When Kristyn graduated from High School I was over-served by a neighbor with Margaritas. I said at that time, "If you make the Dean's List for your freshman year at SMU, I'll buy you any car you want." I know, I know. Well, she did it. Watch this!
New Walther CCP take-down tool

The plastic take-down tool that shipped with my Walter CCP a year or so ago wore out. Walther sent me a new one and it's soooooo much better!
The best IBM internal presentation - EVER!
Переглядів 4 тис.8 років тому
‘Way back in the late 70s, when small computers for business hardly existed, the IBM Corporation took notice and funded two projects, more-or-less at the same time. The first was the System/23 Datamaster. This was a desktop computer aimed at the small business market. It was a follow-on to the IBM 5100 and IBM 5110, small scientific computers that the IBM sales force (literally) “forced” into t...

My good friend Bill Latta's older brother , Phil, was on this DXpedition. Bill recently passed away at the ripe old age of 103, but he got much enjoying reading about this adventure.
I once had the very 1st album by The Freshmen. Sadly, like Judas, I sold it to a collector. This song was on side 1, & was, simply, gorgeous.
COOL 😎
No cRap music here....no cursing, or auto-tune necessary....
@@chazcone9669 You're very kind...Have a great weekend!
That old lady in blue walks out on their greatest song
I'm so thankful I came along when the 4 Freshmen came along. What a beautiful ride it has been with them....Loved you guys then and now...
I was in high school in Southeast Missouri in the late 50's, and my older sister was in college when the Four Freshmen played there. I was her date to the concert. A big Thank You to my sister for taking me to a fantastic concert. I have been a fan of theirs ever since!
These days, get a group of four mundane singers and they call themselves a band. These guys really were a band.
I've adored them all my life.
Love them!!❤❤❤
Not bad, but I miss group 22 and 23. Thank goodness Bob is still to lead the group.
This groups deserves the attention of the crowd. You don't come to a concert and run your mouth like that one woman in front. Very disrespectful.
Still kickin' it------ they really are this good ! Followed the FF since 1976-----straight ahead in your face music.
Are these new songs they just wrote?
Thanks Chaz keep them coming
Is this the latest incarnation? Hard to judge not greatest recording
I love group#27. It has become wonderfully beautiful.I'm expecting more and more.
Wish it just cut straight to the music :) 50 seconds to skip my banter folks :)
I could have edited that out, but hopefully someone(s) will learn about the Four Freshmen Society and join us! fourfreshmensociety.com :)
The bloodsuckers at Walther want $10 for the tool, and an additional $10 just to mail it -- for a total of $20 for a product needed to replace the faulty tool included with the original gun purchase. I'd be willing, in a pinch, to pay $10 for an improved tool, but not $10 for what costs about $0.75 to mail.
That is crap! Should be free and free shipping. Mine was but I was an early complainer. Take it up the line?
Excalate. You might find a reasonable human being...
I disagree. I believe the Freshmen were singers, who also played instruments.
One fantastic video keeps getting put up then taken down... Four Freshmen at the Tokyo Blue Note 1994. What could POSSIBLY be the value in keeping this concert from being available???? JERKS for taking it down. I met the (then) current group 7 years ago in West Virginia. Have always been a great fan... but the singular best performance (in my view) is kept private. Ferreira is a great guy. Though they were rather in a hurry to start off to their next gig, they took the time to meet my wife and me after the concert.
I just ordered this as my side arm for airsoft can't wait to get it, I love compact side arms i thought it was especially cool that they built the airsoft model with the 7 round mag handle I think they are the most comfortable for the real pps m2
This guy sounds like he should be announcing a baseball game instead of reviewing BB guns.
Oh, man! This guy is just brilliant! Such confidence..!
Not bad... I still like the Sting version better.
Mike is the Magic Man with the plan on the Magic Band...great Mentor!!!!!
I am an Indonesian who loves anything vocal harmony, and lately I have been listening to The Four Freshmen - what amazing and impeccable musicianship these men have! Not to mention that the great Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys (one of my all-time favorite bands) has always seen The Four Freshmen as a huge influence - more reasons to love them!
Really amazing video, and a great artifact to see some of the birth of "user friendly" computing. I want a Datamaster now!
Chaz, this is super awesome (and super funny at the same time)! I've been with IBM 20 years (18 with GBS and iX, and the last couple within the CIO - CIO Design team). This is what we do (what I've been doing for over 30 years now). Really interesting that you were able to make the case for a 90k lab back in the early 80s! Funny how we almost take usability for granted (it's table stakes nowadays), but wow, this was revolutionary back then! I came from an Industrial Design background where it was much more expected and prevalent (and was at Ga Tech when you were making this presentation!). And funny that the PC ended up being the Datamaster-killer anyway, but wow, revolutionary stuff here! Love that you kept going back to "ease of use"! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words, Jim. I graduated Ga Tech in 1961 on June 10th and went to work for IBM on Monday. When I left in 1983 it wasn't the IBM I grew up in.
Ohhh lordy, floppy disc destruction
Ooooooo sassing Georgia!
This video was very ...er.. entertaining. Have you got any more like this. I am especially interested in this machine as it was kinda the predecessor to the IBM PC. I used to work for an IBM dealer in the UK in the 1980's. Watch your number of views for this video, as you are going to find that they are going to do up, very very sharply!
@@chazcone9669 I think the datamaster could do with a little loving.... I remember seeing a Microsoft Usability lab presentation when I work for a PC dealership. I really liked your presentation style, and hope you do many more videos. The IBM way, would be a great theme... kinda.
Yes, you’re right, Chris.
Wow. This is a tremendous insight into how systems fail, or how you make them work. Its about Attention to detail. Taking nothing for granted. Making no assumptions about products or systems. @17:10 This is where it gets interesting. I see this video and i have to wonder if there is this same attention to the ways our systems are used. In a sense its about the difference between Theory and Practice. These days systems will fail and no one will have a clue that they have failed, let alone understand why. This vid takes you back to basics.
Thank you for sharing this! I've watched it several times and love how you presented these technical concepts. It supports the idea that many problems with software and computing is really a problem with framing concepts. By changing the context of the problem you can make complicated issues become understandable. Even though the datamaster is obsolete, this presentation still offers lessons we could learn from in the software industry today. What good is software is nobody wants to use it?
Thanks for the kind words Leif. Someone said, "Interface is all". I agree with that! Chaz
No autotune here...fantastic!
The Datamaster/System/23 was probably one of the worse pigs that IBM ever put out. It's 51TD 8-1/2 floppy drives were crap, I had many customers that bought them and they all experienced the same errors with the diskette drives. I had 2 customers that ended up suing IBM.
Yep. When we were doing the software for it I had to make presentation to the Division Director on our progress. I characterized our mission as building a "silver saddle for a pig". That, curiously, did NOT end my career. I guess the truth is the best defense.
Agreed. All my time in Boca Raton was spent trying to kill Datamaster. The PC was being designed two buildings over and was going to be the clear winner - but no one wanted to gore the Datamaster ox.
