UNBOXING Nintendo Switch | STILL GREAT? ♟
just got a notice in my area that fibre is coming to me!!
That’s great, I’m sure you are excited as we were. Will you be getting it installed? :)
@@everythingcubed4210 for sure! Do you have w to pay to get the old copper cable replaced by fibre
We dont get as much speed as you and we're with fibre aswell. We dont have any boosters though, do they come in handy? We dont get wifi from across half out house and we are thinking of getting a booster. For some reason we dont have that purple/grey cable you have. Do we need to buy one? Our internet speed with fiber is up to 70. And it got installed today.. Other issue is We cant connect to our internet now. Im unsure whats the issue is im not an expert in this sort of thing. The highest we get is 10 on ethernet pcs.. And it says our DNS has an issue or something. It jumps from 10 and back down to 3.. Is there a way to solve this?
Hello, so the purple cable is only for copper connections. Now that you are on fibre It’s no longer needed. Your speeds will probably be slow if you have a different plan to us - we are on a 500mb/s plan but you could be on a 100mb/s one? And yes we do recommend the boosters, you should be able to get them for free if you give sky a call. Any variations in your speeds are either caused by too much internet traffic in your area or your connection stabilising because it is new. :)
@@everythingcubed4210 Hi, thanks for that! We might get a booster. We just found out our router was actually faulty! so no one was getting internet except the ethernet ones. We are getting a new router so hopefully it will improve speed! We are on the 100mb/s one i think! Thanks for helping out. Hopefully our internet isnt slow. They are sending another router out.
@@kirahhAbout a month ago we also had to replace the router because there were weird issues where it would not let our sky box transmit ethernet properly. I guess they can often be faulty! (Although the router that was replaced was fairly old, the new one definitely was slightly different at least in terms of the material it was made from for better thermals I assume)
@@everythingcubed4210 I get mine again soon. Hopefully it sorts it out! Its our DNS issues when we want to play games and stuff. Hopefully it fixes. Hopeing its the router and not PC's haha!
Were getting this but with fiber optic too. Do we need fiber for it to work? Sorry maybe a silly question!
Hello, we recently made a video of us getting fibre with the same router - be sure to check it out! The router works with both copper and fibre, for fibre connections there is a box that is installed that converts the light into Ethernet that plugs into the routers WAN port. :)
@@everythingcubed4210 Hi, we got our fiber too. We had it fitted today but for some reason it stopped working when the man left! And theres no purple cable either. (I hope you understand) Is this normal?
Now, here’s the thing, BT OpenReach is installing all this fibre throughout the UK and BT engineers connect the fibre ONT inside your house. That’s fine, but then you need a service provider to get use of that fibre facilities. I have my copper connection, called FTTC which is ‘Fibre To The Cabinet” and I get my Telephone and Broadband at about 50Mb/s as well as an basic entertainment package from sky. I also have a Satellite Dish on Sky. The entertainment package and the talk package seems quite reasonably priced…. BUT the Broadband cost is very high putting my total cost up to about £60 p.m. My wife and I are pensioners and would like to keep our copper fed phone. The thing that I do not get is why SKY charges so much for the Broadband feed when in fact it was all installed and maintained by BT and OpenReach. It seems to me that Sky is taking advantage of the Fibre Network installed and maintained by BT and OpenReach and charging an excessive amount and profiting excessively. Other providers also charge quite a lot for the Broadband. The entertainment and Talk facility is fine but the add on for Broadband seems excessive.
How is it running? Any issues?
All has been OK with stable high speeds, although recently it would appear that the Ethernet port on the sky Q TV box has stopped working (and so the booster upstairs in the study), sky have sent us a new router which they think will solve the problem. Other than that, we are extremely happy and It’s a huge improvement over the previous plan.
@@everythingcubed4210 Thank you for the prompt reply! Hope you get it sorted!
@@googlefriend7685The new router came yesterday (same router, but I expect they made some minor changes since our previous was quite old and It’s made of a different material (probably better thermal properties) and it has fixed our problems. :)
@@everythingcubed4210 Thanks for the information!
hi can use broadband TpLink or Asus ? Thanks
I believe you can use 3rd party routers, (although not recommended)
@@everythingcubed4210 why not recommend?
i have now convinced my parents to switch from a 128mb/s broadband to a 1130mb/s
Hi mate so I'm a fibre engineer, what reason did the engineer give for not installing the fibre where you originally wanted it looks to me that the engineer just went for the easy option, on average as long as there are 2 power sockets and there's an external wall in the room you want it installed there is no excuse not to install it in that room upstairs or downstairs it doesn't matter there are a few exceptions but from the video they don't really apply, as for providers all they do is tell openreach what speed you're paying for and openreach sends that to your ONT/router the main reason you don't get the full 500mb/s all the time is based on how good the splice was in the CSP (grey op box on the outside) there will always be some amount of dust trapped in the splice and other impurities and where the cable plugs into the CBT (fibre terminal on the pole/pit) as it's not spliced in that connection is the weakest link but splicing on a pole it damn near impossible and dangerous due to weather and other factors sorry for the long comment but wanted to also give anyone who read this comment some insight to why they most likely won't get the speeds that they pay for and give some advice, the best advice I will give don't be loyal to any individual provider when your contract runs out figure out what speed you want then compare all the providers and go for the cheapest offer available also if one room in the house is getting weak signal tell your provider you've got a dead spot in the house most providers guarantee signal throughout your home and normally will provide boosters free of charge😉 got to say i enjoyed your vid and have just subbed
Thanks!
