I think I’m missing something. Do you have a link to any of the videos? What is the original one from eight years ago? Thanks
amazing story
So pleased you are getting noticed, well deserved, some, sorry most of which is fantastic content. Still think the curves video from 2016 is one of the greatest on this platform and lost count on how many times ive watched it, but so many good videos. And its amusing, I picked up a Land Rover magazine from a few years back, low and behold, guess who I found in it - yep, you and your partner and the amazing Range Rover Keep up the amazing work
I watched this Video countless times. Love to hear the background Story.
Great story, thanks for sharing it with us 👍You are a lucky man being invited to shoot those scenes!
algo brought me here, but real nice story and an epic shot. thanks for sharing ~
Early days of this, the algorithm is my only hope. 😅
Every video you make inspires me a little more! (And also gives me strength to reach my first Porsche). Thank you, David! Greetings from Argentina!
thx, go go!
Wow amazing... greetings from Brazil
Well done, David!
Me ha encantado ver y saber lo que hay "detrás de cámaras", solo me ha quedado descubrir cómo obtienes el sonido de por ejemplo el motor del coche en marcha. Muchas gracias, gran canal.
You need to do more behind the scenes stuff buddy. Get into more of the nitty gritty. Also what was it about the Sony stuff you did not like over the bmpcc?
Good to know, just getting started. I'll see where most interest is and decide my topics based on that - including the Sony vs Blackmagic thing that many would disagree on.
@davidsteca I have been rocking the og bmpcc from day one with a ziess 28mm and 50 mm. However the Helios 44m is another story. You need to use it with a metabones speed booster. And maybe slap on a .7 wide angle adapter on the front. That may bring it near to a 45 mm focal length. But the picture you produce natively with a rec 709 is very hard to beat. Have you tried the Helios 44 with the bmpcc?
@ - have never used a Helios. For these Petrolicious films we used Contax Zeiss 28/35/50 (EF converted) with a Metabones XL (on the 4K) or natively on the 6K. The driving shots on this one were a 12-60 Leica-Panasonic MFT on the Micro 4K G2, rigging shots on a Laowa 6mm MFT. A mix of what we had and could make work.
@@davidsteca I have and used the Zeiss. I bought the Helios for £32.00 off eBay and have never looked back. Bang for buck nothing touches it for that vintage cinema look. It's magic in a lens and it's a Bokeh Beast. They used the Helios rehoused in the last batman movie and in the last Dune movie. Google Iron glass.
@@davidsteca You can pick up a Helios 44m for £30.00 like I did. It has more cinematic sparkle than the Zeiss and it's a Bokeh Beast in the right lighting and background conditions.Very cinematic. Once you try it you will not be able to put it back down.
This is so cool dude
Thanks for sharing your insight. Love your new series of films!
I do watch petrolicious videos frequently and I can say that you do your work very passionately.👍👍
I have a new Brightin star 35 mm F0 .95 lens which I just got a few days ago. It is sharp even at the widest aperture and the aperture has 12 blades so every aperture has rounded boleh balls in the distance, no more the septagon and hexagons in the background. This lens only sells for $200 American. It’s a 12 element lens so very highly corrected, it has flaws but in low light and also black and white is where its strength is. There is some colour flinging and flare that you have to deal with but for $200 no problem Thanks for sharing this video. These lenses are joy to use. It’s neat to be able to stop down to F1.4.😆
That's an S35 lens, right?
It’s an APS-C lens, but it’s not made by Nikon. are you thinking of the Nikon S 35 1.8?
Amazing work, David. It humbles my one-man-band attempts with 5 action cameras attached to my car at once!
More cameras is not always helpful - learned that the hard way myself. 😂
@ LOL - true, I’m sure. But when you’re tearing up a narrow mountain pass and the light is great, it’s nice to get all the shots in one go, synced with audio in post, and switch between them as you run from corner to corner. And some of the shots I’ve pulled from the DJI Action Pros and Insta360 GO 3S are surprisingly good! I’m sure over time I’ll simplify things a bit.
Petrolicious is one and only chanel, that inspired me to shoot content. Exactly the thing every petrolhead neds to see in the way it is suposed to look. Lets go man, I am following.
You made those?! They are amazing! So glad I came across your channel. Subbed and please keep sharing the BTS! Love your work!
Holy shit, Turns out, I've been enjoying loads of your stuff for years without knowing that you had a hand in it. OARA, Petrolicious, the Porsche stuff etc. Some of these videos sent me on the path of loving cars the way I do now, thank you.
Thank you!
Petrolicious desperately needs you. Happy that it is going back to its roots.
Nicely done David. As always.
Awesome to have gotten a "proper" Petrolicious video after quite some time. Thank you! Amazing work! And then seeing the car and thinking "wait a minute, I already sat in that one!" was even better. Patrick bought the remains of my old 944, sold me my current one and was my go to used parts supplier for many years - and is a cool dude while doing all that.
