This is a truly excellent performance, one of the best. Brava!
Extremely accomplished singing. Technically brilliant. I can hear the B. Fassbaender influence, the squillo in the vowels. Lovely.
brava!
Brava
This is gut-wrenchingly beautiful. Beautiful and yet so sad - brings tears to the eyes. Mahler's music is just awesome. How can evolution bring about such art? There has to be a Creator, it's just glaringly obvious. And it's not just the music; the German words are so beautiful too. The linden tree ( a much nicer name than lime), the tree of lovers for its heart shaped leaves and bark in which their initials can be carved, (famed also for Berlin's main avenue "Unter den Linden") has lovely scented blossom so the image of this blossom snowing on this rejected lover is poignant indeed.
This is so beautiful
GRACIELA NACCARATO ARGENTINA..DIRIGIENDO JUROSKI TODO ES EXCELENTE,. VERDADERAMENTE A PUNTO....
Nobody knew how to depict depression in music, the way Mahler did.The feeling of anger turned inward comes across very clearly - and very well expressed by Alice Coote.
I really loved this. This was story-telling at its best. You really moved me. So many congratulations to you on this wonderful performance.!
I like the faster pace of this interpretation. Absolutely beautiful!
Brava!!!
so beautiful last phrase
Excelentes interpretaciones, especialmente del Manfred de Tchaikovsky
You are so so great!!!! :D
Her diction is very impressive! Certainly not easy to be understood completely during this piece. Brava!
Sweet.
Alice Coote, the greatest voice and the most sincere expression together. A marvel
Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony... hmm. Rare performances aren't surprising to me.
pega17pl :'( But it's so good!
Maybe by missing ironic juggler sound at clarinets and by too technical perfect conducting it's not Mahler. Only Lied #4 "Die zwei blauen Augen" starts with a touch of Mahler but then rules lifeless at singing and playing again.
she looks like she's graduating from college xD
Mahler was okay but both Weber and Tchaikovsky were too fast for my taste. Not even Karajan (one of the fastest conductors) directed the Manfred this fast.
when did Karajan ever direct the Manfred???
Daniel Ayala Seems Karajan never conducted Manfred respectively Manfred isn't at Karajan's recorded repertoire. Strange. Please see, too hvk1955.proboards.com/thread/166/tchaikovskys-manfred
My mistake. I should have said "would have directed".
Karajan fast?!?! Since when has Karajan been fast in anything? He was rebound for taking slower, heavier speeds. Lol! Have you heard Kleiber? He takes it this speed, if not faster.
+Alex Daniel Beethoven's 5th: - Leonard Bernstein: 40 min (the slowest record I know) - Herbert v. Karajan: 30 min (the fastest record I know) Karajan not fast? Really?
too bad the video is so low def. Why is that? I love that Jurowski keeps his head out of the score and in the orchestra where it belongs. Great work.
Devastating...
WOW no words...
Brilliant dissertation on Wagner's life, politically chaotic Germany, the creation of the mythology behind The Ring and the composition of The Ring Cycle. The only drawback is the Royal Opera's production of the tetralogy, which in my opinion, nowhere even approaches the breathtaking genius of Wagner's creation. But as with most Wagner productions today, one can close their eyes and allow Richard Wagner to conjure up his "theater of the mind."
This is just about the most beautiful thing ever. Brava, Alice!
