Whoa! Darn near slipped off with the needle nose pliers putting the c clip on… Thanks!
Who was the model in the bikini in the cold room?
I actually own one of the trucks that was used on this trip.
Thanks for this awesome video ❤️🏆
Very enjoyable watch. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent video I don’t care what you refer to me I’m just so happy and thankful for your great video🎉❤
If you do a future videos with an environment as noisy as the airstream plant, you may want to do a voice over later. It was very hard to understand anything you were saying. Otherwise, good Content. Not sure my AS door needs a hammer yet.
My grandparents were on this trip.
Mine as well, My grandmother is the lady cutting the mans hair at the waterhole..
My door swings on a large single hinge in the middle which has worn down causing the door to scrape the threshold. Can it be repaired without replacing the costly vintage hinge?
I was on this caravan with my parents and 2 sisters. We left NYC on May 31, 1959 and traveled by ship to Cape town, SA. which took 21 days. Exciting to be going back to Cape town;, the ostrich farm and Durban next week!
So what can be done? Thanks
Thank you for your time on this .. I have a 2008 safari 25FB and the bottom of the door doesn’t quite fit the frame, meaning there is a gap at the bottom fo the door and it doesn’t close tight.
Is this DC wiring the same for the 28" Motorhomes? I have a 1980 Excella and the DC power to the cooker, clock and furnace is open circuit and this is not at the fuse box, so is there a junction where the wire from the fuse box spurs to the three loads of the clock, cooker and furnace please?
Thank you. Very helpful, getting ready to make some changes to the factory installed solar system on a 2018 FC 30ft RBQ. Great for general knowledge as well.
I was born in 1950 and lived the first six years in an Airstream. My dad bought it when he came back from the war and his family of 4 lived in it those six years as an Air Force family. We lived in El Rey trailer park near the Air Force base.
Take it back and shove it up their a--
Thank you for this video. I have a 1958 Airstream Pacer that look like those on the trip.
13:50 Good lord.... "I forgot my bathing suit" "It's okay, just strip down to your underwear."
That trailer looked awesome, until they added the couch and colors.
Thanks for sharing
What an awesome video! Cool to look back on this history, especially since we are in the middle of renovating an airstream right now! 🙌
Seriously Helpful. Thank you!
I love the narration "Can easily be lifted by this attractive but not obviously muscular young minx", lol!
That road test at the end was awesome! They forgot to mention that the old guy driving the car had 15 rum and cokes before accidentally driving off-road at the test track just to make sure it was safe for the times!
Thank you so much you saved me a lot of money and time
THANK YOU! 1971 Land Yacht, and we were fiddling with the door for hours :( Watched your video and fixed the problem in 30 seconds! BTW, this happened because the ASt was PREVIOUSLY out of level for a while when it was off the tires and on jacks. No one believed me that it was shifting, but now I can fix it by myself (hopefully) if it happens again!
I have a 2017 Montana high country 378rd and I can't find anyting on my RVs door and it's misalignment. Great video👏👏👏👏👏
Good video
So, I saw him hit the hinges before tightening them (and theoretically couldn't have tightened them until he pulled off the plastic covers). Are we assuming the hinges are loose already? Or should we hit them before loosening screws?
I love the old Airstreams-- but THAT was a FULL bath?? lol!
After stumbling around the web for a long time, I finally found a history of the sheet aluminum used on Airstreams from 1947. Several grades were used at different times over different production runs. The Alclad material was a 2024 alloy which is in fact the primary aircraft fuselage sheet. That 2024 was the only grade used that was Alclad. Later 3003 grade and 5052 grades were used with a couple of years using 6061. 3003 is very soft, 6061 is much harder and not easily formed. I'm guessing Airstream looked at the cost of the various grades at any given time. The Alclad material can be polished to a very high luster. The current material seems to be a grade 5052 with an "Alumax" coating. I'm guessing that this coating is a low cost alternative to anodizing. Polishing that finish could result in a patchwork looking mess. One thing for sure, the Alclad 2024 was the premier material. www.odmrv.net/AsPanels/History%20of%20Aluminum%20at%20Airstream.pdf
I've got a paladin (a rare English version)
its ahead of its time
My grandparents Don and Gen Christie of Carmel, Indiana were on this caravan.. They can be seen at time stamp 10:04 of this video
Timeless, classic and sexist! I miss the good old days.
yes they were wonderful-- IF you were the one who was sexist, rather the one on the receiving end....
Nothing sexist about this.
What a delightful video. Of its time but very interesting all the same. I just feek sorry for the guys with the fibreglass and no gloves lol
Cool information on the Airstream..
I would like to respectfully remind you that both women and men own, maintain, and repair their RVs and to suggest that you be less gender specific in your tutorial. Thank you.
I guess people these days need to be offended by something. It’s just a figure of speech. Oh my bad I said figure and that has a female connotation.
Give it a rest.
Piss off
Fascinating! Thankyou!🚐🙋✌
What make and year is the white truck with double headlights?
That is a late 1950's International Harvester Travel-all
How do you do that in a 1950s
Men are amazing! We're like wild stallions!
Yes-- they both fart a lot
Back when men were men and women were women.
Thanks for posting. Very helpful. My door on my new Airstream has a gap at the top like you mentioned. Enough where you can see daylight. I’m nervous about letting my dealer look at it but don’t particularly want to drive to Jackson Center. I sure would feel better letting the factory techs look at it...
If you saw how they put these together at the factory, that might be enough to cool your jets about needing to visit them...they just use a bigger hammer!
Michael Turner I was in Jackson Center in August and got a tour. I decided to bite the bullet and did it myself. Figured I couldn’t make it much worse than it was. Now it is so much better. I impressed myself. Lol
16:22-18:29 I want that job
Airstream trailers are a real piece of Americana
Geeeee, this back music is really annoying!
Noticed he referred to the audience as "gentlemen", heads up, ladies watching too that do our own repairs!
Yeah, I noticed that too. LOL I feel like a woman!
If you want to make it too just use InpliX handbooks.
