I have driven this stretch of highway countless times over the years and have seen this behavior a few times now. Over a long stretch of years. So not sure if it's from repeated feeding, and/or learned and passed on. I stopped for what I expected to be a brief photo/video op. But this coyote was clearly not behaving like most in this situation. Usually sprinting off. It was following any passer by as I sat there. And kept returning. On this occasion I didnt see anyone feed it. But the very first time I had seen this behavior was about 25 years prior on this same stretch of road. And it was a wolf at the drivers side window of a car that had stopped in front of me. They tossed it something. And rolled away. It then started to come toward my vehicle. Like .. NEXT ..... Like a panhandler at a traffic light. Certainly a loss of fear of humans and vehicles. At least enough to exploit the opportunity anyway. I'll let the viewer come to their own conclusions, perceptions or opinions about it. Just thought Id share the footage. Ive definitely seen habituated wildlife many times over the years but this got my attention I guess because it was always the same stretch of road over 25 years.
