    I deleted for about 3-5 months tiktok in 2021-2022 and i remember it was a great experience but then i downloaded back. But i noticed that my vocabulary started to be really bad and i couldn’t focus on a video that lasted more than 3 minutes. So I decided to delete tiktok again in April but during the holidays i downloaded again but i deleted again and it’s been 2 weeks and i can fell that i don’t need this app anymore and i try to learn some new vocabulary, i try to improve my language and learn again my korean because i started to study this language in 2021 but with school and because « i didn’t have time » = social media, i stopped. Anyway that was experience but great video !!! Btw sorry for my English im french

      Thanks for sharing your experience! Social media has a really toxic way of putting people in and out of that loop. But good on you for noticing the negative effects and doing something about it. Most people either don’t see the constant distraction as a problem or they just don’t have enough self control and self power to delete the app. Your already way ahead of so many people. Also good on you for learning languages! How is that going for you? How is your social media usage now? Thanks for stopping by!

      Not gonna lie this was my biggest demon I had to fight. It really sucked for the first couple workout but idk I just got used to it. I should have mentioned it in the video but one thing I noticed was that I was able to be more “in focus” with my lifts cuz I didn’t have anything to stimulate me while lifting. I think this also allows you to listen to your body more when lifting as well. Not gonna sugarcoat it and say it’s all good though. It definitely sucked at times but it 100% can be done.

    Here's some recommendations for resources that helped me get into immersion learning: I recommend the JP1K deck from Refold for learning vocab, it includes the 1000 most common words/kanji from slice of life anime and dramas with built in native recordings for both the words and example sentences. Best $20 I've spend on language learning material. The standard 2k decks with audio on the Anki are fine though for most people. Here are some great youtubers to learn grammar points from if you get confused during immersion: Game Gengo ゲーム言語 Harupaka Japanese Speak Japanese Naturally Saki’s Japanese Lessons Ninjapanese NihongoDekita with Sayaka Logical Japanese with Kiyuu Livakivi Learn Japanese with Tanaka san Kaname Naito (this dude is the real goat for some more advanced grammar stuff) Jouzu Juls (上手 ジューズ) JLPT Japanese Japarrot!- Let's Learn Japanese Japanese With Niko TVFilthyFrank (no wait, maybe not) Japanese Ryo Japanese Language Mentor 三本塾 -Sambon Juku- For people who want a bit more structure in their language study, I tried out NativShark as well and it's really good for learning grammar and general use phrases that you'd use in daily life. It's like $185 a year I think, but for those who are interested, it's one of the better paid online classes I've tried. they also have a free week trial. There are of course plenty of free Japanese grammar guides online so it's not anything you have do get. I also recommend the Migaku browser plugin for Chrome or Brave for starting out with immersion content. It shows subtitles with furigana to help learning to read Japanese as well as easy word lookups on hover. They have a frequency list built into the program to point out useful words to learn as well as easy set up for creating sentence cards for Anki. Free alternative is Iago, it gives word look ups just without the frequency list or anki support. On firefox, 10ten Japanese Reader (Rikaichamp) works well enough. For youtube immersion for beginners here are the channels I recommend: Comprehensible Japanese Jiro's Japanese Class Learn Japanese with Anime Nihongo-Learning Onomappu あかね的日本語教室 【Track girl】 Kanachannel しのせんせい Chris and Gin eating adventures in Japan Japanese Language & Culture ゆかりのおうちで簡単レシピ / Yukari's Kitchen Japanese Conversation with Terumi LJP Learning Japanese Podcast Some of these are probably more intermediate level than completely beginner, but most of them have subtitles in their videos or are just fun to watch in general. Hopefully youtube doesn't block my comment against thinking it's some kind of spam again😩

    i mean i'd say you shouldn't learn kanji in isolation, that sounds like a horrible grind as theres nothing to really grasp onto, only as part of vocab, but yes 100% use spaced repition (with anki) and one deck you build from reading native content (using yomichan and ankiconnect) e.g. anime and have the picture be the scene it took it from, and pop the sentence in there too. using a pneumonic is slow as you want to be able to just look at it and instantly know within 1-3 seconds what it is and thats what spaced repition is good for (if you use spaced repition and spend more than 5- and maaax 10 seconds on a card, you're doing it wrong) learning each of the on and kun readings is just a lot of work so 100% do not do that, you can work out the on and kun readings of a kanji easily if you know words that use that kanji, and what on and kun actually refers to. anki anki anki, immersion immersion, immersion. dictionaries and grammar guide (cure dolly). all you need.

    What about UA-cam? Is it social media? I recently deleted my Instagram account permanently. Only one app i got stuck that is UA-cam. What should i do?

    • @kinghan26
      @kinghan26 Місяць тому

      Apologies for late response. Technically UA-cam is a social media but it’s different in the sense that there is an actually beneficial factor to you. You can use UA-cam to genuinely learn and practice new skills. One can argue that the same can be dint in tiktok or Instagram but it’s not quite the same because of the nature of short form content. You watch a short video and by the nature of short form, you forget it almost instantly. Because of this I still think that UA-cam is beneficial. However, it’s ultimately how you use it. One can still use UA-cam to binge watch useless stuff and just waste time. It’s all about how you use it :)

    Hardest part is zoning out when oonly understanding a word every 10 words. Then u feel like ur wasting ur time....solution one is finding more stuff ur level but those materials are often for kids and solution 2 is to not think so negatively, but ther are other solutions too

    • @kinghan26
      @kinghan26 2 місяці тому

      Yeah I’m really glad you mentioned that… I remember those days when I straight could not focus. If vocab is an issue then try putting a bigger emphasis on vocab while your immersing. It simply might be a little too early for 100% straight immersing. The best material for me was romance/slice of life kind of shows. They tend to use everyday spoken language and I jus like it as a genre lol. I feel like slice of life/romance is a good mix of the content still being a bit mature but still using simple everyday language. Remember to keep your head up. No one said this was going to be easy and your doing a great job by already getting this far. Get used to not being able to understand everything, it’s all part of the process! Best of luck!

