2:54 He’s absolutely correct - the REAL problem is HOUSING. The gov’t is not doing any single damn thing about the rising costs of housing. I was previously looking at some apartment rentals in Taipei in case if I move there one day. But the ones that I’m looking for (the ones that best fit my housing needs) costs over $40K TWD per MONTH and that doesn’t include the monthly management fees. Even the most basic apartments without a stove costs around $20K TWD, which I may even have trouble forking out if I have a full time job there. Now to make matters worse, the more newer apartments being built today now costs between $50-100K TWD per month, which only celebrities, CEOs, and well-known doctors can afford. They said “It’s cheaper if you just buy it.” Well, let me tell you, if you are gonna buy it, prepare to fork over around the min of $20 million TWD.😢

Some of these comments are so gross. Housing should be a human right, not dependent on whether you can or are willing to work. Privatizing and making shelter, food, and water a commodity is evil, full stop. Why does a person need to fit into our definition of what a 'good' or 'useful' member of society to have their humanity recognized? What is this eugenicist nonsense that focuses on ability to work and puts able-bodied, heteronormative, 'productive' people as being more worthy of support and housing.

being homeless in an Asian is worst than here in US because of the cultural stigma that comes with it. Same for things they are ignorant about with pertains particularly to mental illness such as depression and autism. They are the fcks of the world and rather than be educated prefer to degrade those people.

My heart goes out to the person in the video who ran away from his home and has become a homeless for 20 years. It seems he never loses his marbles and the government can help him find a job and settle down in some places like a cheap hostel. If the government or the society did do something to help him he shouldn't have to live a yucky life like this.

Homeless and black market is an excellent indicator of a gov't efficiency or priorities.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Taiwanese people generally see homeless people are lazy or unwilling to work. That generalization is why we have stereotypes. Many are compassionate towards them although few understand their backgrounds.

Bless him for still living his life, being a free spirit and still volunteering to help others in his community ❤️

Even I never became homeless before this video is inspiring and show us how tough a person can pull himself with any situation!! I may be soon homeless and I got deal whatever struggles come around In Sha Allah..I believe Allah is with always even if group of people torture me in Amazon..I believe it is only him who saves before, and will save me always no matter what!! Back in 2008 and living there for 6 years, I dont think I ever encounter a homeless person. This is heartbreaking knowing now Taiwan has this problem nowdays. Hope he stay healthy always.

Madam CKS grabbed the welfare of the Chinese in Taiwan to live a life of luxury in NYC ! Taiwan MUST REUNITE with CHINA PRC. USA is the land of homeless , don't go there as there are loads of drugs addicts in USA !

Taiwan government has a lot of policy helping homeless, however some people don't want to have a regular life.
