Quadzilla LT500s attack Utah's Little Sahara State Park's Sand Mountain Monster Dune!
I know, I know. I finally had a chance to sit and edit. Yea yea yea....
A cool damp September day spent ripping around Little Sahara State Park's Sand Mountain in Utah. After a rain soaked night, multiple technical difficulties we managed to get about 40 miles in before we had to pull up the tent stakes and head to Coral Pink. I'll have video from that portion of the trip posted sometime in the next 6 months :)
This is my first time using the GoPro telemetry info. It's pretty interesting stuff and I think it made for a neat addition to the video. It definitely allowed us to see the change in elevation as well as how fast we are actually going vs how fast you think you are going. At least as accurate as the GoPro's GPS is.
So is it 700ft tall like they claim? I think it most definitely is, but you won't find a 700ft straight up hill climb situation. That said it is still a long haul up the face of it!

This was from the day after the brutal dune crash video. It's kind of a leisurely rip around the south end of Coral Pink. I was out by myself so wasn't ripping along at our usual pace. I know never go out by yourself. The rangers where aware I was going out and the general area I was headed, just in case I didn't check back in. What kind of shape is it in? Has it been ridden recently? Start with the basics, make sure all the brakes are working and in good shape. Check your clutch and throttle, make sure everything works as it should. Get it in the air and check for play in the suspension, worn ball joints, tie rods, pivot bearings, etc.. For the engine really depends if it’s been sitting or running recently. Change the fluids pull the stator cover check the crank for play. Make sure carb boot is in good chair and that the is all sealed. Pull plug rotate engine make sure everyone spins freely. That should be a good start.

      @ it’s very mint. It’s got brand new graphics. The frame is really good shape. I just had to do it tuneup on it adjusted the carb put new reads stuff like that. I got me a case saver from a guy in Massachusetts. Very good quality for a good price and order me a skid plate as we go down to Georgia at Durhamtown at least 5 to 6 times a yearlooking forward to going to Silverlake in Michigan this year. They said those dunes are really good.

I bought it off a guy who is getting a divorce in Orange County And I loved both bikes they were beautiful razors and Sans skate twos pipe and car silencer Nerf bars, handlebars, front and rear bumpers my God, the bikes were beautiful and then I did both of them in black plastic. They were awesome I do miss them. Nothing compares to them not even the banshee, because the 500 you sat down behind it and the banshee you sit kind of on top of it and I don’t like that I wanna sit down behind the bike especially with 500 ccI do miss that bike and the stretched one was more of a drag racer. From what ive seen these cant even beat a 450 ? Must have been a huge engine design flaw compared to a kx/cr500 . I heard these only make like 40 hp?. . Sound like they take forever to get theu the gears or even top out a single gear while every one else is redlining spinning thru every gear with ease

    • @QuadGuyCy
      @QuadGuyCy 8 місяців тому

      I've walked past 450s, but like anything, you're only as fast as your wallet. We've run side by side with KX and CRs even though we have 200lb disadvantage. Anything can sound fast, I've heard blasters that sound like they are going a million miles an hour. The Zilla has so much torque in the mids you do not need to ring them out to make power which is part of the beauty of it. You can luge them like a 4 stroke. Stock they were rated at 51hp.

    Awesome content here, enjoyed the comparison and discussion about parts availability. So, I'm picking up an 87 zilla tomorrow. My first 500! I have 3 LT250r's and love them. If I have a question or two it looks like this is a great place!

      Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it! Also congrats on your new acquisition! Feel free to ask questions. I really want to do some LT250R content and some more tech oriented videos in the future but currently without a shop…
