Adding Images to Book
I love adding the images to a book and reworking the layout. A lot of it is trying something out and seeing if it looks good, then trying something different and seeing if you like it better!
The history's mysteries books are particularly fun to work with because you discover how many historic documents and artifacts have been photographed or digitized, and placed online with license to be used in books and websites!

Thanks, Its what i needed, is their any way we can pull diffrent image also from specfie set of images.
saved me so much time!!! thank you!
Thank you so much :-)
You and the people on the website deserve some kind of a medal. You don't know how much grief you have saved me from.
This is, by far, the most useful PowerPoint tutorial I've ever seen on this particular subject! When I would google how to flow info from Excel into PowerPoint, 98% of the time the results were explaining how to "Link" your spreadsheet data so that updates in excel would show up in PPT. I needed to figure out how to pull a list of 117 names from excel into a PowerPoint where each slide had ONE name, and I didn't want to have to manually cut and paste 117 times. Not only did you explain how to do what I needed to have done, you also explained it with a brevity and clarity that made learning how to complete my task sooooo easy. I can't thank you enough. I have both liked and subscribed. 🙂
Thanks for the video. It gave me what I needed! I was not able to change the text style with the master slides though. When imported as an outline, it went in with Times New Roman and it stayed that way. Any idea why?
Did you go to the top slide in master style?
@@WaltonBurns Yes I did. I use master slides regularly and tried to change the font from the master slides and even refreshed the slide layout and it would change the other features, but not update the font itself. It's because when the slides area created, PP does not import them with a heading style even though they were assigned the heading style in word.
OMG! You literally saved me HOURS of work with this trick! Thank you so much for sharing!
7:22 What is the difference between the title statuses? When you're registering your book with us, it's important to understand the different title statuses you can assign to your book. Each status reflects a specific stage in the life cycle of a book. Here's an explanation of each: Active Record: This status indicates that your book is actively being published and is available for sale. It's the most common status for books that are currently in print and being distributed. Forthcoming: Use this status for books that are scheduled for publication in the future. It signifies that the book is not yet available, but will be published and released on a specific future date. Import to Order: This status is used for books that are not regularly stocked but can be ordered from another country or source. It’s common for specialized or international titles. Inactive: This indicates that the book is no longer being actively marketed or distributed, although it might still be available in some channels. It's not formally out of print, but it's not being actively promoted. No longer our product: Use this status if your book was previously available under your publishing company but is now being published and sold by a different publisher or entity. On Demand: This status is for books that are printed only when an order is received. It's commonly used in print-on-demand (POD) publishing. Out of Print: This means the book is no longer being printed and is not available for sale through regular channels. This status is typically used when the publisher decides not to reprint the book. Out of Stock Indefinitely: Similar to out of print, but it suggests there might be a possibility of the book coming back into stock, although there are no current plans for a reprint. Postponed: Use this for a book whose publication has been delayed. It differs from "Forthcoming" in that the book was meant to be published already but has been delayed for some reason. Publication Cancelled: This status is used when a book that was scheduled for release has been cancelled and will not be published at all. Recalled: This is a rare status used when a book is withdrawn from the market due to significant errors, legal issues, or safety concerns. Remaindered: This status indicates that the unsold inventory of the book is being sold off at a reduced price. It usually happens when a book is moving toward going out of print. Temporarily Withdrawn from Sale: This status is used for books that have been temporarily pulled from the market, possibly due to revisions, legal disputes, or other temporary issues. Unknown: This is used when the status of the book is not currently clear. It might be a placeholder status until more information is available. Unspecified: Similar to "Unknown," this status is used when the specific status of the book hasn't been determined or disclosed. Withdrawn: This indicates that the book has been permanently withdrawn from the market and is no longer available for sale.
Yes, very helpful information! Is this from the Bowker website?
It would also be nice if it could redirect back to your website after the order is complete.
True!
cool We love it.

