I think the only cards the cost more than a dollar or two now are WANTED and Diabellstar. It’s definitely possible to play only Ash, Poplar (or Birch), and Flamberge, but the combo will be much less consistent

Yeah! Actually the list I’ve been playing at locals has the Azamina engine but still with Flamberge to make use of the link body

There are a bunch of variations, but it’s pretty much what’s in the video: instead of using Ash + Poplar only for Giant, you can use Poplar for Anima and Ash and placed Poplar for Flamberge. Flamberge and Anima for Rabbit (or another link 2), and use Ash + Poplar for Giant after

Could be interesting, but I haven’t looked into it at all. The best use I see is if you Maker on turn 3 for more bodies but don’t want to beat over the FD mimi if you’re unable to get game. Giant also helps with that though.

Loop them how? They only activate in main phase, and return to your field of they resolve.

Wanted (and Diabellstar) function the same as Ash, while conserving your normal summon, which is important for Dragon or Archfiend if you open another Archfiend or Slime to give your opponent. You also get a draw from Wanted and cancel recycle the Diabellstar as a link body or 2500 beater. Bonfire would be better if we played Temple to search off Poplar.

Since we aren’t making the normal SE plays, Birch functions as an extender, where Oak can’t get us anywhere by itself. If you have to start with Poplar, adding Birch of off Ash gives you another body for extension.

I think one of our first test lists was 50 cards with Azamina but no Fiendsmith. 4 extra cards to get the omni/protect from Nibiru (which is a problem). It is tough fitting in all the engines while having enough room for hand traps. Have been theorizing a 60-card pile with everything, though, since the deck already plays very consistently.

​​​@@SmokeBanditsYGO yeah that's the issue, im running 45 only running ash, fuwaloss and imperm. fiendsmith engine is just 2 engraver, 1 lacrima and 1 quickspell. in extra link 1,2 + dies irae also i think 1 room is enough since is searchable every time with SE azamina

1) Since we’re not making regular SE plays, Birch is better as just an extender. If you have to start with normal summon Poplar, you can add Birch off the Ash summon and still have enough bodies to further plays. 2) I think there is some efficacy to Summoning Curse now that we have three more names; however, it stops us from extending our own board because it affects both players. Charm could be viable in a pure build, but I haven’t tested it much.

We’re working on a combo video to share, hopefully by the end of the week! Similarly to how pure SE used to play around Nib, if you open WANTED or Diabellstar and have some form of extension, you can leave Flamberge on board to dissuade your opponent until you have more insulation.

I think those will become the standard ratios. Armor is more for just extension, but it can come up very often now with how many monsters the deck can put up

@@krulcifer.4886 fairy only really comes up turn 0. after that slime is just much better.

@@theap3x329 I see but she is the best extender the deck offers, but also one of the best cards to give your opponent face down. Like if my normal summon dragon gets ashed or veilerd i can extend into giant and atleast get any interaction going.

The deck gets much better. The new Lacrima makes engraver a 1 card starter again, the new goblin biker spell gives more ways to start your plays and dodge targeted negation, and the new monster is infinite recursion. I plan on dropping a combo video before ROTA releases.

@@SmokeBanditsYGO niiice The goblin spell is pretty good too but I don't know what to cut, the fiendsmith level 4 and the memento monster are two more engine cards and I don't want to cut handtraps, 15 is the barely minimum in this format imo

The new level 6 goblin biker is good too if you are playing the spell, it's a free body and a level 6 fiend for Caesar

Yep I’m with you there. It seems like you’ll need to play a second memento goblin and 3 spells. Maybe it’s worth cutting fiendsmith? I’ve seen the performing OCG lists don’t even play fiendsmith. But if you’re playing fiendsmith, you’re probably cutting 1 engraver for Lacrima. You don’t want to play too many fiendsmith engine cards

@@SmokeBanditsYGO probably fiendsmith cards are not as good extenders as the new quickplay goblin spell, but they can start your combo without using your normal summon, the goblin spell requires a monster on your field to tribute. Also Fiendsmith engine is far better as going second to push on boards

Cranium burst is sideable going first, but I wouldn’t main. I used to main the card, but it just felt clunky opening it. Id say side cranium burst if you’re expecting monster-heavy decks that activate on field, and side fracture dance if you’re expecting stun or other back row decks. It all depends on your locals or what meta you expect at your regional/YCS

Feel free to play cranium burst. Dump it off of goblin or creation king and set in the end phase. I personally don’t like playing it, because it does nothing if you don’t get to combined creation. And at that point you’re already in a good spot. IP and SP are both made because that’s what the bodies get you. You can play rabbit instead of IP if you’d like. Lucas Sacco has a video out there going over those combos. I would by no means say the deck is dead. Yeah it feels worse now, along with so many other decks, due to the ban list, but it keeps up.

Rabbit requires a brick to play, and this deck plays enough bricks as it is. IP is only really made as an escape hatch when you get nibbed or put into an awkward board state. You could definitely experiment with rabbit in this slot though. It would make the endboard stronger.

Unfortunately that’s correct. Now the fiendsmith engine isn’t worth playing, and the deck got hit as a result of prosperity going to 1. I’ve been back in the lab trying to make the deck good again, but it isn’t anywhere near as powerful as this version was

@@SmokeBanditsYGO yeah the deck lost a lot, try it with runick no hand traps and 2 durendal I im trying it, super consistent so far and quite good going second

@@SmokeBanditsYGO I have some pretty crazy ideas if you want lol. I run “Bonfire VS” Agnimal and any levek 4 (pantera?) can be Dempsey and you can manage that without a normal summon sometimes. Libromancer, Labrynth too they both have created some menacing plays for me. Libromancer is just the most insane hand filler iv played with it. Sneaky discards through ritual summons too. Lab is also discards if you want, But I just use Big Welcome and Arias. Its a big advantage being able to search the counter trap or monster reborn in VS, And then on opps turn, summon MadLove, and Arias can set your snow devil from hand. So it cant be backrow wiped

It is another synergy with Dungeon. You’re right about not wanting to get rid of a set Mimighoul. An example would be if you get handtrapped going first, opponent starts turn activating a continuous spell, field spell, or summoning a monster, you flip Overroot to get rid of that card and set the handtrap. Doesn’t stop the normal summon unfortunately, if that is their first action, but you still get the benefit of the opponent not being able to attack with the special summoned monsters that turn.

Using supplemental engines can help with consistency. We’re working on a new list we should have out soon!

@@Kenjitheknight gryphon only allows special summoned monsters on the field to activate their effect if they are linked. By putting a mimighoul in the zone your gryphon points to, this locks them from activating effects. It also forbids them from normal summoning because of dungeon
