      @@marnusBOTHMA I don’t know. I’m sorry. I haven’t been there in a few years. I think someone in Craig, Colorado might own but I’m not 100% sure. If you go to the Carbon County WY Assessor site. You could look at their GIS map. Another option would be OnX hunting App. That one will cost you money though.

    She was a pistol! 90 lbs. red headed fireball. As a child she was playing with a grizzly cub, the hands told her to quit but, she didn’t, they had to kill the sow. I think she was 9. First white woman born there, wet nursed by a Ute woman. She was dressing like an Indian and as wild as they come, daddy sent her off to boarding school, to straighten her out. 😢 could you imagine her on horseback, tipping cattle by their tails, at a gallop? Broke a few of their necks doing so. Queen of the rustlers.

    My cousin. This was the beginning of the end for the hole in the wall gang. Valentines brother J J Hoy wrote letters to the government of the 3 states, marshals took up the chase. No longer could the gang enjoy state lines.

    • @rdhoy
      @rdhoy Місяць тому

      @@WestwardTreks I wish I knew. If there are I’d sure like to know. The family broke up pretty fast after Valentines death. Hoy mountain was named after Valentine. I see there’s still a hoys marsh, north side of the green river. I have a photo of my great grandparents, 2 great uncles , and grandpa, going back to Illinois after selling a ranch in Colorado. Grandpa had a cousin out there that he unsuccessfully tried to kill twice. Gun misfired both times. Had kin folk in eastern Colorado, around sterling. 3 of the hoy brothers brand is A6. I’ve connected with my 6th cousin, twice removed, she’s sister Emily’s great great granddaughter. Emily was the 5 hoy boys little sister. My tells a story that grandpas cousin spent his life in the penitentiary. Valentine after his ranch hand was shot, was kept against his will at the Basset’s overnight. He was pissed and gun ho, which is why he was first in the posse. Annie Basset I believe married the foreman of the 2 bar, moved to L.A. comeback 20 yrs later and, still wanted to kill cattle. Tom Horn killed her finance, which started the cattle killin.

    My 3rd cousins, the Hoys 5 brothers and a sister, had ranches at the time also. Valentine was shot and killed while pursuing the murders of a young ranch hand. They named Hoy mountain after him. Hoys marsh is still there on the north side of the green river. They raced horses on a hoy ranch, it was an old Ute race track, Butch Casady raced there, while he was still a wrangler. Louie la more, used Mexican Joe in the book, Ride the Dark Trail, which was associated with a real incident with Valentine. Mexican Joe was the leader of a gang, he’d pull his knife from behind his head and hone, just before he’d strike. Valentine pulled a boot knife and would have killed him if not for fact of his arm deflected by the gang. Cut Mexican Joe across the butt cheek so bad that he couldn’t sit for 3 weeks. James Hoy, journaled their time there, his manuscript was published by Colorado A&M college1952 . I’d like to have a copy.

      Are you like some typa walking ignorance that has access to the internet but refuses to search a lick of information up?!? Wow, we’re complete opposites bc I couldn’t stand to be at the least, a little informed on any given subject I actively try to participate in, people like you shouldn’t have access to to phones let alone the internet because we can get a good idea of who or how you are from such a simple comment💀😂 btw, people currently still bury “treasure” and we are still finding anything from private family owned hordes to wealthy kingdoms covered up silver and gold, and there’s still ancient Aztec artifacts unaccounted for and undiscovered, being Hispanic and you trying to convince me that “no one buried their treasure.” Is such a silly statement when you don’t even know if you can believe in that opinion yourself😂

    I'm still looking for the loot that Black Jack Ketchum buried. They hung him in Clayton, New Mexico. When they put him in jail he was a normal man. Sitting in jail for about a year he gained around 100 lb. When they hung him, his head popped off.😮 The supposed location is in Colfax county buried somewhere along the Cimarron River. Is estimated to be $20,000 in gold coin.😅 According to my calculations it's somewhere on the UU BAR Ranch.🤔