Have you heard of the new internet company brsk who are setting up at the moment. Good speeds for the money by the looks of things , not sure how good there routers are tho .
Hi, I am with sky and I'm on the ultrafast+ Im constantly getting speeds below 500mbs averaging 85 to 130mbs. Spoken to sky and they are saying the speed is correct going to my house but I might have router issues. Can you elaborate on that please. Engineer is coming out next week thankfully. But I've never achieved 500mbs as they stated I would. It's so inconsistent I feel I'm paying for a product that simply is not working. Thank you.
@@wozzaclk7798hi so this could be down to many different reasons could be a faulty Ethernet cable from the ont to the router or the engineer who installed your fibre might have installed the incorrect ont inside your house this is a fairly common issue as the different types look identical except the Ethernet port is yellow on the slower ont and orange on the faster Ont but the engineer should be able to get this sorted pretty easy, if it’s the Ont it’s as easy as swapping it over and calling dcoe (openreach) to activate the new Ont
@@ThatFibreGuy Thank you for replying 👍 fingers crossed I can get this sorted
Didn’t think you could use the sky q to bridge WiFi to Ethernet
Yep, you can either use it to connect a device to ethernet to provide wifi (e.g for us currently the sky Q box provides the wifi to the booster) or alternatively from a router (or booster) to provide wifi to the sky Q box. (This works for any sky product including the mini box). I think it automatically decides which provides internet to which device depending on which has higher internet speeds.
That's crap for fibre sky are a bad company for fibre been with sky years and their equipment is shockinh
Hey, I still have the Sky Q Hub (ER115) from 2019. Am i entitled to this router upgrade free of charge?
Hello, yes you should be entitled to it for free. We have had to phone sky in order to get things like our fibre, hub and boosters, we got the hub because we complained about the awful performance of the sky Q hub (mainly because it got extremely hot) and then it got delivered promptly.
I can't wait for full fibre to become available in my area. I'm still stuck with Sky FTTC. Connection itself is great and for the 10+ years I've had it, it's been rock-solid stable. My ping with FTTC is great (hovers around 4-5ms to servers nearby when directly connected via Ethernet). However, I want full fibre so I can download larger files much quicker. That's what I'm looking forward to most about upgrading. It doesn't seem like fibre is coming to my area anytime soon though, which sucks.
We were quite surprised that we had the option to upgrade to FTTP considering we are in a fairly rural area, and we have been to very remote areas which still have fibre, so It’s very possible you’ll get the option sooner rather than later!
Its garbage
What a mess with all them cables 😂 sky broadband router is 💩 go with EE full fibre better equipment
At the time of recording wireless fibre speeds are not available from the main network providers. :)
Can you also test the FritzBox 5530 or FritzBox 5590 Fiber would be very interesting to see greetings from Germany 😊
Feels like such a long time ago we recorded this even though it was only 3 years ago! An update: currently on 70mb when your near the router and we have just been offered fibre to the home which will bring speeds up drastically (1000+mb possible) and allow more devices to be connected at once which the copper cables struggled to do. Can’t believe this video almost has 100k views!
Thanks guys you really helped me more than Sky did. Thanks 👍🙏👍
Good video on a subject tjsts nit to common in yiu rube given the amount of people who actually have them ... my only criticism is the music volume way roo loud and over powering made it hard to hear
I like how a young person is reviewing this better than an adult.
Ha lol thanks. Still embarrassing to hear our young voices though. 🥶
@@everythingcubed4210 No that's fine :) keep it up and soon you'll be just as confident when you're older too don't let anyone make you feel embarassed about any of this, because at the end of the day they can't do it and you can! Good job :)
trust me sky wifi is sooo ded i feel sad that you bought that shity wifi
We didn’t buy it because sky have loyalty benefits, we phoned them because the older sky Q broadband router wasn’t doing us any good, additionally we are on sky because of how all of the products work together as a mesh network - so the router is connected to an Ethernet cable to a downstairs sky Q (video) box which emits a wifi signal that seamlessly connects, same with the Sky Q mini and all of our boosters outside and in dead spots. We’ve been happy and we’re glad we have been able to get these ~50 speeds across our entire home in a remote village on copper cables. Whatever floats your boat.
Top job guys mines arriving on Wednesday :-)
I just came across your video after ordering my new sky broadband hub. Nice video, but just a word of advice - you should blur out and hide your wifi ID and password details at 4:11
Hello, we weren't too concerned about it because we changed our wifi password and username through the settings page.
