The vehicle you verbally identify as WHCA and caption as tactical counter assault team 1 is actually the electronic counter measures vehicle, used for barrage jamming, etc. The F-550 you identify as tactical support and recovery is the Hazardous Agent Mitigation Medical Response vehicle (HAMMER).

planetcast -- I appreciate you posted the video, I like seeing secret service videos. Something that seems odd to me about what you said though. You mentioned a "decoy" limo, I understand that and knew about that. What doesn't seem to make sense to me is that you say it is "alway" the second car. That doesn't make sense to me because what good is have an identical limo to make an attack more difficult if the attackers know it will also be the second one? Why do you say the limo carrying the president is always the second one?

LoL you may be right, but there is a reason why they have all that security. I was watching a documentary on Lincoln who was riding a horse to work one morning as he usually did (ALONE) and some guy had lay an ambush for him with a rifle. It didn't work.

The President is the leader of the friggin' free world. Any terrorist organization or outraged individual or country in the world could instantly gain a huge voice by attacking him. His position is easy to come by what with journalists all around him, making guessing his route easy. He'd be dead if he didn't travel with all that protection.

@BVISHable In case nuclear weapons need to be launched while the president is on the road. The president is the only one who can order a launch. He needs access if he's one the road.

Vials of the president's blood are actually kept in "The Beast" -- the president's vehicle. The "football" -- bag containing the launch codes -- are carried by the president's military escort. There are two spares: One with the VP and one at the White House. The president doesn't wait in traffic b/c it'd be a security risk to stay in one place too long in traffic.

I think the president should have to wait in traffic like the rest of us. He can have all the USSS and protection he wants, but is he always in such a hurry he needs 15 police cars to run him through red lights?

I can guarantee the Nuclear Launch codes are not in that one SUV. Those are more valuable than the President's life...

We saw this going through Iowa yesterday, it was the same except there was a lot of local Iowa police instead of NYPD. When he stopped they kept the entire road through the city blocked off and cleared in both directions so that they could get out quick in either direction if needed. People could not even be by the road, they wanted it totally clear.

@PhaseDMA Those are NYPD Dodge Chargers of the Highway Patrol. That thing you are referring to can be raised and illuminated to warn drivers at a distance of a brokendown vehicle on the highway.

Those plain black crown vics in the clip from 0:22 - 0:28 are pretty sweet. I'd really like to have my 98 P71 Crown Vic repainted to black instead of the brown it's in from the days when it was a county sheriff's department patrol car.

@bloodhoun138 Why wouldn't you? It's not like anyone can launch them just with the football. They sort of need to call the Pentagon first to get the second set of codes. And even if you did get the codes, and you did call the Pentagon they don't tend to send a SWAT team to your house instead of launching nukes unless you are the President.
