Well I bought this deck awhile ago. Put it aside. Hadn't seen any reviews, but I was attracted by it's cultural significance in my life and thus, it entered my collection. Decided to take a closer look today then check reviews. As you pointed out I was snagged by the lush artwork and the concept. At first I didn't realize I had purchased an oracle because there are SO MANY CARDS and genres and themes. This deck has an identity crisis. But it seems to want to ride the wave of interest in "melanated" decks - which I love, but what offends me about this project is-the shabby research that doesn't serve the spiritual aspects of cannabis culture well. But it's useful. You can create many decks - enjoy. Do whatever it takes to hear your innermost. BTW your rant could apply to decks about any marginalized cultural practice from gluttony to terrorism- to me tarot is engaging real life through the metaphysics of imagery.

I love the book and the deck. I typed all the text from her website when I got the deck and made my own big book of it back then. The symbols described and the spreads for the majors are extra now. Thank you for the lovely video and happy late birthday wishes.

I’m totally sold on buying this book 😅😂❤ So I looked in the indie book. Lots of similarities. Some tarot spreads, questions for each card ( looks like there might be more questions in the indie book) extensive meaning as well as meanings from her social media for each card too ( social media with their own spin on the meaning) This book is 296 pages but half the height as that. The book you have looks like a great extension to this that I obviously NEED 😂❤ Thank you for the walk through. ( I’ll show you the indie version when we chat next 💗)

oh my gosh I just pulled out my Light Seers deck about six weeks ago and fell totally in love with it again. I had no idea this book was even a thing. It feels like kismet! I am going to order it IMMEDIATELY.

Thanks for reviewing the book 😊! I've been on/off about the deck for ages. I love the Muse Tarot as it's energy feels more introverted. LS feels very extroverted and relationship-heavy. But... now that there's a book I can use to scry into the head of the creator, I can move beyond my untangible feelings. I'm quite interested to find out what it is exactly about this deck that I feel both pulling me in and pushing me away. I wish there was also a similar GB for the Muse Tarot. I know the poems are online on a website but I'd love to have them on a physical book.

I’m the same - I got this book yesterday and I think it will rekindle the love I had for this deck especially this book explains why author decide to create the deck the way it was. I get it we can use it intuitively - but now it makes more sense with some cards - where I was thinking why she did this or that

I know it it’s late to reply but I really enjoyed Marion Webb-desisto’s ‘Crystal skull’s book ,it’s half stories and half workbook including exercises to cleanse and work with your skulls,guidance on choosing (or being chosen by🙂) a skull,meditations and healing exercises. I love crystals and collect them including quite a number of lovely skulls.

Thank you for interviewing Aminat and showing this deck in-depth. It is really wonderful to see this deck exists! I will be ordering it. I would like to say a bit about the topic of "appropriation" since folks have brought it up here even though it was not the focus. There is a difference between seeking help, getting guidance and using the medicine for healing from the sacred wisdom of a tradition that was birthed into the world by a specific ethnic group, than someone who wants to become initiated its secrets, then become "experts" and "teachers" of this... usually for their own financial gain. A true healer would never refuse anyone coming to them for help. That isn't an invitation to become immersed into the spiritual culture and then changing the face of it to fit their particular audience of clients.

I’ll have to send you a copy of that Lovers card. The horse from the 8 of Wands is the Flying Horse of Gansu. I believe it was found in a Chinese tomb. And I’m so glad you love the 6 of Cups! I think of my dad whenever I see it, because of the praying boy in his little suit. He looks just like old photos of my Irish Catholic dad when he was a boy. 😄

Thanks for this review. I recently bought this deck and wholeheartedly agree that the cardstock is not a deal breaker in this instance! Great concept and guidebook! The companion workbook by Isha Lerner is also very good- bought that one also. Totally recommended! 🎉

11:09 exactly Martyn! Every deck cannot be all things to all people. There are always those decks that will not resonate for us, because they are not for or about us. Do I think we need more inclusiveness/representation in decks? Yes! But we need to stop telling other people what to do with their own art. It’s their choice. I personally love drawing diverse humans. In art college we drew diverse models and it was so enjoyable, I began to organically include everyone in my art when I created characters. But I don’t expect that from every artist. If it doesn’t resonate, just don’t buy it.
