I follow your Instagram account, I hope one day you make a tutorial. And I hope the videos you upload can be downloaded so that people like me can watch it offline 😊😊
Have you checked the patreon? ;) Btw if you want to download them just search for a youtube mp4 converter and copy the link of the video
@@dailystudies1 i don't have patreon and thanks to give me a permission 😁
wow this video is really good and i can see your effort into making this video as good as possible, maybe you can show us how we can go about studying or how you do your brush strokes i wanna see more instructional videos from you lol
many thanks sir :) brushstrokes and stuff like that isn't important, it's the form, what interests me is the substance, the idea behind making studies and things like it, you can join my discord if you want :)
Hey ive seen some of your art and i had this question about references and how to select the good ones cause i know that if a reference is bad it ruins the whole peice
don't use the same as others, best way to do it is to look at references of your own references
Hi! What shortcut do you use to go to gray gamma 2.2?
Ctrl + y, but you have to select this option in the windows above. I think it's in "color parameters"
Thank you! If anyone has the same question as me, you can solve it here: View > Proof setup > Custom > Device to simulate: Gray Gamma 2.2 > Ok Edit > Keyboard shortcuts > View > Proof color > Ctrl+Y
Good Soundtrack choice!
ehe thanks
gorgeous study 🤍
thanks :)
You have no talent. If you had any talent you would not be relying on technology to do any of the work. Do all of these dailies without any technology. Lol.
This actually motivated me to do this for myself, especially since I already love art history. My ADHD can make it tough sometimes to hold down a routine, but even if the study doesn’t come out the way I wanted it to, I still wanna try this. Also great advice on not drawing during the weekends, that’s something I also need to follow 😅 Thanks for the great video! I’ll definitely check out more of your stuff!
thanks for all :))
found the hidden gem
lucky you ;))
thank you!
you're welcome :)
Wow😮
:)
the ending is gold, seeing all history & knowledge of art in one Craig Mullins painting. very true thats why its so rich
many thanks sir :)
Great tutorial dude!
Thanks bro!
Salut tu aurais pas des sites ou quelque chose a conseiller pour trouver des bonnes refs parce que pinterest c'est tout ce que je connais et c'est pas bien... s'il te plait
amazing stuff keep going valentin
ehe thanks sir
thanks
😊
i can only imagine how many hours of practice it took you to reach this level! So inspiring💘
Ahaha not enough to reach what I would like to achieve
You are tooooo good.. can you start teaching..!!! Pleaseeeee
Ahaha thank you, I'm gonna open a discord Wednesday, and it will include a link to a patreon, giving you a monthly feedback/paint over/lesson session :)
Luv it
thanks :)
This is so great :) May I ask where you got the diffuse clay texture from? The one at 27:42
ahaha I knew someone will ask it, it is from a clay bundle texture of jama jurabaev for 3d "realistic clay", I've just used the base colour texture and drop it on top! And thanks :))
Always amazing Valentin
ahaha many thanks!
can you share your brushes ? secondly are there any plans to make a video with commentary about your process ? i was wondering about your every brush stroke, it looks very calculated, i was curious about those 'calculations'
aha yes I can, but It's 80% hard round basic brush with somethimes low opacity, that's it, otherwise it's brushes from Devin Korwin, but you can find them online. Dozens of brushes aren't that necessary. I feel that I don't really calculate anymore, I mean, some of them became very natural. Usually it's a matter of following the volume that I'm drawing. Brushtrokes of the nose for example : they follow a certain way, to express the volume, like hatching in comic book you know. But I will!
what incredible talent man !
thanks!
Great video Valentin! Thank you! Also I'm a big fan of your art! Fantastic world building ;) I changed careers 2 years ago from Contemporary Art Management to Concept Art and I'd like to add some of my own experiences and thoughts on discipline: For context :) I'm a dad of a 6 year old, my wife is a freelance designer and mentor. This causes our schedule to change regularly and routines are hard to stick to, as ever so often it is just not possible to go for a jog before breakfast because our son got sick over night (just an example). So we have a developed a less strict approach to time management and discipline over the years since the pandemic. The approach is based on self-love and integrity. We are very emotional beings and sticking to a rational approach totally did not work for us, as a rigid system started to feel like a constant grind. We installed a very large whiteboard in our living room that works as our monthly planner. We loosely defined our goals and set one rule: with everything we do, we want to avoid to suffer physically or psychically. This may sound blatant, but has been a game changer to us: getting up early, having a coffee, stretching and then drawing for 30 mins can feel like a lot, when you tell yourself "Man! I have to this or I'm a fucking loser". Instead, we thought about how nice it feels after the first sip of coffee, the first stretch and then calmly drawing a hand just for fun. Just out of self-respect and integrity. When I started my career change I was facing a tremendous amount of new skills to be learned. It felt like entering a temple of knowledge, where every door you walk through there are exponentially more doors after, and then you go deeper and deeper and deeper... So the feeling of being overwhelmed naturally became an everyday occurrence. But because I did set my goals straight and aligned them with my self-love, I was able to enjoy my journey all the way and have fun with it. Even when shit got frustrating, or I felt blocked, that baseline of being kind to oneself really made it possible to just go on. Thanks again!
If Valentin Borowczyk is telling me to exercise daily, exercise I will! Great video, this is probably one of the most important thing to do as a human to reach your goals. Create good habits!
Ahaha great to hear, thanks for all! :) Ps : Valentin* 🤡
@@dailystudies1 Oop! Apologies, I adjusted it. Thanks 😳
good video!!
thanks :)
Hey man, it was nice to know more about your daily routine! How long do you spend approx on your daily paintings? Thank you and looking forward to more videos hehe
Aha thanks man, dailies are between 30 min and 1h, before working
sry for the "puff" sound, gonna fix it in the next video
Love this thank you
😏😏😏
hello, great artwork, reminded me of master craig mullins ! are you planning on doing a tutorial on the same style ?