Loved the film, and this context video is great! Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely loved that clip, not surprised it is your work. Please, please, please keep them coming!
I always loved the Petrolicious videos, good to have you back.
I had absolutely no idea you were behind the camera on the OG petrolicious videos! I loved your OARA content, subscribed to this new channel!
And now you know why I had to switch it up - too few people knew what I actually did and hobbies need funding!
@@davidstecapetrolicious desperately needs you. Glad they are reverting back to its roots
Cool
i have a ttartisan 35mm f/0.95. it is ridiculous, not even decently sharp at f/11
😂 true
What happened to the old channel? Great new start though!
OARA is based around what I do with my cars, not what I do professionally. So one is a hobby, this is (at least somewhat) marketing.
Love the new content and to see your back posting on UA-cam ❤
Thank you! We'll see where this is going.
Wow! I discovered Welshly Arms from that film and have been a fan since. I didn’t know that was you lol. I’ve watched it several times.
It's great that I've stumbled upon this as I've been thinking of trying one. I shoot portraiture and offer film photography packages, so I'm used to manual lenses.
Missing focus is part of the game with this one. The controls are really smooth though, which is nice!
@davidsteca definitely not one for moving targets
Thanks for sharing this great insight!
Fascinating! Thanks for showcasing this.
As a vivid 911 addict It sure was that song:" Lengendary" that did the trick for me. That compared with the excellent shots and the occasionally filled in exhaust sound/door clicking sound. That guitar solo (at 3:00) gave me chills while watching great (911) shots. THANKS for making that short film! It did gave me so much inspiration for good road trips. Keep those films coming please.
Love that pictures!
Hallo David! Danke für den authentischen (offenen) Beitrag und deine genialen Aufnahmen auf dem Porsche Gipfeltreffen 2024 / schaue ich mir mehr als ein Mal an! Hoffentlich bis bald mal wieder auf den Pässen ...
One of my favorite car video ever - watched it over and over - a truly great film! - David congratulations - you deserve all the praise you get these were amazing films and I have employed many a filmmaker - Stefan has a lot to be thankful to you for - for me and many others it put Curves on the map - PS I also bought lots of Stefans books off the back of this film - so he also did well out of it too.... 😃
Please consider linking your overlanding channel in your bio and vice versa
Algorithm brought me here? I believe I know you from your overlanding channel with a Land Rover and Porsche. Yes?
Yeah - @onlyaroadtripaway. I realized I need to split work and personal projects. ✌🏼
@ - need to catch up on the those episodes. ✌🏼
Holy crap, didn't know it was you who filmed this, possibly the best car clip of all time on you tube, totally epic and brilliant. I also follow your other channels which are great. Did you ever sell the white 924?
Thanks! And yes, the 24S sold, but I am working on a replacement. Parts of that coming to the other channel. ✌🏼
@ pleased you sold, not surprised it went, cool car
Da!
Oh wow! I LOVE this film! It was, and still is, one of my most re-watched films on UA-cam. It also inspired me to do a similar trip, in a 911, in 2019 - which I filmed (it can be found on the channel for this comment). The filming was me experimenting with a change of career, which I did three years later. Thank you for now sharing this story David, and congratulations on your journey 👏
Thank you and congrats David! Good story and very authentic. The CURVES videos help us to survive the long hibernation periods in Europe... You know I like your work very much, like our endeavours at Großglockner or Gotthard. Stay tuned for more.
Great video and message! You never know where saying "yes" will lead. Glad it worked out great for you!
loved it David. Inspirational
Nice! Thanks for sharing your story and I couldn't agree more to your words.
I love this video David and also that Porsche 911 driving video on the Mountain road in Germany its was so beautiful as hell. Also if i had alots of money or even if i have a driver license i would buy and drive my favourite beloved Porsche is the Porsche 911 930 turbo its is my only favourite Porsche cars i ever liked or sometime i like the 959, also i little know about the Porsche 911 was racing on Sports cars racing category in 1970s and 1980s, but for me i very known the Porsche 911 is very known famous as the widebody kit called RWB by Akira Nakai he is the man founder of RWB and become a most famous widebody kit for Porsche cars in around the world.
Money no object I'd have a 959. White on white, with All Terrains and a roof rack.
@davidsteca Wow that is so very cool that you have Porsche 959 also did you know that the Porsche 959 was racing on Dakar rally event in 1980s driven by the Legend Belgian F1 driver name Jacky Icx who is driving the Porsche 959 and won the Dakar rally and also the 959 did race on Le mans track as well its was run very good on the track but I am not sure the Porsche 959 did win the le mans or not because i don't learn much about the Porsche 959 I will try to read it on wiki. Also I love classic cars alot more than money because the money is bloody evil to me.
