"True Colours" is a song by British band Go West, released in 1986 as the lead single from their second studio album Dancing on the Couch.
I love this song because it makes me feel like I'm watching an episode of Ally McBeal!
AMAZING! This never gets old. She is so underrated. "This old love has me bound , but this new love cuts deep". Great songwriter.
😢
I'm not the sort of person who falls In and quickly out of love But to you I gave my affection Right from the start I have a lover who loves me: How could I break such a heart? Yet still you gained my attention Why do you come here When you know I've got troubles enough? Why do you call me When you know I can't answer the phone? Make me lie, when I don't want to And make someone else some kind of an unknowin' fool You make me stare, when I should not Are you so strong or is all the weakness in me? Why do you come here And pretend to be just passing by? But I need to see you, And I mean to hold you Tightly Feeling guilty, worried, Waking from tormented sleep This old love has me bound But this new love cuts deep If I choose now, I'll lose out One of you has to fall But I need you, and you Why do you come here When you know I've got troubles enough? Why do you call me When you know I can't answer the phone? Make me lie, when I don't want to And make someone else some kind of an unknowin' fool You make me stare, when I should not Are you so strong or is all the weakness in me? Why do you come here And pretend to be just passing by? But I need to see you, And I mean to hold you Tightly
Masterpiece....loved this song from the first time I heard it over 40 years ago
I heard this on totally accident not my bag But wow What a musical genius Bettered by the voice I love
Brilliant. This bit is just perfect phasing, every time I hear this I’m shook at how simple but perfect it is. “If I choose now, I lose out, one of you has to fall.. and I need you.. and you” damn girl 😢
I don’t think it’s simple to sing like that It’s not trained It’s something different 👍
It's sad that so many people have heard of "one hit wonder" Tracy Chapman and yet they haven't heard of Joan Armatrading, one of the greatest female songwriters of all time. 😊
One hit wonder? Okay sure.
Most underrated song.
Such a beautiful song❤
I always confused her with Tracy Chapman during the 80's
How lovely
i have been playing it thousands of times after i was introduced to it.
Some people walk on weakness who dont deserve to, because your weak they always will. 😢

Love this song 💔
❤❤
Matter-of-factly... ... I WAS JUST PLAYING SOME OF TRACY,,S GREATEST HITS...
I love Go West but this sounds way too similar to "We Close Our Eyes".
Who is owner of this tune coz heard it on anther women her names is Keisha white
It’s Joan’s.
Joan, telling a story in song. Is it verse or non-rhyming poetry in song?
0:54 so utterly heartfelt..Joan can tell a story in just a few words..she is spellbinding.
I was going to say she is underrated and unappreciated, but not true if you love music. I've always loved her ❤️
Sinto sua falta.
vonderful song❤
Brilliant songwriter…
Favorite artist and song!❤
❤
❤
I was a wee little bub when my dad would play Joan...but this song..this song always brings me back to watching my mum and dad dancing like no one coould see. ❤❤❤ beautiful ❤
One of the most emotional songs I've ever heard...Joan sang with a special emotion❤🔥
She gives the song just the right amount of gravitas when singing about this all too familiar dilemma.
I searched this song because of 10 things I hate about you.
Me too. The song and the movie made me cry.
This is a song about despair. But BTW, what a writer
Before there was Tracy Chapman... there was Joan Armatrading.
She's amazing
That’s funny, they do sound similar
not in the same league..
Much before Tracy Chapman..
@@paulcamacho360 Right, 2 totally different type of musicians it amazes me how quickly some compare them. Joan tells the full story. 🤗
The coolness in her
I love the coolness in the singing
Came here from 10 Things I Hate About You, such a beautiful song! 💗
Yes
Just watched
Saw Joan in the Apollo Glasgow 1978, have been Fan ever since…
Same here 17 years old
So beautiful.
Wow. Achingly beautiful.
Great Sound ❤😂🎉
😢
If there’s a better song about someone in love and falling for someone else, please let me know (I’d honestly want to hear that, because it would have to be a great one). Poignant, honest, heartfelt vocals…good friend turned me on about a year before Chapman and “Fast Car” showed she was an even bigger fan of her than I was.
Never get tired of this song.
Omg! There's a video!?... I recently fell in love with this song. And have been listening to it non stop but didn't realise there's a music video til now. My friend played me drop the pilot about 6 months ago, and ever since I loved her❤
It was not available online until this upload. It seems to only be available on an Australian greatest hits VHS these days.
How wonderful is this? Pure genius brilliance. A great talent. Thank you Joan.
Masterpiece at its best
Such a beautiful song, her early albums were the soundtrack of my teens and early 20s. Joan is one of the greatest songwriters and performers to come out of the UK yet she remains so much less well known than she should be. My one regret is never having seen her live.
Shes still alive isn’t she? So there’s still possibility 😊 I hope u’ll be able to see her live someday!
Same here. I have listened to Joan from the 1970's and was lucky to see her a few years ago. She was tremendous! Her voice is still as strong as ever in her 70's! What amazed me was how many instruments she can play. It was an awesome concert and she came back for three standing ovations such is Joan's grace and humility❤
@@artsyhyd I hope so, will mean travelling a bit as I live in Cornwall and nobody comes here. :)
@@SerenDipity64711 She's one of our great treasures. I'm happy for you that you got to see her. A very talented lady. The nearest I've got is standing on her 'walk of fame' star in Birmingham! But hope to catch her in concert some day. x
@@skyboswell if u have the chance to go to her concert dont miss it, I made the mistake for Linkin Park concert and now I will never see Chester sings live! 😢
That song is not fair…
Joan lonely hearts