Thanks for the info
Hello, thanks for the video. I met the following difficulty. When I am in powerpoint and I want to use a new slide from an outline I have the message that I cannot use the ms word file that I have created because its' format was changed. I have tried to save it in different formats but it did not work. Can you help with this?
I'm not totally sure, but when I googled it, some people found they had to type the whole filename in including the extension (.doc or .docx or .xls or so on). Maybe that will help.
Thank you :)@@AlphabetPublishing
@AlphabetPublishing I tried to type the whole name + file extension but it did not work. I played around with the different types of extentions and it worked with .rtf type of file. Thank you for the video. Wish you all the best :)
@@Zipy88 Good to know. Are you on a mac?
@@AlphabetPublishing I am using Windows 10 and MS Office 2016
Just saved me a tonne of time, thank you!
THANK YOU
Namaste. This is what I was looking for. Thanks for making this video. However, font is posing an issue when it comes to Indic scripts. Fonts are working fine till the final word file. While creating the slides from outline, there is "?" symbol after every character in the text. I tried changing the font in the slide master and also by keeping the same font in Excel, Word and Powerpoint beforehand. I have to replace "?" symbols manually. This is okay only when the text does not already contain a "?" character. I shall highly appreciate any solution to this problem.
My best guess is you might need to change the default fonts for your style to ones that cna handle Indic scripts.
What I am looking for
Thank you for this video! It has been useful to me.
This is fantastic. Great information and well presented. many thanks!
how do you do this on Mac?!
Good question! I don 't have a Mac so I have no idea! Are the controls for Word for Mac so different?
They removed VBA code from some versions of MS Office Mac...so you may need to do this on a Windows version (Parallels?)
Hi, the video is super useful! One issue that I'm facing is when I select slides from outline and select the word that I saved, the names that must come below in a sequence that doesn't happen. The names goes individually in each slide, Kindly help on this.
You helped me so much! Thanks!
Is it possible to merge picture also
I don't think so unfortunately!
Truly useful, thank you so much!!
I tried this and when I was going to select the merge word document it was grayed out. I'm trying to figure that out. Your instructions were right on point though. Thank you.
Are you on a Mac? If so, it appears you need to save your Word doc as .rtf for this to work. No idea why though!
you're good!!!!! thank you!!! Wow!!!
Super useful video! I have an issue and I’ve looked everywhere for answers. I need to do what you showed but with like 100 slides and 30 titles per slide. Everything went smoothly until I had to upload the final word file (with all the pages), power point told me the structure is too long and isn’t possible to read it internally. Have you encountered this before? Do you about any limits that Power Point might have in this regard? Thanks so much again for sharing your knowledge
I wonder if your computer just isn't up to the task.
Perfect , is there a way to insert photos as well from a different folder
Not that I know of, or can find on Google. I wish there was. That would be amazing!
This is really good... A gentle step by step throughout. Thanks very much God bless you.
Why can't I choose my .docx file from the 'New Slide-Outline'
Hello, a useful video! I have a question that: Is there a way to update a new slide automatically when we add a new data row in excel?
I'm guessing you could program a macro or something in VBA to do that, but that is above my expertise!
I really just want to not type the names of the students from the student lists into the PowerPoint slides for the portfolio booklet cover pages anymore.
This will work for that!
Great Video! Simple! Very easy to follow! Thank You So Much for simplifying this process!
I'm so glad it was helpful!
I really appreciate you taking the trouble to do this.
Glad you appreciated it!
Thank you very very much!!!
Can this work with Notes also?
Do you mean Onenote? I don't think so because it doesn't have that merge functionality.
@@AlphabetPublishing No, the notes for the slides. Underneath the slide
@@AlphabetPublishing In the notes section of the slide.
@@deprive-999x Ah. Gotcha. I don't think so because I don't think they set that up to be filled out automatically.

Hello, I just came upon your video after searching UA-cam for a tutorial on how to format poetry manuscript for submission, I have a book length poetry collection I anxiously want to submit to traditional publisher but need some guidance on how to set it up and what to include such as acknowledging etc, please let me know and thanks
I work in educational publishing mainly so I really don't know a lot about a poetry MS, but this excerpt from a master class with Billy Collins seems like very good and authoritative advice. Scroll down to read the whole post. www.masterclass.com/articles/how-to-format-and-submit-your-poetry-manuscript
Hey.. its my first time trying to submit my work and i wanted to ask is it ok to send the whole script to the publisher or shall i just send a chapter of it ?
what if i have graphs and pictures in excel... how do i use mail merge for that...without taking the word interface
As far as I know, to mail merge into PPT, you need to find a plugin or outside program. You can cut-and-paste or use Insert->object and then select an excel worksheet, but you'd have to do it individually.
It doesn't look like the slide master allows the font to be changed for the imported text. Any workaround for this? Thanks!
Nevermind, you have the reset the slide for the master layout to take effect! FYI!
@@tooswxxt Thanks Sorry I didn't reply. I find the slide master layout is really picky and takes some trial and error to get it to work!
Also, you can just modify the format of the headings in your "final" file. That way they get pulled already formatted.
@@tooswxxt how did you do that? i can't change the font
i get it know! never mind!
This is great! Is there a way to pull in images? Here is my use case... I want to get better at remembering names and faces. My idea is for the PowerPoint Slides is to have their name, title, company, and then also a headshot of the person. If I had the url for their headshot image...could I pull that in also?
Great question. I don't think that would work. I can't figure out how to add images honestly. It's a great idea, but you might have to go back and add the images manually.
See my video for that.
