Where can I still find one of these lightbar mounts so I can set my Golight Stryker spotlights on the far exteriors so they reach around rails on the top of my surveillance truck?
Love the clear indication of a buckeye exhaust whistle at 2:00.
I would like to know if a cause for the initial fire was ever established?
Pairpoint Glass Mill slated for demolition urban renewal. Fire started by scrapers cutting live gas pipe with torch.
I was 10 years old. The busses stoped running.. I walked through the fire to get home.
At 3:38 right after the Officer picks up the radio handset, you can see the camera man for the production company riding on the roof of the rig.
This was back when the administration had a budget and gave a damn about their men, not like it is now!!!
Love to see where we’ve come from in the fire service as I am almost ready to retire and a new batch of dedicated firefighters will tow the line.
What was the difference between an engine and a pumper at that time?
Awesome thanks
Had no idea Popeyes had been around that long
Interesting no one back then had turnout gear.
First comment on this video. Just sayin’…
I drove down bellflower st recently and the same 3 Deckers are still there I would have thought they would have been razed and the area would look a lot different it seems like I was there the day before the fire only the cars look different this could probably happen again
What do they mean the last of these 3 Deckers were built in 1917 since the arson waves of the 80's and gentrification all over Boston I have seen several brand new3 Deckers built on all the vacant lots need more information why are they being built if fire codes do not permit them anymore by the way I even seen a couple of the new ones fire damaged the new ones burn just as briskly
the ones in the film, at the time (1964)
I’m surprised that rescue rig could move, there was some massive balls on that rig 😂. Back then you had to have your nuts screwed on tight. What a cool video, those gentlemen certainly paved the way along with the ones before them.
Mid-town Mob. Engine 65.
Lol. The officer would wear a white shirt and a tie.
Can someone explain something? I've heard for years how Boston has been an expensive city to live in? If so why was the FD underfunded and what about the BPD?
It wasn’t expensive back then
Can thank Mayor Coleman Young and his grift for running Detroit into the ground from 74 to 94. Pretty much did away with everything seen in this video. They couldnt even supply guys with gloves up to a few years ago, let alone have a fully stocked storeroom.
Wonderful
Jeez got enough PowerPoint transitions there
Was getting a haircut in East Cambridge when this fire Broke out. I was 15 years old
That was one wickedly windy day! Sure didn’t help things.
Still 2 volley companies in Staten Island
No fitted demo?
Incredible video! Thanks
Great footage.
Open cabs in Detroit, in winter. YIKES!
Ah yes. The days of bells. You had to count the bells constantly.
Love them old seagraves
I been down this street some of these structures still exist and contrary to the last of these built in 1919 new ones are being built all over the city on vacant lots where previously destroyed 3 Deckers once stood
That’s Mayor LaGuardia surveying the fire and victims. One of the best mayors. He was a fire buff too!
Do they have any more film on the fdny the war years please let me know when thanks
Looks like a middle school science project. Participation ribbon awarded.
That is likely part of Washington Market, part of which was on Duane Street (correct spelling).
I miss them old fire trucks like pirsch
I wish they had the fdny war years
@1:19 Love the guy pulling his boots up. Makes me think of the guys you see now just outside the door rushing to get their face masks on.
Fires like these multi-borough alarms are the reason FDNY bought the Super Pumper System and its Satellites in 1965 from Mack.
Gettin Salty Experience
If you go to their channel on here and look through the war years videos submitted by LT Sarno from 283 engine, this job is in one of the four.
In the Los Angeles City FD we still use wooden ladders and the shops still repaired them.
Always had the back door open on the rescue, still to this day.
What town was this?

I like your light bar
MOVE ON. SAVE TIME. An amazing story that is very poorly done here. Nothing but low-budget content development with stock images and nonsense. No robot voice, thank you. Please, you can do a LOT better.
Thank,! Scorsese! Hysterical!
I was 14 when my Dad took me to view the aftermath
Me too, I was 10, from Somerville. Don't you hate these pieces that are just nonsense? You should speak up about the quality of the content, no?
Many of these barn fires were, and even are today, caused by hay w/a high moisture content then igniting by simultaneous combustion. Lightning also is sometimes the culprit.
That creosote in those railroad ties burned extremely hot and was a carcinogen to boot! But of course they didn't know about the cancer causing part.
