I MUST BE CRAZY! Saving The Most Rusty Floor!
I haven't seen floors this rusty before but I need to save them.....
I know I can buy this stuff but I've built built every thing (and I mean everything) from scratch. I might as well build the rest. In reality I need to save this floor so I can make patterns for a new floor.

Custom built like a 1950's Hot ROD! I Built this bicycle 10 years ago for a bike build off on Rat Rod Bikes. I found these old photos on my computer and put together this build documenting the project. I purchased this bike from a local collector. When he bought it it had a Whizzer engine conversion on it and the original tires. The first thing I did was swap out the original tires for brand ne...

can you spray this over surface rust?
Nice work Devin. Let the fun begin!
Thank you! I’ve got the toe kicks and braces well underway!
You're lucky you had as much floor as you did. When I did my daughters floor there wasn't any floor to use as a pattern. I ended up using the shape of the carpet. Turned out pretty good for a k car.
Oh that’s pretty creative. And the carpet will definitely fit.
@dadstoygarage1878 necessity is the mother of invention.
Grabbing some Pils and a bag of Old Dutch and watching Dad’s Garage
Nice!
That first bike is a Huffman, precursor to Huffy - Good frame
Good idea with the snips!
Good progress!
Very nice!
This looks really good Devin. The primer roll on worked as good as we expected. One can only understand how much work this is once you’ve done it. Door looks amazing! Yes the 2 shall become one….. but which one is sometimes the challenge!
Thank you Brian! Also thank you for the advice on my questions with this project. It’s very true there are a fair number of hours in the window conversion!
How do you get in to this kind of hobby I have done model car all my life would like to try it but don't know if Oklahoma has a place to do this
33:39 Out of context in some peoples opinion. But as a Christian too, I wish I was more open and less intimidated of persecution and retribution for my beliefs and practices. Keep up the good work both professionally and spiritually. 👍🙏
Totally agree with that. I hope my actions reflect my beliefs as well.
Looks fantastic
Thank you!
That roll bar is basically just resting on the sheet metal of the tub? Tubs look great, but I would not trust it to hold the weight of the car in a roll. Stay safe!
Where did you get the intake from and any specs on it
Thank you so much for documenting this process! I've got to do something similar on my 43. Did you buy the 14 gauge cross pieces pre made or did you get them bent up? If you had them made, they look well done... Would you be willing to share the dimensions? Thanks again
Btw I did the opposite, I sourced some barn doors (bottoms) and top off my ambulance full doors and bolted on hinges to the barn doors to work on my 1978 forty so going topless has a bottom door so supplies, kids, and dog don’t fall out
I can’t wait to see you slice the fronts into half doors! I hope to do that one day, but for know I’ll stay in the UA-cam “planning” phase…. Haha seriously though, I dare you! That’d be awesome to have full doors that convert to half’s for topless mode
I love your second gen charger builds. I have owned a 68 rt and 70 Charger500. I had targeted the same model kit you bought to build a slot car. I can only find it in 1/25th. Is yours actually 1/24th?
That looks really good, you should be proud.👌🏻
Thank you! I’m pretty excited on how it looks!
Devin, I was wondering if you tracked your hours fabricating and building the half-tub? If so, how many hours? If not, what is your estimate of hours spent? Love watching your progress, and your workmanship. Thanks, Ray
Thank you for the compliments. I thought I had tracked my hours last winter when I fabricated the tub. But I must have deleted those notes off my phone. I went pretty hard on it though as I had to make it mobile by the spring. To get the celica back home. My budget is smaller than most builds which has led me to making vs buying. I have saved a lot in material costs by making the parts vs buying. I think I might be $600-$800 Canadian in tub materials not counting labour. I’ve got the actual numbers on my laptop. But as far as hours for tub fab I find it feels like work instead of play when I count hours 🤪. Tony and I occasionally discussed building these 40s for clients full time (pipe dream) We thought 3-4 stock 40s a year could be possible biased on the hours I had recorded. That’s 1-2 guys. The plus though I’ve saved all my patterns so that no longer would need to be done. Thanks again for following along on the build.
I like how methodical you are in your plans and execution. It’s turning out predictably well.
Thank you!
Saw some of it on facebook/Instagram?
I said it before and I will say it again. Your metal work is fantastic. Can't wait for the next episode 👍
Thank you! just starting editing part 2 of these doors!
Sweet car! Wish we had a club in st louis
Thank you. It was a good time for sure. I think our local club is not racing any more.
