a million times easier to reach than the Honda.
I think I only saw the one there, but good to know. I have replaced one on my old crx years ago, and yes, those are definitely a pita compared to the Nissan.
great recap Woody.....great to see you at the Shakedown. Great job RalyGrl, first rally down, more to come--Run fast run good!
Thanks! It was great to see you there and chat a bit more. Let me know if you are going to make it out to any other events ralygrl is attending. My Instagram(@nismo_woody) is probably the easiest way to reach me.
It was so good to get the team back together! Thank you for an awesome recap and for all of your continuous support and hard work! <3
Aww, shucks. Thank you Amanda. I am seriously so overjoyed you invited us to be part of your rally family. ❤️
I think I have the very same problem.
If so, it's a pretty easy fix. If you can get in there with a flashlight and pull the boot back a little it's pretty easy to determine if it's leaking. Easy job to do. Much easier with 2 people for the bleeding steps
@@WrenchingwithWoody I pulled the boot back today but nothing leaked out. Could the slave cylinder leak internally?
@@FirstnameLastname-ni9uh no. If you can have someone press the clutch in while you are under the car there is a piston the should press a plate forward at the front of the slave cylinder. My suggestion is the following: 1. Ensure there is enough fluid in the reservoir, if not add brake fluid to the recommended level 2. If the fluid was low, have someone press and release the clutch while you follow the line between the clutch master and clutch slave cyclinder looking for any leaks. 3. Once fluid level is verified and there are no leaks in the lines, get a light on the slave cylinder and watch the piston at the front of the slave cylinder as someone presses the clutch in. If it moves the plate forward and back, the slave cylinder is not the issue. If all of the above checks out then you may have a failed clutch or throw out bearing. What symptoms are you seeing?
@@WrenchingwithWoody when I pump my clutch pedal 5-6 times the pedal just doesn't really want to come back up after and when i bring it back up with my hand it resets and I can pump it few more times.
@@FirstnameLastname-ni9uh yeah, follow the steps from my last reply. Watch the travel distance on the slave. If it isn't fully retracting there is a chance that either the slave is getting stuck(failing slave or master) or the clutch isn't providing enough pressure to reset the slave(bad clutch and/or throw out bearing). You can try replacing the slave cylinder, but there is no guarantee it will fix the problem if the throw out bearing/clutch is failing. I've personally never seen a slave fail without some external leakage, but I am not a professional mechanic.
Were you the driver?
I was not. I do media and am part of the tech crew that works on the car for RalyGrl and her team.
Bahaha a 240sx the exact car I'm having the issue with
I've replaced them in 240sx's like 3 times 😂 But to be fair, I've had several of them over the years and never had to replace the same grommet on the same car a second time. Hope this helped 👍
@@WrenchingwithWoody I’m having same problem with my 240. What did you use to fix yours? Like what part and where would you go buy it?
Where did you use the 11mm flair nut wrench?
Probably the aftermarket slave cylinder, just did mine and it was an 11mm O’Rileys brand.
good job sir.
Thank you, John. I appreciate it.
Woooooo!!
My left blinker went out on mines I had to get a whole new clock bring as well

Very helpful my relays were just loose saved me from a ticket when I noticed they weren’t working at night
Glad to hear it! Mine was a similar issue. I still have problems every now and then, so I think I have a dirty/corroded connection I need to clean up a little better.