    • @danhle1032

      @kinghan26 slice of life could be great as u explained. It took me years before I realized that I should just watch the avengers or whatever I really liked many times already in english and just watch listen to that in my target language. That way I already have context and won't zone out from boredom of not understanding.

    I am against using ANKI or any kind of flashcards. There are many disadvantages with flashcards: 1. They are time-consuming. It may take a long time just to write them. Then you have to read and keep repeating until you get the answers correctly. That can also take a long time. 2. They are boring, tedious, you may lose motivation. 3. They take the words out of context. It is much harder to memorize and understand them. Flashcards are completely inefficient compared to just reading. 4. The fact that you can answer all flashcards correctly doesn't mean you have learned the subject. Why not just read a book? In the same time you create and read flashcards you could just read a book. In one hour you can read several pages of a book. In the same hour how many flashcards can you write (and read)? Flashcards are much more time-consuming than just reading. Or, if you are studying something like Physics or Mathematics, you should just solve a bunch of exercises from a textbook. Most textbooks have plenty of exercises for you to practice. All you have to do is solve them. The book author already prepared all the exercises for you, you don't need to write them, unlike flashcards. If you are learning a foreign language you should read as much as possible. Reading is the best way to acquire vocabulary. You consult the dictionary for the words necessary to understand the text. Reading is much more fun, entertaining, engaging and pleasant than using flashcards. By reading you always see the words in context. In the case of JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) you should buy specific books for it. There are books on sale that specifically help you for the test, offering a bunch of exercises similar to the JLPT questions. It is a much more efficient way to study than flashcards created by someone you don't know. Even if you nailed all the ANKI flashcards, there is no way to know if the flashcards are actually related to the JLPT. Textbooks on the other hand will base their exercises on the actual questions that appear in the exam. I have been studying Swedish for 3 years now mostly by translating song lyrics. I have translated almost 500 songs. I listen to the songs while reading the lyrics, I get vocabulary and pronunciation at the same time. It is a lot of fun and pleasant, I never get bored. I don't worry about memorization, I only care about understanding the lyrics. In the beginning I was barely translating one song in one hour. Now I can translate more than 8 songs in one hour. And I never study more than one hour per day.

    Looks matter but the way you present those looks matter even more. You can be a perfect example of the beauty standard but if you present it poorly, it won’t matter. That’s why perception and how people view you rules.

      Excellent viewpoint! There are definitely parts that you can do better present yourself and give you better shots. Didn’t think about this when making the vid so glad you were able to mention it🙏🏾

    Great video King Han! I totally agree with you're standpoint on lookism's. shouldn't matter in society, unfortunately it does

      Yeah it’s the way the world works I guess… some places more then others. South Korea for example has a huge plastic surgery thing going on over there where it’s viewed as an investment because better looks = better opportunities. Really interesting to think about. Thanks for watching as always Katie!

    I 100% AGREE ON ALL YOUR POINTS! Those are honestly all really good. I've been learning Japanese everyday (like 2h a day) for about 5 months now, and even got my Japanese teacher teaching me every friday. I also go to events where Japanese and other people just have discussions in Japanese and English. I know pretty much all of the particles' uses (I still get が and は mixed up sometimes lol that shit's annoying) but I can understand and connect sentences pretty well. I'm pretty sure I passed the N5 level and can consider myself N4 level although I haven't taken the official test yet (but I passed my Japanese freshman class) But yeah I can't emphasize enough on the immersion and speaking part. Like those are basically what you're gonne need the rest of your life. Conjugation, particle uses, etc are stuff you learn once and will use it but speaking and immersing are what you're constently gonna do. And I know it because as French native speaker that's how I learned English in a relatively short amount of time. It's basically like flowering a plant; you gotta keep doing it everyday or it's gonna die I think the hardest barrier to break when learning Japanese first is learning the Kana. A lot of people at first think they're not as useful but they couldn't be more wrong lol, it's like saying we don't need to use our roman alphabet; without it you can't do shit 😂 But good points, I like your attitude too xD

      Thanks so much for watching and for the thoughtful comment! Good on you for staying consistent and taking the initiative to go to language exchange events. and yeah the は and が had me so annoyed too at first so you're not alone lol. I appreciate how you explained that learning the basics is a one time thing but immersion is an everyday for the rest of your life thing. This couldn't be more true! Immersion is the thing that keeps you progressing and moving forward. You can only learn grammar so much, but if you never actually SEE the grammar in immersion, then good luck lol. And yeah I don't know why people think that they can away with only knowing romaji. Learning the Kana is not hard lol. I think for a lot of people Kanji is the main thing that steers people away from progressing in Japanese but even that can be learned with a proper system in place. Your definitely on the right path and judging by how your English is really good, you know what your doing. Really impressive that English isn't your first language! Best of luck and lmk how you progress!
