Why do I have to press the pad twice to change the sample? It's very inconvenient.
Why do I have to press the pad twice to change the sample? It's very inconvenient.
You can hot-swap a sample into the last selected Drum by right-clicking the Map sample. Does that help? (I'm not 100% sure what the 2 clicks are that you mention)
awwww mate, just what I needed. So many other dub tuts didn't cut. This was unreal. THank you so much. Great stuff. [let's see what else you've got too... ;-)]
Glad you found it useful!
But...Atlas is anyway better than XO.
BUT! Why you not able for user to binf a key to "New Kit" random button? (and yeah, mostly main and very special button is the smalles of the smallest. wtf?!)
You can bind MIDI to this but tbh no one has ever asked for a keyboard binding. It's a reasonable request though, I'll add it in an update.
can you drag and drop on your DAW? thats the only thing im missing in reaper is a good drum sequencer. like can i sequence in atlas 2, then drag that midi to reaper or the audio to reaper
Yes there's an Export button on the Atlas Sequencer (top-right). With that you can drag-drop the whole sequence or individual channels. This video shows it: ua-cam.com/video/rl3utL-FUDo/v-deo.htmlsi=rC6G3jiwuUw7KY8T&t=190
@@Algonaut thank yoU!
Is there a chance to use Atlas as a midi sequencer for my external gear? (Behringer RD-9)
In Settings you can turn on MIDI out. If you're using the Atlas Standalone you can set the MIDI out device in Settings (bottom-right of UI) -> Audio and MIDI settings -> MIDI out. In the plugin version it's all up to how the DAW does MIDI routing. (if you get stuck let me know which DAW you're using) One thing is the Atlas sequencer outputs the notes starting from C1 and upwards. (you can set this to a different octave below the drum kit) I'm not sure what the RD-9 expects but let me know how you get on. Matt - Dev
@@Algonaut I tried my best, but it didn't work for some reason. The most convenient way would be to send MIDI directly from Atlas to the RD-9 and capture the audio within the MIDI track. It works with the regular piano roll in Ableton using the External Instrument Rack, but I want your sequencer to trigger the RD-9. It's much more convenient! <3
@@haukesteinbach Strange. Since you're using Ableton load Atlas on a track, then create a new MIDI track and set it's MIDI From to be the Atlas channel. Next set the dropdown box directly below the 'MIDI From' box to be 'Atlas' (it's 'Pre FX' by default which won't receive anything). Make sure the 'Monitor' is set to 'In' or 'Auto' and arm the track. You should see the MIDI meter flashing with MIDI notes coming out of Atlas. Try routing that channel to your RD-9.
Nice. What is a free update, the software or the expansion? The expansion appears to be on sale but not free on the website.
Oh, sorry, just re-read: it's a free addition of 31 loops to owners of the pack.
@@Gallanitte Yeah that's the one. It's a free update for anyone who already bought the pack (or is buying it now).
Wow. The sequencer looks so well-conceived - clearly a lot of thought has been put into this UI and workflow from people who actually make music.
Thanks for the kind words! That Mirror-Mode feature is something I've been wanting to see in a Sequencer for about 10 years... Matt - Dev
No ADSR envelopes for individual pads?
By default the samples are always triggered to completion rather than held so a typical ADSR doesn't really apply perfectly. You can adjust the fade in, length, and fade out in the Advanced Sample panel. For the future I'm looking into adding something to help shape the transients a bit better. Matt - Dev
thanks!
Nice! Keep the updates and freebies coming 👌👌👌
Hi please add category for pitches :)

would be cool to use layers on one drum pad!

I just wanted to thank you for this and say that this by far the best and most beginner friendly tutorial out there. Not even just for dub techno but also simply for learning the basics of music production/ableton
Glad you found it useful!
Hello guys, I am yet on Atlas 2.3.4. and I would like to inform you that drag n drop of audio samples from Cubase arrangement window doesn't work in Atlas but it works in Ableton. As far as I understand - it is something that you can fix on your side, am I right? That would be awesome if you could fix that. Just to be clear: i generated a sound on the arrangement and I would like to use it in Atlas but I can't. Although I can do that in other synths: Serum, Groove Agent.
Ok I'll look into this. Atlas just responds to a generic OS "a file has been dropped" event but it sounds like Cubase is doing something a bit different. If you want progress updates about this please email me at 'info@algonaut.tech' so I can respond. (easier for me than looking for this UA-cam comment) Matt (Atlas Dev)
Simply amazing
You guys really k*lled it with the latest update! Specially with the folder feature where I can activate certain specific folders from my sound library to see it on the atlas (don’t know if I explained myself right but the feature is finally there!) Thank you! I don’t regret investing my heard earned money on this amazing company! Keep doing the magic!
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the update.
