I am looking into purchasing a vacation rental in Mahogany Bay through ReMax after staying there this past March for 5 days. Their website says they have in-house property management. I. Looking to buy already built. Website says 185k. I will be a long distance investor. Perhaps we can talk?

That’s why we sold our Mahogany Bay lot and bought in Placencia. A little bit South makes a big difference.

Hi Linda, my name is Ruben Torres. I’ve been watching your videos on UA-cam for about a year now and you put out some good information. My wife and I bought a lot in the habitat communities by secret beach and we will be coming out there in July to see whether or not we want to move forward on a build on the property, but I’ve been interested in Placencia maybe that would be a better fit for her we have a bunch around 300,000. We’re looking for a property with ocean views we don’t necessarily have to be right on the beach but at least the short walk to it. If you have your own business, you can actually get your own work permit to work in your business, not just manage it. My partner and I own a business, and I have permanent residence, and he has a work permit to work as a general contractor. This was approved before we even had any locql workers. I had an experienced person help me with the work permit. Let me know if you would like a referral. For hiring other workers, though, you do need to hire locals or people with residence unless you can prove there is no one suitable for the work.

I understood that job opportunities for expats in Belize are limited. Businesses are required to hire Belizeans, correct? I thought expats could not work directly but could only manage businesses. Are some professions exempt from this requirement if the government identifies a special need and there are not enough qualified Belizeans available? Thank you for clarifying.

Hello Linda! Your channel is SOOOO helpful! I have a rental property in Belize which is vacant. I am reviewing the update twith BTB but I have a question in which I cant find the answer to. Given the update in 2022 for the the long term BTB certification requirement, is a BTB license required to rent to a belizean resident? Thank you!

Lots of good information. I wasn't aware that an owner needs a hotel license to rent out their home; good to know in advance. The rules for QRP have changed very recently, lowering the qualifying age from 45 down to 40 years, and allows for business investment but must be at least $500k. I wonder if renting out a home would be allowed for a QRP person, or would that also constitute a business.

Hello Linda my wife and I are moving to Belize this summer. Ideally we would like to be on the Island of Ambergris Caye, but I am uncertain if we can get our truck to the island as we are driving from Canada. The second option would be to rent in Placencia initially until we get settled, then look at buying or building on Ambergris Caye. Ince our home sells and we get our closing date I would like to rent a place for 12 months prior to our arrival in Belize so we have a place once we arrive. Is this something you can help us with? What if you have an airbnb in belize that your company earns money on, can you pay yourself from your own company and use the foreign income exclusion?

I am wondering if you can shed some insight on Titling fees. One agent recommends putting the belize property in my name right away and waiting out the process to receive my title and another agent is wanting me to put a couple lots i have interest in, in Belize property in an IBC that costs nearly $100 per month per lot. Which is the best way to go. Vacant land right now but will have a short term rental in a couple years. Please help.
