so whens the season?
Hope I win! 🤞🏼
This is great!! Very informative and high-quality documentry?..
Thanks for sharing your wisdom👍
Not sure about wisdom but definitely many hours spend trying to understand the mindset of theses stagers. There are countless ways to hook up these kings. We had fun shooting this video especially with the under water footage strengthening a lot our theories while explaining our approach. This is the perfect time of year to target them which typically only last a moth at best. Good luck out there
I drive to port hope and fish off the river mouth. Would it be better to come here you think. Great video.
Port Hope has some incredible fishing this time of year. Probably the best stager fishing Lake Ontario offers. Although it Sounds like they are a little later this showing up this season they’ll be there. I’d say you’re in good spot. Best of luck
Great video . I love my 185 Alumicraft with exception of the drivers side council. It's basicly falling appart and manufacturer is realy trying to not wattanty it . Mine is a 2022 so Covid quality is bag .How's yours holding up ? Time now to go after them again 😛
That’s too bad. We absolutely love the set up. And luckily haven’t had any issues like that. A perfect Great Lakes boat for chasing these kings. Hopefully they can catch up with your issues now things are are a bit more relaxed in the industry after the COVID craze
Fish On !!!!
Thanks for the information on rigging flies for trolling. Good, on point advice!
Does anyone ever try musky lures to get aggression strikes. Like bucktails, or larger crankbaits?
We’ve haven’t personally tried em but out side of musky hooks possible being a bit large I’m sure you could trigger strikes with em in the stager grounds ya.
Awesome, thank you for a great promotion.
how are you rigging the camera to your set for that shot angle and avoid wobbling while trolling?
Sorry for the late reply Our camera guy used a troll pro camera housing designed for use on down riggers. It comes with attachment with a short cable to get away from the cannon ball disturbance. We ran pretty short leads to help keep in the camera view. But honestly works great.
How do u have camera on that bait and if its a special camera what is it love video
Our camera guy used a “troll pro camera housing” designed for trolling behind down riggers. We ran a pretty short lead but the housing is designed to take away any wobbling and turbulence. Works well
It is a very nice and instructive video. And this is mostly about Salmon fishing. Today is May 23-2024. I am fishing in Humber Bay, in front of Toronto Islands and further east up to Ashbridge's park. Can Laker be caught on depth of 60'-70' this time? The air temp is 65°F water surf is 56°F. I would like to hear your opinion about this. Thank you.
Andy Sorry for the late reply. I’ve been forced to step away from the water for a bit but can still chyme in on messages like this. Although we’re a week since your message it would typically be tough to find lake trout in that area most of the season. May is a good time for lakers but when in the west end of Lake Ontario I would recommend the south shore spanning from the Niagara river to Hamilton and the north shore typically has some good lake trout fishing from Oakville to hamilton. I like the bronte area best. I don’t find Temperatures play a big roll when targeting lakers. The majority of lakers ontarios lake trout population like deep cold water. We often fish 60 to 100 ft of water when in Bronte aiming our baits several feet off bottom. With either mag spoons or a flasher/deep rig combo. I find spoons are the most rewarding fight as these deep lake trout are not the hardest fighting fish until near surface so the least resistance bait like a spoon helps with that. Jigging is also another great technique if equipped with spot lock on the trolling motor. If I were in Humber bay this time of year I’d point towards the east gap where you can often find some kings including a deep water program. Extremely deep 150 plus. Please feel free with any other questions or comments. As tough as it’s been off the water this spring it’s still great to chat about fishing
Curious as to what size deep rig, Tackle cut bait, you are using a 5 inch or 6 inch which seems to be the preferred size?
Pole setter. I apologize for the late reply. Unfortunately we’ve had to step away from the water this spring. I honestly have confidence in both sizes. I typically run the smaller size if just using a single treble hook but know several guys that add a trailer side wash to dangle just behind the bait when using the large size when looking for a larger presentation especially when fishing deeper.
Sustainably.... The fish dies after it spawns... Stocked fish... Smh...
Not wearing a pfd in a little boat in "cold water" time?
I can’t afford a probe so I just fish until I find some and just try to recreate the bite on my other rods. Usually works well
Great video, you’re easy to listen to. And I’ll try your method too.
awesome boat congrats on her. best of luck this year fish fish fish!
Great video! Very informative. Thank you
I notice Jake is intensely watching the dash and that your kicker engine is up. Do you typically troll with your main engine? I think I'm gonna try spin doctors and 3 mph this season on Lake Michigan. Thanks
The Northwest Michigan Fishing Club does a "Cisco in the Crisco" veterans event that has grown each year since it's inception. Fun times for all!
Great information. Thank you guys for sharing all of this hard earned intel. We are heading out of Ft. Niagara in May and this will surely help us connect with more fish. Much appreciated.
Ever try the second hole on your SDs for a more aggressive rotation? 3mph is probably too fast for that?
Great video! We fish across the pond from you on the south shore. Love you attention to detail, and organization, right down to the stickers on your reels for 5 color etc! Nice job. Good to see others with my OCD 😂😂😂
Fishing for numbers, 2.2-2.4 @ 45-50 degrees Fishing for the lone big fish, 1.9 @ 39-42 degrees
Hello. I'm still trying to organize a time to pick this up. I left you a message on instagram. Thank you
Amazing event!!
There are various proven ways to rig divers that don't require hand lining. I'm not as experienced as you folks but I've used a variation of NFN's method as well as the OR 16 method and these methods work. Love the videos! Thank you
I agree slide divers are another option. Everyone has there preference no doubt. Appreciate your insight and taking the time to comment. Cheers
Hi@@silversalmonchallenge1807, I haven't used slide divers but I understand they are useful. The methods I was commenting about use dipsey-diver style divers and various methods to remove them from the line so you can keep reeling beyond the diver location. Thanks again!
I just finished this charter with my school’s fishing club and It was entirely paid for by these awesome people. We learned so much and we had a blast. Thank you to the Silver Salmon Challenge crew for making these trips possible!
It was a pleasure having you and your school mates out. Great day fishing with young eager anglers introducing you to our incredible salmon fishery. We Look forward to doing it again with your crew.
Excellent content...thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Enjoy Watching your videos.
Another great video! Looking forward to the October Blue Zone strategy. Thanks again for the great information. I’ve never run my flies that close to the flasher. Will definitely be trying that next stager outing.
Great Happy to share. I have found the shorter the lead quicker the speed but let us know how it works for you
Mind blowing ! Great information saves a new angler years of learning just by listening to this! That fish that kept going for the spin doctor was unreal! Had a feeling they do that now you answered it with proof !
Thanks for reaching out and passing this along. We really enjoy using this platform to help share countless years of knowledge that don’t really apply anywhere else in the world. And if it helps advance anglers, like yourself have better outings It’s great to share
