I never had the privilege of meeting her . From listening to this video about her she knew how to cook . She said she would go to the store and buy food and prepare food so it would stick to their ribs for the people in the 9th ward.

I am 61 years old and my daddy would play Ms Jackson throughout the house. Daddy and mummy have dementia but they know Ms Jackson .I used to lay on the floor in front the gram and just listen to her. I loved her and think she was the gospel. Amazing woman of God.❤

My mama use to tell me about her father telling them a story about one of sisters who ran away that was a gospel singer and had a brother named Peter! When I was in elementary school I read about her and the booked stated that she indeed had a brother name Peter and that she ran away! I always thought after she was my great aunt, I’m convinced!!

My paternal grandparents' home was used by Mrs. Mahalia Jackson when she was traveling thru parts of the South. My grandmother would provide meals and private sleeping quarters for any entertainer on the Chitlin Curcuit in her area.
