    Depends on the day. If I have something in the afternoon that I need to get to like taking kids to ballet or gymnastics, then I’m frustrated and on edge because I know I’ll need to make up the time the next day or with a short lunch. If all I need to do at the end of the day is go home, it’s not too big of a deal. It just means working until 5:00 or 5:30 instead of 4:30. It also helps that I live in an area where traffic isn’t a huge concern. I used to commute to a major city and it was a nightmare no matter what time I left the house. I could leave at 5:30 am and it would still take an hour to go 20 miles.

    Another great example of this is wearing a tshirt with a little stain on it. As the wearer, you can’t seem to take your mind off the fact that you have dropped toothpaste on your shirt this morning before leaving. Everyone must be judging you for wearing a shirt with a stain. You might have even pointed it out to some people just to “get in front of it”. The toothpaste stain consumes your thoughts when in actuality, no one really cares.

      @@Stroles84 you are 💯 on the money. They did a study on this making someone wear a Barry Manilow T-Shirt and walk late into a room of people….. most of them didn’t even notice.

      Funny you mention that because just today, I was wearing my favorite t shirt and it had bleach stains on the back of it and other shirts having these annoying stains as well (I dunno why this keeps happening) which you can't remove. I care too much about it but the thing is, nobody was paying attention to the stain rather liking the graphics on my shirt.

    I’ve got a friend who loves sharing his achievements, and I want to make sure he feels awesome about them, but I’m not always sure how to respond in a way that’s smooth and natural, avoiding awkwardness..

    • @AnthonyLaye
      @AnthonyLaye 15 днів тому

      I am going to use a quote that I love to answer this 'where you speak from, you speak to' (it's not my quote and I am unsure of the origin). If you are genuine in your compliments it will come across as natural. One extra piece of advice (and maybe I will do a future video on this) is end the compliment with a question, this way it gives the conversation somewhere to go. A lot of people feel awkward with compliments as they dont know how to respond. Asking a question avoids the awkwardness. Hope that helps and thank you for commenting 🙏

    Hi Anthony, it's the crazy one 😜 who commented a month back, and didn't return the following day, as mentioned, to say why not everyone wears a mask. Things did not go as planned, sorry about that. Since my initial half watching of this video, I have returned and watched the video a couple of times, before commenting further. It got me thinking ( which is the idea 😅) , and even though, I understand the concept that everyone wears masks, I'm going to go out on a very thin limb and say, I don't think/ feel like I do . And would hope that there could be others out there too. However, you challenged my mind and thoughts about that, and I like that. Maybe I do. The way I see this, is, We , as people, have many different facets and sides to us, and I guess, that's the different " faces/masks " we show, under varying circumstances. I understand that. But, maybe it's just more the way my mind perceives the term " mask " .... To me, a person who wears a mask, is someone acting and portraying themselves as someone that is at odds or the opposite of who they truly are. Intentionally hiding who they are, to ensnare you for whatever unpleasant or dark intentions they harbour. For example, a sociopath/psychopath, who pretends to be a genuine, caring and loving, respectful individual, or a narcissistic type individual like you talk about in this video. I hope this makes sense? Welcome to my mind 😂. Also, I think it is amazing that you are helping your daughters, and others, to pick up on whether someone could be a narcissist or narcissistic type person. It's especially wonderful you are teaching your daughters early on. All of the 5 points you made are important. In my personal experience of having dealt with a few. It's usually a combination of more than one of the points you made here that shows up in a narcissistic type person. You are doing your daughters a massive service, and care beyond words. 👏 💗.

      Thank you, and thank you for your kind words. I can see you've put some good thought into this which also means a lot, I like it when people decide to reflect and really explore something they have heard. I think that as you say you take the definition of mask more towards a dark place, however I don't see it like this. A simple couple of examples here could be, someone who is struggles with confidence at work but puts on a mask to try and hide this, or maybe someone who is struggling with loneliness but doesn't want the world to see so acts in a way to cover it up. I find it fascinating and it also can lead to much deeper connections with others.

    • @leaningliminal
      @leaningliminal Місяць тому

      Thank you for your thoughts and reply 😊. The point you made here is something that had not really occurred to me, for some reason, but, does make perfect sense. It's interesting. Somewhere along the line, I must have formed the idea/connection around " mask " to relate to the darker side of things somehow. And having now thought this through, I have realised it's true, a mask doesn't really have to be something dark. I really appreciate this response, as I learned something completely unexpected/unnoticed in my thinking today. Can't say I have experienced a realisation in my thinking quite like this , not in a negative way, it just became apparent when you explained how you don't see masks as a negative thing. And I thought, yes, why does it have to mean something negative 🤔. Thank you, that felt strange and wonderful all at the same time 😅.