Hey man, I’ve had the same seat covers in my 94’ NA for a little over a year now and I’ve always wondered: How do you get the “flaps” for the sides of the upper section of the seat to stay? Like, they tuck in to the crack between the middle part of the seat, but how did you keep them from coming undone? Sewing, perhaps? Thanks!
I don't remember exactly the steps I took any more. But I use hog rings to keep everything tight. A good tip an upholster gave me was to take lots of photos of disassembly. I also mark on the old seat covers and the foam padding the covers go on to with sharpie where ever a hog ring was originally installed so I can put a hog ring back in the same location.
Nice work Devin! I like how you imagine what you like and then turn it into reality, even with tooling. Cheers to hitting 4K!
Thank you Brian! Also thanks for the advice on this project over the phone the other day.
First! And now that I watched the episode, this is a great idea and an even better result.
Nice!
Somehow I missed the second half of your comment 🤦♂️. Thank you for the compliments.
Wow🎉😮 looks amazing 🤩 iseen video 1
Thank you, Thanks for checking out the mini build series on the custom trunk!
Celica?
It started out as 1 1972 celica. Its heavily modified now.
Very nice build!👍🏽👍🏽
Thank You! I have a final video coming out on it yet with some 3DV goodness and a great colour scheme!
Very nice! I love seeing how this kind of custom stuff is made. I am planning on doing something with the trunk of my car but still getting inspiration and ideas from videos like this! Now if only we can get you to pronounce Celica the right way! 😂 Instead of "Suhleekuh", we pronounce it "Selluhkuh". 😛
Thank you! What car are you planning on doing the trunk work to? a Celica as well?
@ no, I plan on doing something in my 2017 Mustang GT. Trying to decide what I want to do because it’s on an air ride system and I really want it to look nice at shows. When I went to shows in the past I wouldn’t open the trunk because it’s awful! 🤣 Wires and a fuse panel and wireless switches for all my LED lighting are everywhere. I just picked up a central control panel where I can run all the wiring to and can control everything from that panel. That will clean up the trunk so I can make it nice back there.
@ cool. Probably be able to work those air tanks into the design too !
Coming along nicely 👍
Thank you!
Saw a gray one this morning strapped to a flat bed. Looked pristine. Took a pic but not know how to send it.
@ hey that’s cool. I’m on Manitoba Land Cruisers on Facebook You could share it on there. I’ll see it for sure there.
👍
I gave it a comment on the face book group! and its perfect my dream 40 series
Did you score all the folds that you 90 over on the bottom of panel? Thanks.
I believe I did just the curved 90's to help them take the bends where I wanted to be. The straight 90s were done on the table and clamped tight and hammered over the edge of the bench. I would not score thinner 18 gauge though.
Very good panels you built Devin. That will be a sweet ride. I’m seeing some of these videos in reverse sequence. For whatever UA-cam hasn’t been sending out notifications.
Thank you Brian! I find that to that UA-cam doesn’t reliably recommend the videos I’m wanting to see. Even new channels that I’ve discovered recently I’m thinking those guys channels are awesome how come UA-cam hasn’t shown me sooner!
Great episode Devin! A TON of work all coming together. Can you tell me what the name of that .23 wire?
Thank you! Defiantly a lot of work probably 1-2 months of weekends. I believe the brand is called Forney. I'm using mig with shielding gas
Just Subbed, my landcruiser needs a ton of rust repair 😆 🤣 well and the diesel engine to be rebuilt 😆
I just went over to your channel and gave you a sub as well. Im going to watch through your fj40 videos. also great to have you join the Facebook group.
Nice to see some progress on the old Yota! Nice work Devin.
Thank you Brian!
Looks great. Well done
Thank you very much!
Hi is this the last episode?
it is the latest episode on that car. I'm waiting on the cylinder head work to be completed so I can finish assembling the engine for it. hopefully driving it early summer.
Super cool. I live these old bikes.
thank you! Hopefully I can bring the final video on this build to the channel soon!
Love when a young man takes a good challenging project and see it successfully finish project!! ❤
thank you!
Awesome progress! 👍
Thank you
those are some excellent results, keep the Land Cruiser content coming!
Thank you! I’ll definitely have more Land Cruiser videos coming!
Good work !
Thank you!
Nice to see the work on your 40 again. I’m doing the same a little more north of you, on #44.
Nice what year fj40? North of wpg?
@ ‘75 with discs on the front. I’m on the North side of Birds Hill Park. I wish I made my rear quarters the way you did…
@@henryfast7300 I’m always excited to meet another 40 series owner close to home. Maybe at some point I’ll be able to check out yours in person.
I just created a Facebook group called “Manitoba Land Cruiser”. Feel free to check it out.