I got this a while ago but am just now playing with it. Great stuff! Any plans for adding effects and loop chopping in? Randomizing chopped loops or combining chopped loops would be amazing. Having effects on board, especially drum centric ones would be great too, especially if they can be controlled per step in the sequencer
Glad you're enjoying it. I'm working on some big updates at the moment covering a bunch of stuff you've mentioned. Not quite loop chopping yet but that's definitely on the horizon, I'm a big fan of chopping up breaks so would love to code something for that. Matt - Dev
@@Algonaut That sounds awesome! Cant wait for the update. Such a great plugin
It was something that surprised me when I saw how Psy Trance was produced in 2011. And it was so unbelievable and I couldn't share how Artists produce and share samples.
Very good tutorial! Love the vibes. But i think you need some more URINE 😅 (19:35)
HA. I had to rewatch a couple of times to figure out what you were on about. 😅
So genious! The rotate button is x-tremely handy and also the 64 steps. Great work! Thank you so much!
Glad you're enjoying it!
are the processing in-memory or realtime?
The processing is generally in real-time but if something can be processed once and stored then it is, just to help keep things running fast.
Would like to have 'swing' and 'shift' per sample/channel basis.
Swing per channel is on the way, I've sort of got it working in my dev version. I'm not sure what you mean by 'shift' though. If you click/select a channel you can Nudge just that channel in the settings that appear.
Matt, thanks for improvements. In settings there are midi map functions for undo, redo, new seq, new kit, new drum, lock drum which are AWESOME! Wondering if you could add midi hold note options for single drum - random drum sequence, mute & solo.
Yes adding these is definitely on the list as part of a bigger MIDI mapping system I'm working on. I will check if I can add those specific ones earlier though, especially the random sequence channel would be really cool.
@@Algonaut Sounds great! Excited for new updates!
just a wild idea but, could you simply just add these videos to the atlast 2 product page on ur website?
Yeah fair point. I need to update the website quite a bit, I've added quite a few new features that aren't really mentioned on it. Thanks for the feedback.
How did this go under my radar for so long? This is now in my top 5 plugins of ALL TIME.
Yussss. Enjoy!
yeah you guys need more promo! I saw your AD in Instagram. 100% good targeting in my case, thanks god I was already aware of you :)
Hello, I haven´t seen the option to export as audio into Ableton in the right order as they are in the order in sequencer to export in invividual channels - is it possible? Because this is what I´m interested the most, thanks guys :)
Hi, I'm not quite following sorry. You want to load the Drum Kit samples into Ableton Drum Rack? Or the rendered loops as stems? You can hold SHIFT to select multiple drums and use the Drag/Extract button on the Sample panel to load all the samples into Ableton. For the rendered loops there's an Export button on the Sequencer. If you want to export just the processed samples this isn't really possible yet(*) but is coming in an update. (*) As a workaround you can write a sequence with just one note on each channel and export as audio stems.
@@Algonaut Thanks for your reply. I meant drag&drop samples into ableton stems, as they will be in the right order as in sequencer - so this is possible?
@@filipludvik9223 Everything should drag-drop out in the order of the Drums. If you're not seeing this email me at info@algonaut.tech (ideally with a screenshot) and I'll see what's going on.
Just bought my copy of Atlas 2, How are you using Maschine samples in Atlas? Can you explain?
The Maschine packs have a bunch of WAV samples in them if you go digging. This video shows you how to create your own Atlas maps. (just drop the whole Maschine pack folder into the Map creator, Atlas will search through and find the samples) ua-cam.com/video/E4I4gcOwuOk/v-deo.html
@Tom Cosm thank you for this breezy beautiful tour of Atlas 2.5, you've crisply communicated why these features matter. Been appreciating your audio education for years, and reassuring to have a familiar voice guide us through. I hope you and Matt will continue to collab on future Atlas releases.
Agreed. Tom is great at explaining stuff in a really approachable way.
Thx for the update! 😁
No problem, enjoy! 😁
The randomize button doesn’t work on mine
There are a couple of Randomize buttons. Drum Kit 'New Kit' or 'randomize single drum': Make sure you've got a Map loaded. Sequencer: Randomize pulls sequences from your content database, make sure you have something there. Either save some of your own sequences or download some of the free expansions. (Browser -> Open Expansion Browser (bright green button) -> You should see the free packs with their download buttons) If you're still having trouble email me at info@algonaut.tech and I'll help you out. Matt - Dev
I was intrigued when this appeared in my feed and checked it out as I have been eyeing XO for a while but the price is a bit steep. Downloaded the demo and after 20 minutes of clicking around, still cannot figure out how to point it to my own sample collection. Nothing in settings, nothing in browser, can't find a proper searchable manual online, no "getting started" or first run settings, and have clicked through numerous videos on your channel and still can't see where I can do this. I see a user folder for content created in the app (loops, kits, etc). Am I supposed to move all of my sample content there? This looks like a fantastic app and just what I need but if it only works with content from your own marketplace....ehhhh.... *edit* I finally found that "Maps" is where you do this. As a new user to your app, this was probably the least intuitive thing (and frustrating). The whole app is really well designed as I had no problems with any other function, just this key important one. Maybe something can be shown at first run like "do this here, do that there". Would have definitely saved me some frustration!
