Great documentary. The Atari 5200 didn't look like a push forward when it was released because it was just the 1979 Atari 400 chipset re-packaged. Atari should have released it back in 1981 but were afraid to lose sales of the Atari 2600 (not sure what the logic in that decision was). ColecoVision was a great console; the SG-1000 was 99% the same machine. The MSX1 was also very similar to the ColecoVision chipset. Then there's the Amiga which is essentially an amped up Atari 400/800. Amazing how this stuff all seems to tie together.

Bugs me this "video game crash" myth. This was solely an American thing, in Europe we carried on with 8 bit micros, hell I'd anything it was the heyday of game development creating Rare, EA, Codemasters and many other developers still around today.

Notes from a Gen 2 nerd: - The Astrocade is mainly notable for its community at the time! You could program in basic on it, and people distributed games in basic and assembly through users clubs. - The Atari 2600 was 4 player. There were 2 paddles per port, so you could connect 4, and it was used in many games. I think a number of gen 1 consoles also had 4 players. - 18:49 that's a starpath supercharger. It allows you to run cassette games on your Atari 2600. It was bought by Arcadia and called the Arcadia supercharger later. You continue showing Starpath supercharger footage, and cite the 18 games for it, but no Atari module for the Arcadia 2001 ever came out, so you must be confused with the Coleco's Atari module, which you even show later on.

Yeah, Nintendo didn't just go mobile Nintendo won or at least they're going to. They're real close to having the highest selling console of all time, and if you actually do the research and add all the numbers for every nintendo console sold, they actually have sold more than Sony. And that's only counting from 94 to present times. I don't know if we count all the systems Nintendo has created before 1994 nintendo surely has won. But i'm just trying to make it fair. And this from someone who is not a fan boy. I have a PS5 I have a switch oled. I have a ps three I have a Wiiu And i've had every xbox system, there is. You make it sound like Sony won. And that is actually furthest from the truth.

Nintendo destroyed the competition with ease. XBOX & PS5 are both garbage and they have almost no good games at all. You don't have to waste 3 hours of your life watching this video. I just told you what you needed to know. By the way PS5 has signal transmission issues with it's wireless controller missing inputs and delayed inputs. I tested it my self on various ps5 units. Xbox just stands on stage and lies to their supporters about the games that they are never going to make.

i rushed through and finished vectorman because it had "good reviews" but it wasnt my thing. theres a lot of games out there like this one that i missed on when they were big and went back just to see what the fuzz was about. but maybe it was too late; and i didnt enjoy them as much...(spyro, banjo kazoie, altered-beast, 007. etc)

This must have taken an insane amount of effort, great job. You made at least a couple of mistakes, though. The N64 Expansion Pak was only packed in with Donkey Kong 64, it's clearly marked as 'SOLD SEPARATELY' on all other titles that require it. And since you had just implied that there were no FMVs on N64 before talking about the port of Resident Evil 2, it should be mentioned that Capcom had to develop its own compression algorithm- as well as using a 64MB cartridge- to cram the FMVs in anyway.

Looking back with the info i know now i was at the time nintendo over sega and i was wrong. Neo Geo was superior to both.
