Trail Riding Hurricane Creek and Max Patch Mountain Trail
Follow along with us as we spent the weekend riding Hurrican Creek Trail in the Pisgah Forest of NC. We stayed at Black Forest Family Camping Resort as a launching point for trail riding, exploring and hanging out with friends.
We actually met most of the people in this video earlier this year during Overland South: an overlanding and trail riding expo hosted twice a year out of Charleston, SC. Talk about immediately hitting it off! We were lucky to have a genuine connection with these authentic new friends. Get your tickets now for the next one and come hang out with #shantytown
Thurs Oct 10th - Sun Oct 13th, 2024!
www.overlandsouth.com/
After a full day tackling some challenging trails we headed up to Max Patch Mountain and took a brief hike up to the lookout. Enjoyed both the scenery and the company. We have meshed so well with this group, so let us know if you want to see more of Jones, Martine, Harrison, Anastasia, Rich, and Hunter!

      Honestly, it started as a joke. I watched a lot of the Dukes of Hazzard and appreciated his narration style. I know several languages and my accent can change very naturally based on who I speak to. But I grew up in South Georgia and sound very country on the regular. But for consistency's sake - not a good practice 😂. Could be considered fake. But I appreciate you watching and I'm glad you enjoyed. This is one of our favorite places so far.

    I love that tent, that’s got style. I to a big angus a few years ago with the led lighting, it’s a huge help. It is a huge tent for one person, but I can put it up & down myself. I had a bear peek in a few weeks ago at Watkins glen in nys. What a thrill that was. The palm trees in the campground are hilarious. I may have to put it on my to do list. My sister lives down there so I can work something out. That’s a great setup in your tent. I’m retired military & we slept on those cots, & they are comfy, lemme tell you. I put my sleeping bag pad & bag on it & slept like baby. I need to get one. I still have my sleeping bag, the ones they today are one thin layer underneath & the air pad, I tried them out, & for a $290.00 pair, I slept miserably. It was so uncomfortable. I sent them back & as supply sergeant, & turning in the ww2 field gear, to warehouse & replace with the new 3 piece sleeping systems, I kept mine. I am small, so I have plenty of room in it. I’ve never been cold in it. & we’ve been in some pretty cold, wet temps up in Massachusetts. That water is spectacular! Wow!is it ice cold? I like your gear, it gave me great ideas. The French press..

    I'm installing a Badland 9000 on my Colorado. Had to turn the controller box on top around for it to fit in front of my front bumper and license plate. Which is no big deal as it's my daily driver and the winch, if everything goes well will never come out of the truck bed on trips. I got the rope to do it when I got the winch 2 years ago. At my age I really couldn't be horsing the winch around with the steel cable on it. Plus, it can be mounted on another vehicle if necessary. I was able to pick up 25 foot rolls of black and red 1/0 cable and Anderson plugs to use as extension "cord" or reach to the rear bumper.

    • @SwampFoxOverlandandOutdoor
      @SwampFoxOverlandandOutdoor 4 місяці тому

      I really love the idea of having the 589Fab front receiver so I can bring the winch cradle to the front when wheeling with other folks. And yes, synthetic line is so much more pleasant to handle and spool. I personally hate managing steel cable, although it's super durable. But for my purposes, synthetic line makes so much sense for safety and ease of use.

    Don't know if you have a front hitch for your cradled winch but they're relatively inexpensive or at least used to be $125-$150ish. You'll lose some clearance but shouldn't be any different if you're still running your front diffuser/splitter/air dam.