Short answer: Click 'Maps' (top-left) -> 'Create new Map' -> drag your sample folders in -> 'Build Map' You can find the Map Tutorial video here: ua-cam.com/video/E4I4gcOwuOk/v-deo.html And all the other tutorials here: ua-cam.com/play/PL0pEg54SpnAO4LxsaUYWg-BHH8QSbt7nd.html The manual is on the Algonaut website at the top of the 'Support' page. algonaut.audio/manuals/atlas/2_0_2/index.html I'll look at making it a bit easier to find for new people. Thanks for the feedback. Matt - Dev
Nice!
I emailed you a question. Hope all is well!
Why does Atlas 2 not install all my samples in a folder even when I turn off "only drum samples"? Thank you.
Atlas doesn't install any samples when you create a Map, it just references your sample files. Perhaps you're wondering why you're not seeing some samples in the map though? Atlas workflow is designed around drum and one-shot samples, loops are not included in the map. Also long samples (like pads or buildups) aren't included either. These sorts of long sounds are quite awkward in a drum machine (you can't easily stop them playing one they're triggered). We are looking at supporting these better in the future but for now Atlas is all about rhythmic content and workflow. If you need more help please contact via: info@algonaut.tech
First thing I ve check once reading my thousand mail back from my holidays :). thanks for that ! Cheers
Nice one. Enjoy!
this is lame sorry. trying on "AI" bs
Great improvements! Only thing I’d love to see is a key command for marking a sample as a favorite. Like navigating with wasd and using z or e to start a sample I like
That's a very reasonable request! I am working on a bigger system to let people MIDI Map and key-bind to any function, but the 'favorite' hot-key makes sense to try to get in before all that. Cheers for the feedback, it's always appreciated. Matt - Dev
thanks guys!!!!

I just started using Atlas in the last few days and it’s amazing, especially for someone with a bunch of unused oneshots of all kinds. At first i was scratching my head but the workflow becomes easy very quickly.. great work!

@@Algonaut I have some boards I can test with. I sent a ‘get in contact’ email about helping with the testing through the Algonaut site :)
What a nice surprise. Fantastic to see that this product is still being well supported.
I just started using Atlas recently and I absolutely love it. The learning curve is very reasonable. One request I have is to please implement different types of swings/grooves/shuffles. Atlas would be infinitely more capable with options like quintuplet, septuplet, triplet swing modes. I know this could be a challenge to implement Keep up the great work!
Glad you're enjoying Atlas! That's interesting about those different shuffle types. I'm working on a few improvements to the Sequencer so I'll keep them in mind. If you've got an examples of people using swing modes like this let me know.
The best examples I can think of are how XLN XO allows you to use different swing modes on individual tracks in the sequencer, or how Ableton allows you to extract grooves from audio to then apply it to midi. I'm not a programmer so I don't know exactly how it works. Maybe real time manipulation of MIDI data being triggered by the sequencer? The most common examples of odd swings and rhythm are used in Lofi hip hop and styles of house music.
Very nice!
The real OG with the best sequencer. Mirror editing is a feature I wish all DAW's had. Now editing is even better. Thanks for the update.
That's one of my favorite features too. It was in my head for years before I finally had the chance to put it in a product. Enjoy. :) Matt - Dev
Sorry if this is really obvious, but how do I Drag rendered samples into an Ableton Drum Rack? If I'm using Atlas mainly as a kit builder, and tuning/editing the samples within Atlas, etc, and then want to export all samples with these edit settings... how do I do it? (It seems to just give me the original sample file if I drag them at present...)
At the moment the changes to the individual samples can't be rendered out but this is coming in an update. It's a little awkward, but as a workaround you can create a sequence in Atlas with each sound being triggered only once at the start, and then Export as Stems. Feel free to contact me at info@algonaut.tech if you want more help. Matt - Dev
@@Algonaut Thanks for the reply, Matt. I understand your workaround suggestion, but I'll record/resample them into a new audio track in Ableton and drag them to Drum Rack. I know they're a competitor, but the XLN XO method is really good: there's a dedicated XO Samples folder (for newly rendered samples), and it autonomously exports them. I'd be delighted to have an Atlas Samples folder to do something similar. But, in an ideal world, I'd love to be able to select all 16 samples in Atlas, drag them into Drum Rack and have the edit changes to the samples remain in place. I appreciate all your hard work on Atlas. Great work!
@@ccmp23 Nice one, that's pretty much the plan for Atlas too. I've got it designed out but I just need to finish a bit more on the code side. Cheers for the feedback!
