The simple sewing tool that I use to make my bestselling hats
One of the most useful sewing tools in my toolbox! Finishing the seams inside my hats and finishing the edges of faux fur too! Sewing with faux fur has never been faster or easier for me. The compensating foot for my industrial sewing machine is the tool that I just can't do without! It took me years to discover that this simple change of presser feet could make such an incredible difference to the quality of my handmade hats. I use this foot to finish all my hats now, from the simple toques to the fancier full brimmed hats. Compensating feet are available for all types and makes of sewing machines, industrial, quilting or portable home machines.
The foot I use is available on Amazon all over the world and comes in a variety of widths. The deeper part of the foot can be on the left side or the right side. Even though I have several in different seam widths, the one I use the most is the 1/4" width.
My affiliate link for the compensating foot on Amazon - geni.us/IxOxx
Once you are on Amazon in your country you can search for the compensating foot that will match your make of machine and the seam width you need.

Interfacing choices are improving! Sewing hats built to last!
Переглядів 9095 місяців тому
I found a new interfacing to fall in love with and it is easy to get via Amazon, cost effective and has proven more consistent in high quality than it's competitors that I have been using for years. The brand is called "Plantional". It is fusible on one side with what the manufacturer calls "Black Glue". Black glue has a tint to it so this interfacing is not pure white but rather has a greyish ...

OMG - I bought this fleece and it’s just PERFECT! I do a lot of zipper bags and mug rugs and the 12 inch wide roll is just so great! And it’s sooooo easy to store - and cut pieces off when needed! Love it!
Thank you Julia!! I love it too! Cheers, Tori
Shirt bottom folding size pls mm
Depends on the type of fabric you are using for your shirt. Lighter cotton would be the smaller set and something like a denim chambray or heavier you would choose from one of the four in the larger mm set. I have the set of 8 which I recommend if you are doing lots of sewing! Cheers, Tori

Do you sew the quilted side on the non sticky / non fusible side
Non sticky side! Cheers, Tori
@ thanks for confirming!
I must be new to this channel. I have definitely subscribed. I love what you do and thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I’ve never seen a fabricating ruler like yours. I’d love the link 😊 the ruler looks great for me and my limitations. Thanks again for sharing.❤
Thanks and welcome!! Cheers, Tori
Love this fusible interfacing. I have both sizes, I use the larger one for tote bags. Love the fabric in your placemats.
Thanks so much! Scraps from making face masks days!! I have bags of scraps so it has been fun using some of them up! Cheers, Tori
Beautiful placemats, I will get some of the fleece interfacing. Do you still need heatproof interfacing as well? I don't want my oak table to warp. Thank you!
Right now I use mine as placemats for dinner plates/place settings and I am using one under a small Christmas tree. This interfacing is polyester so it will melt at very high temps. By high temps I mean over 140 degrees or perhaps straight out of the oven. This interfacing is not the right one to use for oven mitts or under hot pots and pans but beautiful for your place settings and to offer protection from spills etc! Thanks so much for your comment! Cheers, Tori

Thanks for watching! Questions or comments, leave them here! Cheers, Tori
Thank you for the video! I click the link but the item was just the magnetic guide. I was hoping you could help with a link to the measurement guide you had in the video? My machine doesn't have measured grooves like the new machines. I use tape and it's a pain 😊
Thank you for watching! The magnetic seam guide set with ruler seems to be only available on the Canadian Amazon site ... here is the link and hopefully you can get it shipped or you can find the ruler sold separately through your Amazon. geni.us/iKmqHB
Thank you!
You're welcome! Give it a good 30 minutes of practice to get the feel of how to position the fabric. Small tool opening means finer or thinner fabrics while the larger sizes are meant for fabrics that are heavier or have some body/a bit of stiffness to them.
Link for this massager is in the description for the video. Thanks for watching! Tori
Thanks but you skipped right by the hardest part, which is getting it started...
I might have to do another project and use this tool. Right now switching to wool and fleece with my hat business but will def try to get a project with these attachments again!
@@Madcaphatsreviews Thanks, will keep an eye out for it. The first 2-3 inches of mine come out curved.

This didn't work for my auntie she was continued being billed and paid hundreds and hundreds of dollars for this product and it only made the bugs worst I will not recommend anyone to try this mess
I hope the company has made things right! This is just my personal experience, it worked for us to help with mosquitos and we only needed to buy one starter kit for the season. We did not subscribe to any plan or anything. So sorry to hear this bad experience. What type of bugs is your auntie dealing with if you don't mind sharing. Tori
I used a strong magnet to hold in place because I don't have a hole for a screw on my machine ua-cam.com/users/shortsbdYjCUjukhc?si=Exm8mF82zJXfdoUi
They are great! We have been using them for our seams for over 20 years ... used to just buy a magnet block in the hardware store but I find these covered ones with the tab to lift them is alot more convenient when I am doing lots of sewing!
I would like to take a moment and thank you for your video it was very well done. I've never used one of these before and I just got mine in and wanted to see a video that would help me understand how it works and yours was A++
Thank you Tobi, you made my day. So glad you found this useful!! These require a little practice but once you get the hang of it they make lovely even seams. I use mine on every project. Cheers, Tori
This was really helpful and thanks so much😀
Thank you so much for watching!!! Tori
Searched for an hour and I can’t find anything that looks like the brand you are saying. what is Johnic? Links go to a brand called wenice
The jonnick comes with a ruler and a long side that is usable ... I only can find it from the Canadian Amazon which will be a .ca ... here is the local link but it might be that the company does not ship to the country you are in. Fingers crossed! The other one by Wenice is great too ... I have both! Jonnick - amzn.to/3WPxHqt

Vintage Kenmore 158 series are common. The problem is that the accessory screw hole in the bed is approximately 2.25 "inches right of the foot. These would simplify my projects with the proper size accessories.
It is a shame that all machines do not have common features like the screws and the size of the metal plates. I have a vintage Kenmore iron by the way which I love. Just bought a new Kenmore iron to keep handy as a backup. Thanks so much for your comment! Cheers, Tori
I used a big heavy duty magnet to keep it in place because I don't have a screw there either ua-cam.com/users/shortsbdYjCUjukhc?si=Exm8mF82zJXfdoUi

Please ma how can o get it 1mm
That is very very narrow and I am don't have a tool that produces such a small edge except for my industrial merrow edge serger. IT is a serged edge rather than a rolled one but that is what I use for such a narrow edge. If you find something please let us know!! This set I have is 3 mm as the smallest and you would only use it with a very fine fabric. Thanks for your comment, question and for watching! All the best, Tori
