I totally feel you on being mad about that ridiculous repair cost from Coach, very embarrassing on their part. I do have a suggestion about how to open this clasp a bit more reliably, I found that these quilted tabby clasps need to be pulled straight out since they have a ball at the end; meaning you may have to pull the tab below the buckle slightly down before pulling out, since its natural resting position is already being pulled up due to where the flap connects to the bag and the handles. Otherwise, the ball on the end of the little pole going into the clasp is being pulled upward at the same time you're trying to pull it out, which means it misses the wide enough opening of the circle. It's certainly finicky about having to pull straight out for a clasp like this, but I do find it far easier than opening those Coach Idol bags with the huge magnetic C since they make it easy to scratch the leather of the bag just to get a hold of the clasp.

I wonder if it the certain color that has the smell from the dye. I’m sorry both my bags came in like the leather smell like my dooney’s but mine are lighter color bags. Millisa got here’s and no smell either , but I have heard one or two other that said theirs smelled but I didn’t think to ask the color they bought. You should have returned it. TFS 👛🛍️🚢🦆🙏

I returned my Clementine because of this “gasoline” smell. Someone said that regular Italian leather does NOT ever smell like that and shouldn’t and they’re right. There’s definitely something strange going on. And the company does not acknowledge this issue at all. They like to downplay how bad the problem is. As nice and affordable as it is, this odor makes the bag not worth having.

Really appreciate the update on the Horse Clementine bag.🫶 Your testament on the smell does make me steer from purchasing from the brand. I’m definitely sensitive to those scents. I do enjoy the leather + dye scent, but if it’s filtering through your home space as you described, there is definitely something very unnatural about how the bag was processed. Just got my black with gold hardware last week and it smells like leather. And yes, I do know the difference between leather and gasoline. So, if you don’t like it , I’m sure you can return it.

I think it’s the dye that they use and not the leather itself that’s giving off a smell. If you find out, please let us know!

That is just so odd. I LOVE mine, it has a VERY strong leather smell, so I love it. I wonder what is making yours smell so differently? It is just so easy to use. :-) Hopefully, yours will be smell free soon. :-)
