[harvey acc 2018 01 03] (Edited and uploaded by Alexander Koryagin, 2023)
I just noticed that the first three episodes of David Harvey's "Anti-Capitalist Chronicles" are inexplicably not on UA-cam.
It's actually one larger podcast on the history of Neoliberalism, divided into three parts. Therefore, I merged them into one and uploaded to UA-cam for the sake of convenience.
In my estimation, a truly outstanding piece of work by Prof. Harvey, absolutely essential for understanding the basic structure of our contemporary global political and economic situation, not just the US and Europe, but the World as a whole.
Enjoy! 🌸🕉

I miss your videos. Will you post again someday?

I really love the way you make your classes and because of that I want to get the most of your videos. In regards to philosophy of science, my friend (who's into that brand of philosophy) told me that the sociological theory of how science works is outdated compared to the model theory of Frigg. I hope I can have your opinion about that...
Capitalism is not merely an economic phenomena. Capitalism is a religion that people truly believe in more than GOD. And in its purest essence, cash or money is GOD's true representative on earth. Thereby, those who possess the most are the most closest to GOD.
Just another attempt to Intellectualize the moronic, failed, concept of Marxist Socialism. History has proven over and over again every issue created by Capitalism exists in every Socialist regime as well. In fact it is always far worse under Marxist regimes. Always! Not one of these social justice advocates lives by the values they claim to believe in. Wake up you useful idiots.
The Social Darwinist Oligarchs hate you. They want you to be slaves on their plantation. They want you to have no rights, no freedom, and no future. TPTB are there to turn your energy state into fear and anger and sorrow. Whether he realized it or not at the time, when Sinclair Lewis wrote this in 1935, he was describing the Social Darwinist worldview: “Every man is a king so long as he has someone to look down on.” -- Sinclair Lewis The celebrated social theorist and geographer David Harvey explains that neoliberal ideology serves the following principle: "There shall be no serious challenge to the absolute power of money to rule absolutely. And that power is to be exercised with one objective: Those possessed of money shall not only be privileged to accumulate wealth endlessly at will, but they shall have the right to inherit the earth, taking either direct or indirect dominion, not only of the land and all the resources and productive capacities that reside therein, but also assume absolute command, directly or indirectly, over the labor and creative capacities of all those others it needs. The rest of humanity shall be deemed disposable." If that isn't Social Darwinism, I don't know what is.

Capitalism is anti-human.
I love this video. This makes me reaffirm that my desire to continue my philosophy career and my interest in understanding Heidegger is the best for me and what I wanna do. And how you vibe with what you explain and I love that...

2007/8 proved beyond any reasonable doubt that the neoliberal narrative was a false narrative. Bailing out supposedly red in tooth and claw capitalists with huge sums of public monies completely gave the lie to it, but for some reason they got away with it. Worse than that, things like QE meant that the rich were actually able to get richer thereon after and continue to do so. Neoliberalism is socialism for the rich and capitalism is reserved for the poor. Period.

this video has an abnormal number of commercial breaks for some reason.
Hmmm, thanx for the heads up! That's actually very strange, I do not monetise the channel, I assumed there were no ads at all... 🤔
What if we stopped discussing such polarized topics to no avail and leverage the pivotal shift in the capabilities of political theory. The essence of need in politics, changed by the introduction of high-speed communication. Direct democracy has not only the chance to work in america, but all over the world as the inevitable relegations made by residents in each area no matter their perspective areas are made performed much better when there is truly a feeling of representation. We have proven that the feeling, aforementioned, cannot be drawn from those chosen to represent us in those decisions. Inevitably, and especially in this country, the level of misrepresentation that so much political faith is placed results in a critical mass of disilusioned citizens leading to pointless political shuddering accomplishing absolutely nothing. These truths are evident in every political process, each kingdom and everything bigger than a settlement. We selected single individuals to be a collective representation of what we would want, because, and only because we have to. Limited by the inability to maintain a larger social structure in a changing geopolitical world, we had to manage a more contained and responsive subset that with communication having not only the speed it is capable but the infrastructure allowing each type of necessary communication to flow seamlessly, we are able to not only envision something critically new, but actually enact it. I am making this statement as a broad statement not in relation to this video
Sadly, I don't think she takes Tocqueville's critique of democracy seriously enough. Not once does Brown bring up time preference.

Happy to help! I find David Harvey's work immensely insightful and stimulating, there's lost of his stuff, books, articles, podcasts & interviews available on the web! Somehow, this 3-part audio podcast was missing from UA-cam, though!
Epic ‼️ But Popper is problematic in his philosophy of science .. what is wrong with Roy Bhaskhar ?
Popper is deeply problematic. Haven't had a chance to read Bhaskhar, I'm a big fan of Feyerabend, though!
the interesting problem that Nietzsche presents is that one cannot organize a society with a bunch of people running around ignoring moral values trying to become uber men. one could make the argument that society can (and does) handle a small percentile of such men, and those men either end up in jail or become the elite leaders that drive history forward. in the case of the few who capture the zeitgeist, it is possible that they are most responsible for the progression of western civilization (perhaps world civilization). for example it has been found in various studies that the brains of serial killers bare a resemblance to those of executives. i would imagine the same would be the case of generals and world changing politicians. i would argue that it was not a misreading of Nietzsche by his sister or german fascists, i would argue that fascism, and ayn rand runaway capitalism are the natural outgrowths of his philosophy. read crime and punishment. as an aside, i would argue that where western philosophy goes off the deep end (though obviously it has many strengths) as opposed to eastern philosophy, is that eastern philosophy is big on balance. logos and nous can be followed off the deep end. it seems to me that marxism and the various forms of 19th century leftist socialist thoughts are collectivist, and that presents a danger, and nietszche was overly individualistic which presents another danger.
Found it very entertaining and helpful. Txs a Million
Really great stuff! Looking forward to watching more
I just broke up with a very dumb guy recently, but had this fetish that i wanted to date a brute, therein after. The thrill and rush of dating someone so coarse, animalistic, rude, it was exciting.
This is a young man who is barely has time to read any one of the many name he drops in his entirety. The is glib, pretentious.
it is true that as a philosopher locke isn't on the level of other genius philosophers. that being said, his actual political system that he advocates is far superior to almost anyone else. it is precisely his weakness as a philosopher that makes him a great political scientist. he abandons logic and relies more on common sense. would one rather live in plato's republic or a 20th century western democratic country? or a despot like hobbs advocates? we cannot reason what ultimate reality is. therefore the best we can attempt is to create a fluid system, that breaks up power, and attempts to manage disparity. its the best we can do. there are a number of philosophic suppositions in that idea, that cannot be proven, but they make common sense. it is also true that locke held beliefs himself (such as only land owners should vote, etc.) that would be anachronistic today, but it is precisely the openness of the system he advocated that lead to the abandonment of those ideas.
this is one of the best philosophy channels ive stumbled onto on UA-cam.