Ehe thanks sir. Yes I would like to make one, maybe in March
Is there a layout of study topics you would recommend to beginners to intermediates? I assume a beginner should start studying apples and bananas as compared to a Van Gogh painting, right? And when you say master paintings, do you specifically refer to old masters or even master painters in general who have mastered their craft? For example, could I just do studies of a digital painter like WLOP or Greg Rutkowski, or are old painters like Sargent or Leyendecker preferable? Thanks!
Really good question. So, 1st point : If you are really beginning "art" journey in order to enter the industry to be a concept / illustrator etc then yes you have to start with basics of course. If you are not in a school, then draw apples, plasters, bananes etc (that's what I've started with in art school 5 years ago). But if you're exclusively talking about daily study, then do what you want honestly, just try to have fun first, cause the goal of dailies is everything around it like the discipline. Once you're in, reinforce your fundamentals, values, volumes, colours, composition etc... I've made more than 500 dailies, and I'm sure that the 100 first are really useless in terms of knowledge (only pinterest and nice looking images stuff) but it helps me to move forward and achieve 200, then 300 etc. So first, focus on completing that, then think about how can you improve your session by working on something that will reinforce your lacks. 2nd point : Wlop didn't start to draw the first day like Wlop aha. Denis Villeneuve didn't made Dune after taking his breakfast at 6 yo. Da Vinci wasn't an anatomy genius like that. You can't paint as Wlop, if you don't know what are his references, because there will be stuff that you will not understand, cause you don't have his knowledge. Always try to know the references of your own references, it will reinforce your knowledge, it will helps you to understand more what are the choices that people have made nowadays. It's about going back to the source, in order to understand more what you're doing. Craig Mullins wasn't born as freaking monster. He's got a fucking knowledge, he studied a lot. All the n°1 in this industry got strong knowledge, Mullins, Korwin, Jurabaev, Mielgo etc.. It's obvious that this knowledge plays a huge part in it. (imagine a scenario : maybe wlop is using a Rembrandt technique for the shadows who knows? But let's say it's maybe less good than Rembrandt, so by studying R, you'll maybe be better than Wlop in this part). Always go back to basics, but don't forget to create new stuff right. Making 1 step back to jump 50 m right after. I hope it helped you :)
(so I think you can study both, Rembrandt and Wlop aha, nothing is useless)
@@dailystudies1 Yes!!! Thank you so much for the great response. It cleared up some of my confusion for sure. Looking forward to your next videos!
@@STFUppercut69 aha perfect! see you
I allways liked this painting of leo tolstoy, I think both have advantages, in photos can build visual library of objects which can help in concept design and develop your own shorthands and abstractions which painters will have alrerady done for you. Of course the opposate is also true
yes i use it everyday for concept :))
Thank you for the insights regarding this. I'm in a bit of a dilemma in determining how to do this daily studies. I have a question : If I only have 1 hour to study for each day, I want to do daily studies and posting it everyday, but what should I prioritize? I'm a bit confuse regarding this If I prioritize on posting what I achieved in that 1 hour session everyday, it's mostly not that good or unfinished. but If I prioritize on finishing the study, it's either going to be more than 1 hour, or it needs to be more than 1 session that means I skip a day without posting. How do you approach this?
I've always made my studies between 30 min to 1h, and when i mean posting it, you can share it on stories, discord server etc, it doesn't matter. My first dailies were really bad but i didn't let me the choice, because in my opinion, sharing it helps you to be more disciplined and better. People will think that's bad, but believe me, after the 100 one, they are gonna think you're unstoppable in a certain way, and that's good for you. We don't care if that sucks, just try your best and be smart, always think of fundamentals, getting better etc, and that's gonna be good
Excellent video! Y'all, listen to this guy and do daily studies. You will eventually improve.
bahaha many thanks sir :)
How is the louis course treating you? :)
I didn't get the question sorry, you mean what do I think of it?
yes! I noticed the brushes so felt like asking :)@@dailystudies1
lovee thisss
thank you :)
Great character! Great scene! classic movie hahah
Exactly :) always a pleasure to re-watch it
Based and studypilled)
Very well made video buddy, well done!
many thanks bro!
which study is this? 6:15, which master is it from or where can I see it? :)
aha it's not from a master, it was a demo for a mate, it's from pirates of the caribbean
Thanks for the video. Really inspiring!
You're an inspiration Victor!
Awesome! always waiting for a demo from you to learn more!
Aha many thanks!!
I think its also important to not study mindlessly and be specific about what youre going to be studying, mindlessly copying is just a waste of time. you need to know quite a strong theory about light & color fundamentals
just like doing life figure drawing sessions, its a waste of time of you dont yet know whats happening underneath the skin, the anatomy i think
I don't think so, you don't need a strong knowledge to study masters, they are the ones who will teach you nice fundamentals. But it's a complement to other lessons for sure, daily study isn't a single exercise, it's supposed to be a warm-up before doing something else
same thing for figure drawing, there is so many things to learn instead of anatomy. You don't need to know anatomy to practice life figure drawing. Gesture, volumes, proportion, are as (if not more) important as anatomy, in regards of your objectives.
Great video. Do you have French language content?
Thanks, not at all aha
@@dailystudies1 Dang would be cool
That was so jam packed with value!! Great insights. "Doom"-scrolling to find the right piece of content is soo time consuming lol. Truly amazing to see the amount of art you've made!