This video is a bit embarrassing because we were quite young then. So to the comments who say that we might not know the proper names, looking back on the video now we might understand a little where you were coming from. :) Currently, we have internet hardwired to many devices so we are getting 50 download from far away places like our sky Q box, that being hardwired we get the exact same speeds as in the router room, which is great because our SkyQ box acts as a network extender, same with the SkyQ mini box.
Hi, as an elderly gentleman, what is the process involved to get Sky Q Box to talk to Router, or am I missing something?
It is very simple, all you need to do is hold the WPS button on both devices and after a few minutes when both lights are green you should be good to go. :) Another way (the proper way) is to go into settings and make sure that the network connection is ticked, if not then you can re-do the network connection. Also it is always worth to do that even if it is ticked if your internet speed is slow in it, the Sky Q box will act as a range extender when connected, if you didn’t know that already. If the router is far away, you might want to bring it closer to the SkyQ hub if you have any closer telephone cables nearby, eventually we had sky put a ethernet (copper cable) down from where the router is located to where the sky Q hub is located. So then the SkyQ hub would have a hard wired stable and very fast speeds the same as you would get if you were close by to the router, this also allowed us to connect our TV, sounbar and any other devices like a game console in. Hope this helps!
@@everythingcubed4210 Thanks very much for the tip. Terry Davis
Hi Ican u help me please? Ive recently got this hub and the WiFi is great. I downloaded the sky hub app and had full control of all devices using the WiFi. Until yesterday when I come home from work to find that the app is not connected to hub. I've tried connected it but for some reason it won't connect. I received notification saying my hub is set on factory reset default. Don't understand because all devices in the house are connected to hub.
Perhaps try reinstalling the App. Hope it is ok now.
This is a great video, but the music is too loud, I can barely hear what is being said.
Yes sorry, we were very young back then, we edited it ourselves.
Why is the audio out of sync?
Not sure.
Excellent review lads, thorough and interesting. It looks like a big improvement over the old router.
shit this kid left home early!
Yeah, we kinda know a lot of things especially with technology lol. Kinda our hobby.
Pure milking the video
Be sure to watch 15:35 to see a montage on what this drone can do!
15mb of speed that’s awful 😅
Not sure which part you are referring to but it tends to go up and down depending on the router location and amount of people using it, with our current placement of the router and booster, without many devices using it you will find over 50 speeds in the main rooms and 30 or more in corners of the house, if lots of people are using it then it’s like around 20+
@@everythingcubed4210 sky broadband is the worst one to use of them all you mainly need 100mb+
You are supposed to wait 2 weeks for the network to mature, we are getting up to 60 speeds now throughout the house.
Had this for 4 days and is the slowest thing ever
Sorry to hear that, maybe try moving it into different places Ect, sometimes it can depend on your location but sky could help you out with a booster or something. You may also want to upgrade to the upgraded plan which is for 56 megabits a second whereas the standard one is like 20 something I believe.
@@everythingcubed4210 we got a booster it is next to my Xbox and still changed nothing
Have you tried Ethernet? So you plug in the Ethernet cable from the booster into your XBox

Hi could you tell me how many inches wide the hub is please? As need to buy a shelf! Thanks
It’s relatively small expect no more that 3 inches wide and the face of it is probably two thirds of a A4 sheet, there may be specifications on the sky website. :)
If you just press the thing that was on the bottom of your screen it would’ve took in you to set it for myself orfor a family member
You have to have an iPhone 6 or later not a five Apple specifically says you have to have an iPhone six or later but the video is great
I have a iPhone 7, for almost 2 years now, before that a SE for two years and my first phone was my dads old iPhone 4s.
Poor wireless signal on this especially during peak times. Just daisy chain to a bt smart hub cheap off eBay and see the massive difference.
It depends where you are in the country and your setup like how many people use it, the location in your house etc I believe.
I have a second sky hub laying around is there anyway I could use that? If so how
Shell energybroadband
Okay
Slowest intertnet i have used
Okay
We live in a very remote place on copper cables, so it is actually high speeds compared to others in the area. If you live in cities or have fibre then obviously you’ll have higher speeds.
Launch sky service in India including sky sports channels and sky mobile 5G SIM
What a lovely video! I found this very helpful. Thank you boys. 😊👍🏻
Thankyou :)
We might be doing a 1 year review of this soon?!?
Why you not connect the router to your sky box wirelessly? You don’t need a wire. Signal won’t be as good but better then running a long wire all round the house
We found that it would definitely be worth it, as we moved our router downstairs so now it’s connected directly to our booster using Ethernet. It just gives us more reliable internet that we need in a house of this size.
@@everythingcubed4210 We have super fast broadband sky q broadband package and live in large house too and we get over 60mbps with over 30 upload speeds and not had any problems at all. Also, our router is plugged straight into the master socket. I highly recommended this for faster Internet. Plugging routers into extension phone lines really slows down speeds..
@@vrglcom Yes, we moved it upstairs because it is on the middle floor and because it means we can connect our downstairs TV to ethernet. The reason why we have ethernet is because our skyQ box acts like a booster so we have the same speeds as the router upstairs as we do downstairs. Also the walls in our house are very thick.
Can u help me whis something?

If you would have seen it without music then I expect it would be less entertaining and boring.
